The Everette Railroad / Train Station was overall a very nice experience. The staff and crew were all extremely helpful and pleasant. The train station and railroad passenger cars were both very clean. The only negative about our trip was children being allowed to run back and forth between passenger cars during the entire trip back to the station. Since some parents/guardians don't seem to have rules for their children, the railroad company should make rules concerning young children running through the aisle ways unattended. It is unsafe and quite annoying when the train ride should have been relaxing. I noticed other riders were also annoyed with the nonstop running. None of the train workers said anything to the children or their parents/guardians about this obnoxious behavior, which was a little disappointing. read more

After wanting to visit the Everett Railroad for quite a while, I made the trek out this summer. I had a blast! The Everett Railroad offers both steam and diesel engine powered excursions from March through December. I personally purchased tickets for the sunset steam train ride in August. The railroad let me purchase dinner to enjoy on the train as well, which I appreciated since it made it easier to plan my day trip (well, more like a half day trip). I made sure to arrive early for my ride so I could check in and explore the gift shop, because you always need to explore the gift shop! The Everett Railroad's isn't as large as the one at Strasburg or Cass, but it was still nice to browse and had a good mixture of items ranging from clothes to pins to books to toys. After checking in and picking up my general seating ticket (plus my branded lunchbox with my meal) I could choose where I wanted to sit during the one-hour train ride. That said, I opted not to sit at all! I stood in the railroad's combine car (i.e. a combination passenger and baggage car) and took in the sights there. The sights included a mixture of beautiful countryside as well as an industrial site. The staff operated a limited bar and sold snacks in the combine car as well, so there was a lot of foot traffic coming and going during the ride. Despite that the experience was relaxing and enjoyable (aside from some teenage boys being teenage boys at one point, but I did my best to ignore their loud and crass sense of humor in the interest of not encouraging them. Teenagers, right?). I'm glad I came out to support this railroad, and I'd definitely make plans to come back with friends sometime - Rails & Rosé looks like a fun ride to try next! read more

Cookie and hot coco gets picked up in to go containers while boarding the t Problem is the train ride is through a junk yard looking area, doesn't stop anywhere, just the engine moves to the front position and pulls you home backwards. No Christmas lights to look at, no stop anywhere. They could have a stop and get off at the "North Pole" or at least bath the junk yard in lights! It's cheaper than most Santa trains.... But I wouldn't recommend it worth the drive from Pittsburgh. read more

We were on Sisters' Weekend and booked the Wine Train. From the moment you arrive the staff make you feel very welcomed. The ride through the Mountain was quite enjoyable. As it was a Wine train, the appetizer, wine and drinks at the bar were all worth it and just added to the experience. If I am back in the area, definitely will ride again even on there regular excursions! read more

The steam locomotive train was very cool!! And ALL of the Everett Railroad employees were extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the pumpkin "patch" was not a real pumpkin patch. There was a plot of land with pumpkins placed on the ground. I can understand if there isn't a real pumpkin patch near the tracks, but I felt it was misleading. I was expecting a field with vines to trip over, like Brickhouse Farm in Calvert County, MD. read more

I don't know how anyone could leave a negative review. Engine #11 is a massive beast and a glorious time capsule of long forgotten way of traveling. Extremely clean. No fingerprints on windows, vintage original green leather seats. Conductors and staff at station were organized and friendly. They had lunches packed and the lunch was very good! It's a slow ride, if you are in a hurry don't go. But to just relax and enjoy, that's the best. read more

Our trip consisted of constant loud screeching noises from the old train cars rubbing against each other non-stop. You couldn't talk with anyone, it gave us all headaches. The views along the way are just sad. You can't even see the beauty of the mountains, our drive there was way more scenic. in years past, I would have a 5 star review. This year (2023) things have changed. there is no entertainment for the kids anymore. they don't sing with kids, give out small gifts or candy to the kids anymore. the train is not decorated for kids, it is just garland and lights, not kid themed in any way. you have to entertain the kids while waiting for a short 30/40 second visit from Santa. They send a photographer around to take pictures of your group instead of sending elves or anyone else for entertainment. Then ask you to buy the picture for 20$. I don't mind the picture taking, but I don't like that it took the place of the kids being entertained. Our 2 year old fell asleep, the 5 year old was bored and the 10 year old read a book. The train ride is ok, but it in no way felt like a Santa express train ride. read more

I was able to go take trips on this railroad on 2 different occasions now. Having previously worked on another tourist railroad, I know how much effort it takes to organize these trips and these folks do an amazing job. The temp outside was very cold, about 17 degrees, but they had the train and shop ready on time. I had purchased my tickets and lunch in advance and all I had to do was show them my QR code and they logged me in and handed me the tickets and the lunches. They made announcements that were pertinent to our trip and we were on our way. It was such an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to riding again in the future. read more

Love this train ride and this train! Have been on it many times for different occasions through the years and am never disappointed!

Our family recently went on the Easter Eggspress train ride and my kids (4 and 6) loved it. My son is newly interested in trains and this was a great intro for him. Their favorite part was the Easter Bunny visiting us on the train. The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. From offering to take family pictures to making sure my son leave disappointed and got him a few extra eggs when his egg hunt only scored him a couple of eggs. For a drive a little over two hours, we had a great day and my kids are already asking when we can go again. read more

Train ride to the cove was very nice . The railroad does a excellent job on taking care of all needs . They have just added 2 more cars to the fleet which are like new from restoration. As a steam loco enthusiast , with my fellow train buffs (8 in all) we enjoy watching the little mogul show its stuff. Now that they have added a diesel as a helper. would like to see the diesel doing less work and hear the chuffs from the steamer as it works the different terrain. Recommended for all read more

We took our daughters on this train for the pumpkin patch. It was a nice little ride for young children. The ride was just 15 min. The staff was friendly and the pumpkin patch was a small area with decorations. The train was clean and comfortable and the girls loved seeing and hearing the steam from the engine. Overall, I thought that the cost for this outing was overpriced $80 for two adults and two children. The pumpkin patch was sparse and really had very little to hold my daughters attention. We picked out a pumpkin and took pictures and were back on the train in 5 min. It was pretty anticlimactic. We have tickets for the Santa express that we are planning to try to sell. The value just isn't there. read more

We boarded the train after our directions on our smart phone missed the true parking lot. So they had enough workers who were all rather pleasant. The Christmas music was being played so loud we had to scream to hear one another. The scenery on the ride on the side we were seated was rather lousy. It was junk yards and trailers, garages with roofs caving in. Santa was pleasant but needed a new clean suit. They had professional pictures to purchase. Ours was handed to us, it wasn't us nor did they have one for us. So we basically paid $75 for 60 minutes of zero enjoyment. The train itself is very nice. Maybe departing from another location such as Roaring Spring would be a better scenic option?!! read more

UPDATE: The railroad company has gone above and beyond to rectify our experience! Just for the great customer service and care I have raised my rating of this company. They truly seem to care that our experience was as it was. ORIGINAL POST:My family and I arrived for the Santa Train over an hour early (we wanted to see the first train arrive and get good seats together) When we were allowed to board My family and I (my husband and 3 children) found seats together (Three of us in one part and my two older kids right next to us in another part right across). About 5 minutes before we departed a group of 38 people came and told the conductor they wanted to stay together. The tickets clearly state to arrive 30 minutes early as there are no reserved seats. We were in the first train compartment when the conductor came in and told all of us in the front we had to move. We got up to look for a different place to help accommodate but there were no spaces that would keep my family together so we went back to our original seats. Again the conductor told us we HAD to move, we told him there was no place for all of us together, he insisted there was and stood there until we moved. We ended up in the last compartment on the train and none of us were together. My husband sat with my youngest. My other two kids sat together somewhere else and I sat alone. We paid for a family outing that we never got. For what we paid and how we were treated I will never do this again. They didn't even try to apologize! read more

The Everett Railroad excursion trains are a perfect first train ride for children and adults alike. Departing from the easy to reach depot just of Route 36, the ride takes less than an hour as the train meanders through the foothills of the Allegheny mountains. The depot is clean, the restrooms are clean, the train coaches are clean and the staff is polite, helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the trains powered by their small 2-6-0 steam locomotive #11. Kids will really love seeing , hearing and smelling live steam, especially if they a Thomas and Friends fans. You may bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on the train too. Plus, while in the area Hollidaysburg and Duncansville are loaded with great little stores and antique shops. Altoona and the Railroaders Museum of PA, The Curve class AA baseball team, Horseshoe Curve, Prince Gallitzen Park, Logan Valley Mall and many other attractions are close by too. read more
