Which was the perfect amount of time to completely entertain and yet leave you wanting to come back to watch again.There was great audience participation, the atmosphere was so laid back and the troop was very comfortable and confident. I laughed for the entire hour. The only thing i wouldn't do - Don't bring the children, it is definitely adult oriented, but very funny! $5 for an hour of your life - you bet! Well worth it!

However, a recent show I went to was cringe-worthy. Out of 4 performers it seemed like one completely lacked a sense of humor, another wanted to be the center of attention and would do anything to get there, one knew they were bombing, and the last girl was pretty funny. Due the nature of long form improv as opposed to the more common type of improv they got stuck with terrible audience suggestions that they had to use for an hour. Note to performers- next time an audience member suggests a character that has an obsession with clocktowers...keep asking for suggestions. The performance was bad enough that my friends and I didn't even feel like continuing our night afterwords. One of the exchanges between two of the performers lasted about 10 minutes and was so bad and lacking laughs that I almost felt bad for them. The girl in this particular scene about a mutual love of clocktowers knew that they were going down in flames. I must give the guy in that scene credit though, anyone who's job it is to make people laugh who fails to do that even once during the course of an hour yet continues to get up in front of crowds deserve at least some praise for guts.

I believe it's first-come-first-served seating, so I do recommend coming early if you want a specific seat. We were a little bit late and arrived about 15 minutes before the show and somehow managed to get the last 3 seats together. The show was great - it felt like very intimate, which was a completely different experience to my first time seeing Once, which was on Broadway in a huge theater.

She was cast as Elsa, and learned so much throughout the process. Each week, she came home excited about the rehearsals, from the line reading, the dancing and singing, costumes, mikes, and Tech week, she loved it all. The Directors and DIT's (Directors in Training) were so kind, patient, and fun to work with. The company has an extremely organized drop off and pick up procedure. They kept families up to date on any changes, and were responsive to questions. And to top it all off, she became good friends with the girl cast as Anna. So she's leaving her first Theater experience with confidence, new friends, and awesome memories of the entire experience. As she put it, she's got the Theater bug now, and can't wait to do more shows!

Beautiful new space for a great theatre company! There is substantially more space than in the old…read more31Studios theater - and a real box office. There are seats for 60 now, versus 40 formerly. At the time of my visit the performance space was fully built but some of the other spaces (restrooms) were still being finished. RI Spirits is on the lower level of the building, and they've graciously sponsored the concession stand, meaning that during intermission you can get Rhodium vodka or gin (with a mixer) along with soft drinks, or sweet and salty snacks. The Burbage Theatre Company is already an important contributor to the Pawtucket arts scene, with free Shakespeare (and the hysterical Complete Works, which still counts) in the city spaces like the Guild over the past two summers. We saw the very funny The School for Lies today, and the rest of the line-up for this 9th season looks equally exciting. I'm looking forward to a fabulous season from an energetic and engaging company.

The ECAS Theater has been one of Rhode Island's Latino theater and performing arts organizations…read moresince 1997. The theater was founded in 1997 as part of an arts and education collaborative created by Providence public school teachers. The Educational Center for the Arts and Science was a multidisciplinary approach to after school and weekend programming for students in Providence. Over the years, ECAS Theater grew to produce and stage original and classic works of theater, provide theatrical instruction to youth and adults, and bring theater companies from across the US and Latin America to Rhode Island. ECAS Theater operates a 90-seat black box theater where I went for a Fringe PVD performance. The stage manager and the volunteers were very friendly and very helpful on getting everyone to the right place.
