After working my way east on Dundas from Spadina, trying out the different massage joints, it looked like Vivi was the end of the line. But the tour isn't over, as across the street are more choices. Since this one, Evergreen Beauty looks to be the first one coming from the east, on the north side of Spadina, I went inside, at this basement spot and was greeted by Jessica, hailing from Beijing, China. I opted for the usual combo, 30 min reflexology and 60 minutes shiatsu. Her technique was quite good and she was able to muster some decent pressure which is what I was after. At this point I have to admit that I'm getting a little confused about which one is which as they are all starting to look very similar. To add to the confusion, some of the staff move around so if you find someone you would like to use again, you need to ask for their card and contact. They sometimes work at one spa, and then move to a different one in the area so you need to ask for their availably and not assume anything. As well, their business cards may be from another spa, and not the one you were in. And since their technique and training vary widely, it helps to know what you're in for. The reflexology was done in the massage room, which wasn't quite as good since she skipped the soaking in hot water part, which is good in that there's more time for massage, but bad in that the soaking seems to help relax your feet and feels great! Ask about the soaking when you put in your order as you can choose to have the feet first, or vice versa. And ask if they include soaking in the procedure. Read Google reviews - Most of the positive reviews list things that this place absolutely is not, or talk about aspects of the business that don't exist. They are totally astroturfed. As for my experience : Came here in an emergency as my usual place was booked for many days ahead. I paid for a 1hr RMT treatment, which was horrendous. I had to ask her to stop multiple times as what she was doing was considerably painful. I go for massages every other month, I know what it should feel like. This woman had no idea what she was doing and in the end caused more injuries. I had to go back to my regular place 3 times to repair the muscle damage she caused me. I asked for an invoice & was told it was cash only, and insisted I give them a tip. I refused, and insisted on an invoice with RMT# on it. They finally gave me a receipt, however when I filed my claim the insurance provider said this RMT# didn't practice here. I went back to the spa, and then they tried to give me another RMT# for my claim. Neither of the people were the one who treated me. Turns out, the person who treated me was just some woman using someone else's RMT#. I ended up reporting this to the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario). I also reported them to the CRA for tax fraud as they keep insisting on cash only and refuse to issue receipts. The owner of the spa went completely nuclear when she found out they'd been reported and harassed me by phone for a couple days. Lin Peng, the RMT who's number was being used was caught in multiple lies to the CMTO over this incident. Her licence was suspended for 30 days, and she was forced to undergo training sessions on appropriate conduct. That's the kind of people who "treat" you here. Further to this, the place is incredibly dirty. Walls have stains on them, the floor looks like it hasn't been washed in years, there's little to no equipment in the rooms, and overall it felt like nothing more than a cheap rub-n-tug "spa". It was completely unsanitary and in serious need of upkeep. The only reason I went here to begin with was because I was in an emergency need of a massage for a pinched nerve, and my regular place was booked up for days. At the end of my session, when I was very relaxed, he explicitly touched my clitoris. I gestured no and made a sound to stop and he did. Then he proceeded to rub my upper body and touched my breast, grabbing and squeezing and pinched my nipples. I did not report him. I guess I blamed myself, thinking, "I'm in China Town getting a massage, what did I expect?" But I received at least 20 massages at this place from women over the course of 2 years and had positive experiences. I guess I didn't want to believe it was a "Happy Ending" place...but it is. I decided to come back since I had an amazing massage last time. However, this time was AWFUL. I told the lady that it hurt multiple times and she didn't seem to take that into consideration. I feel bad for saying this but her hands were rough like sandpaper and she scrubbed me like a car.. lol I didn't feel relaxed and I didn't appreciate her not listening to me when I said that it was hurting me. My friend and I walked in without a appointment but were both accomadated right away. We choose the 1 hour foot and 1 hour body massage all for a whopping 75 dollars. Unheard of prices in our neck of the woods (Mississauga and Etobicoke) My masseuse was Gigi and she was fabulous. Her pressure was firm and hurt at times (but in the oh so good kinda pain way) and overall really relaxing. My friend was equally happy with hers Marie and gave a glowing review as well. While their english is minimal they were both very friendly and knew all the important words and would ask how the pressure was and so on. A great way to spend a couple hours unwinding in the city. We were uber chilled, relaxed, and in a zen like state after the 2 hours. Go here and ask for either of these ladies they were great! This is the first foot massage place I've been to! I'd been curious about Chinese foot massages for a long time because I heard good things from a few friends and these places are everywhere so I decided to bite the bullet one day. I was greeted by a young lady who spoke fluent English. They were able to accommodate me right away. A Chinese auntie brought in a bucket of what looked like tea and she ended up doing my massage. I probably shouldn't have asked repeatedly if it would hurt because I must've looked like a wimp and she used a light hand on me. It still felt very relaxing though. She was chatty and maternal with me. I appreciated the pot of tea and the dimming of the lights - the better to hide my ungroomed legs! My main complaint is that the environment really could be nicer. It was pretty rundown. I get that it's an inexpensive massage place, but when there are a bunch of nearby competition that's equally rundown, a nice interior would have me coming back! Been going here for a about 5 years now. I've been to different places for massages but I tend to come back to Evergreen Beauty & Wellness Centre. The atmosphere/environment isn't fancy or modern. For chinatown, this location is just as good as any other around the area. You can see from the pictures other's have posted. It is as good as it gets. As for the massage itself, 90% of the therapists here are amazing! They provide one of the best feet and body massages in Toronto. The Masseuses does not speak any English but you can simply use basic words "Harder, Softer, No, Yes, etc." to communicate. End of the day, it's all about how you feel after you come out of the massage. I did however had a poor experience during my last session which caused some aches for a few days. But that was from a new/temporary masseuse which I will not have again. This one time experience will not deter me from going back to Evergreen. From my 5 years of coming here, I am confident my next visit will be Awesome! read more

I really needed a massage and saw good reviews so I went. The massage is great. My lowerback was very sore and the therapist really worked on it. It's not a spa like feature and the room was very simple. The only issue and awkward part was when I paid. Firstly, they will only take cash and I considered this place for as a clinic and not a spa. Usually at a clinic I do not tip because it's not a spa setting. Therefore, I initially paid the fees and the lady asked for a tip which I didn't really appreciate being force to tip. Me and my boyfriend decided to go randomly to our first massage. We opted for the 60 min foot reflexology and 30 min full body massage for $50 per person. We were greeted very nicely at the entrance and were given slippers. They took us into a room with two large chairs and told us to sit. Throughout the whole experience the people were nice but did not speak fluent English which made it hard to know what we had to do next. I was wearing skinny jeans so they gave me a towel to change into to feel more comfortable. While we waited they brought us green tea and put our feet in this small wooden tub filled with hot tea, I think. After about 10 min of this the two masseuses came in and massaged our feet for 50 min. The massage was really nice although too hard at times. They used baby oil for most of the massage. After they moved us to another room with massage tables. We undressed and lied down with towels around our bottom area. This part of the massage was a full 30 min. They used baby oil and massage our full bodies (back side) although mainly focused on the back and butt. Overall it was a nice experience. It was sometimes distracting at times to hear some people talking in different languages in other room while we had the massage but we didn't mind too much. As this was our first massage, I think we would like to try other places before coming back. read more

Came in during my lunch hour for a 15 min foot massage. The towels did not feel clean. This was my 2nd Chinese massage but my first one that focused only on feet. Maybe I am too soft or the massages are too hard but every time I have had a Chinese massage I have not been happy. After looking at dozens of reviews of reflexology massages in Chinatown, I ended up choosing Evergreen Beauty & Wellness Centre. The space is very simple, but clean. I was seen without an appointment almost immediately. The price list was almost too good to be true, but I decided on the 60min reflexology treatment for $30. I was taken into a room with two large leather chairs (I ended up sharing a room with another cient), and given a foot soak for about 15mins. The massage itself was about 45mins. The practitioner barely said anything to me the entire time, but I did not mind at all. I was far too relaxed to carry on a mundane conversation with anyone. Just a warning that the pressure is quite strong but not uncomfortable. There are areas on your foot/leg which will be more sensitive than others but if you can handle the pain, you will reap the most benefits. You can also tell them to lighten up if it's too intense for you. Don't expect a luxury spa experience, and although the rooms are dark, you can basically hear conversations from the rooms next to you. No one was loud, but you can definitely hear pretty much everything. They played "spa" music, so it drowned out any background noise. Overall, it was a great experience! I felt amazing afterwards, and even though it was a strong massage, I didn't feel sore the next day. Can't wait to go back! read more
