Salisbury Farm was the great place for pick your own strawberries. The patch (is that what you call it?) was the perfect size, not too big but not small. The cost of this giant bucket, I seriously have so many strawberries, was a great value. I do wish maybe they had a couple of sizes to choose from but I'm finding new recipes to use these guys. On this sunny Autumn day, I just needed to get out and enjoy autumn in New England. I was thinking 'apples, I want some Macintosh apples'. So what did I do? I went on yelp and searched 'orchards'. Which lead me to Salisbury Farm. First of all, I know you all are thinking "Johnston?" This farm is right down the road from the Scituate art festival location. It's rural. This is not the Johnston I think of (sorry Johnston). Don't let the location dissuade you. It's lovely. A small store is located in a big old barn and sells gourds, pumpkins, soap, peppers, tomatoes, mums plus some merch, honey and more. Goats and a cow named Finlay (who I am obsessed with) are located just outside for everyone to enjoy. They also have some kid sized fun things to do right there by the barn. They also have a corn maze which I was interested in doing, but wasn't sure about, so I asked 'how big is your corn maze' and was told '5 acres.' What? Five acres? No way. I'm not sure how they measure that (I'm not a surveyor) but that sounded like a nice stretch of the legs and I was all in. We were given maps of the maze with our purchase, which is absolutely necessary. Without the map I have no idea how we would have gotten through. Honestly, we passed two women, going the wrong way, who said they had been in there for 45 minutes and couldn't find the way out. They did not follow the map. For all I know they are still in there. We spent about 30 minutes in the maze (I'm a good map reader) and then walked on over to the pumpkin patch. Most of the pumpkins are at the barn, but it was a nice walk and we passed fields of strawberries (out of season in October). In the Spring I'll check back for their strawberry harvest. The sunflowers are past their prime in October, but last month you could cut your own sunflowers and I bet they were gorgeous then. The maze is not an inexpensive experience, but it is something you only get to do in the Fall and it does support a local farm, so for me it was worth it and I had fun. The corn crop this year is having some difficulty (2024). Much of the maze is tall and conceals all as you would expect. Parts of the maze however are not dense and the farm has a sign up in that section with information about their plans to amend the fields for next years crop. There are a lot of signs throughout the maze: Jokes Emergency flags to wave if you are totally lost Four emergency exits Information about Halloween and the farm. There is also a raffle with your purchase so ask at the store about that. Two picnic tables are near the entrance/exit. If you have a group this could be your meeting place if you are separated or if you have little ones, you can hang out here while the bigger ones go through the maze. Bring snacks. Enjoy the day! I did get to buy myself some Macintosh apples (for those of you wondering). We were here on a week day, so it wasn't a full tilt, weekend extravaganza. I am thinking on the weekends it's a lot of family fun in the Autumn. read more

I came here for some fire wood a couple days ago and told myself I have to give a review.. #1. Their firewood is the #2. Owner went out of his way to develop a relationship with me (new customer for life) #3. Been struggling with anxiety & I actually broke down crying with the owner.. and he gave me a big hug (meant so much to me) #4. Loved this corn maze. It was pretty easy since they give you a map. What made us use the map is because of the word puzzle that was on it. There's facts and questions spread out in the field that you have to solve. It's pretty fun, never experienced that in a maze before. Then after you got the answer, you put your maze card in a bin to enter a raffle. I just held on to mine because I'm more about the memories;). They have a farm stand to buy food and pet the animals beside it. Also, they provide little wagons for the pumpkin patch which is cute. You know what they say about Salisbury Farm, "Come for raspberries, stay for the strawberries, and leave before you buy a $30 pumpkin." Kidding... but it's a fun Fall place to go to. They have raspberry and strawberry picking which is fun. Just don't eat too many while you're they're. Tempting but then you get back and realize you have just about no berries in your carton and it's sad. They've got the whole Fall farm vibe going really well. The berry picking, corn maze, tractor hay rides, vegetable sales, and animals you can feed. Oh and yes they have pumpkins. Very large organic pumpkins. Also featuring a black car. I mean it's like come on, can you get more Fall farm-y than that? Didn't go into the corn maze. It was $11 and I'd want a bushel of corn included in that price, so saved it for next time. One of my favorite farms in Rhode Island! They have pumpkin, strawberry and raspberry picking. I went today for raspberry picking and they were delicious. Also, very affordable! I also did the corn maze, which was a great first experience for me. It was huge and was very easy to get lost in! The farm also has flower picking and animals that you can fit. The staff is super friendly here and they have llamas and a donkey you can pet, haha! So much more than fruits and veggies. We recently went strawberry picking here and it was a lot of fun with my nephew and there were lots of beautiful, fresh, LOCAL strawberries plump and perfect for picking. I would definitely return to pick strawberries in the future, and any other fruits they have available for picking (I think they do other berries as well). It's conveniently located for me, being a Cranston girl and all, so I'm not sure I see any reason to venture further from Salisbury Farm to do some berry picking. read more

All I can say is WOW! I went on a tour and strawberry picking today at Salisbury Farm and it was amazing. This place plants between 10,000 to 15,000 strawberry plants a year. And you know what is funny, it all started because of a high school project in the 80s! The owner Wayne is so sweet, just like his strawberries! He gave a great tour and told us about the history of the farm, all the way back to 1840. Strawberry season ends in the next couple of days, so get there fast! You can pick from 8 am to 5 pm, seven days a week. Raspberries are next so get ready! They also have homemade goods too in the barn! They looked yummy! read more

Such a cute farm!!! They have pick your own sun flowers, pumpkins, a corn maze, a little farm stand to buy fresh produce and farm animals that you can pet. I came with my family to pick raspberries and sunflowers. The farm had the raspberries closed off so that way the fruit could ripen your and not get over picked. Which was a bummer- but we stayed to pick the sunflowers. They had several different colors: white, purple, yellow, orange, and a combo of yellow and purple. After wards we went to pet the cow, llama, and goats. The farm hands fed them tomatoes and they were flinging the tomatoes around and getting seeds on the kids which was cute and funny! Some customers were feeding the animals tomatoes but I wish they had waited and let a few more kids feed the tomatoes to the animals. I'm surprised this farm was not as busy as pippin orchard down the street was but I was happy that there was not a huge crowd of people, especially with COVID going around still. I will definitely be returning in a few days for berry picking as well as in the future!!!! read more

Came for the Corn Maze and had a great time with the family. The free hayrides out to the maze sold the kids, but the maze itself was a blast too. - a scavenger hunt, hole punches, fun trivia and, well, a lot of spinning around inside the maze (we initially thought that it would simply 'guide' you to an exit, but that's definitely no the case. No worries, though, there are emergency exits and a white flag if you need to signal for help.) We came mid-day and it was not crowded at all, by the time we were leaving (~5 on a Saturday) the crowds were starting to come. The pumpkins are reasonably priced, but by this time in October the pumpkin batch was pretty bare. The have white pumpkins, green pumpkins, and the traditional orange pumpkins to choose from. I have only been on fall weekend afternoons to visit the farm. It is picturesque fall with tractor rides out to the pumpkin patch for PYO picking - or to the corn maze where you could get lost. The farm stand has veggies and homemade goods (think jams, jellies, baked goods, and honey). Getting to the farm is easy from 295 and there's easy/plentiful parking in the grass. I noticed in my most recent visit that there was a tent set up in the field for private events - that could be totally fun. I also buy from Salisbury Farm at the Providence Armory Park farmer's market -- late Spring - early Fall every year. Their strawberries are always the tastiest, in my opinion. We had so much fun picking strawberries today. The harvest was plentiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. For the PYO strawberries the price was really decent. They seemed to have a field trip of small children that were having a lot fun. You can purchase their other produce, feed the farm animals, buy some local honey, just enjoy the local agriculture! We took our baby here for pictures in their pumpkin patch. They were so kind to us. They gave us a red wagon to bring our pumpkins back in and for cute pictures. Their mums were pretty, as well. Great customer service - very friendly and helpful. I went on another day with a group of moms and babies to their corn maze. This was very fun and a perfect afternoon get-together. We came to this local farm to pick raspberries.. A full pint for only $4.. definitely cheaper than buying them in the store... They have an assortment of fresh vegetables from their farm, which is about all they have. They have a llama, donkey and a few goats that you can feed, which is nice for kids.. My kids and I LOVE this place. We go for the raspberries. It is very easy to negotiate between the raspberry bushes. The guy who owns it is so nice. Actually everyone who works there is nice. The raspberries are delicious and so much cheaper than the store bought ones. Plus it is fun to hang out with the kids picking raspberries.
