We were in town for for a graduation from Mt. Aloysius College and the location was super! Marti and Steve, the owners could not have been nicer. The B&B was super clean and very inviting. The rooms are named after people important to local culture and there's a lot of local memorabilia throughout. We were in the Samuel Lemmon room on the second floor and it was very nice. The private bath was nearly as large as the room! Our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent (fruit cup followed by french toast and sausage). All of the rooms were rented while we were there but there was still plenty of space at the table and lots of breakfast to go around. We would absolutly return and highly recommend to anyone in the area!

This is a B&B that is for a railroad fans! It is located right alongside the tracks outside a…read moretunnel. Trains will go by anytime day and night for the fans enjoyment. They have a large outside deck with a chimney stove for warmth at night. Bob, the proprietor, is a huge fan and such a nice man. He will talk trains with all of us and even go take pictures with the kids. My grandson loves Bob because he talks trains and lets him know when special ones are coming. The rooms are comfortable as are the beds. Just a great place if you love trains like our family does.

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. The Inn is interesting only in that it is an historic structure. It was once probably quite lovely. But you enter from the parking lot into a hall cluttered with stuff. Indeed, this is an indicator of what the rest of the inn is like--years of hoarded items, stuff, and more stuff, everywhere. Vacuums, bicycles, spare wood, all stuck in corners, an office overflowing with junk, tables covered in old newspapers. The whole place needs a deep cleaning and cleanout. The Inn was stuffy, like the windows had not been opened in years. Musty, dank, hard to breathe. With all that dirt and clutter, I would not be surprised if there were rodents and roaches. The room was small. The decor was old and dusty. The windows were filthy. As another reviewer mentioned, the bathroom was likely once a closet, and contained a tiny standup shower and toilet. And then of course, there was no hot water. The many pictures on the Inn's website illustrate wonderful breakfast options. However, we were told that breakfast was at 830am only and we were told what would be served--eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and fruit cup. The breakfast we received consisted of disgusting industrial powdered scrambled eggs, white toast, and cold hash browns. There was bacon and fruit cups. The coffee was absolutely undrinkable and one of our party received their coffee in a dirty mug. At breakfast, after one of our party endured a cold shower, we told the staff there was no hot water. The innkeeper told us that the hot water heater was being worked on. No offer of refund or compensation due to the lack of hot water. The owner basically said there was nothing he could do--which meant there was nothing he wanted to do to make things right. So much for customer service. We understand that keeping an inn of this size running well is challenging. The inn's website belies what the inn actually is like. The reality is that the inn is dirty, musty, cluttered, and not kept up. Stay anywhere else.

She took the time to provide us with a tour of one of the most complete and original victorian homes built during the age of the lumber barron. What alterations where made to make it a B&B with a private bath for each room was done thoughtfully so no awckward showers in what used to be coat closets or anything. the rooms are eleganly decorated and furnished with out to much stuff that often gets cramed into every corner of most B&Bs. Great refreshments in the evening even better breakfast in the morning and plenty of local information and recomendations. As a traveler who tries to support small business I often feel like I am making a contrubution because not all of the places I have stayed really provide a complete and easy stay. This time the bargain was all mine.
