The student hairstylist was attentive and warm, and she did a great job communicating my preferences to the instructor. Toward the end of my visit, I also saw the students celebrating their graduating classmates, which was fun to witness. I scheduled a facial with Paris Lillard she is in phase 1 of her schooling , booking with Paris had no problems. Once arrived front desk got me signed in and notified Paris of me being there. I was greeted by Paris and taken back to the stations, the spacing could be a little better between stations but hey it's a school setting. Paris made me comfortable asking the right questions about health and if I'd like a blanket to keep me warm. Both of them were patient and gentle and I felt a lot better while they were working on them. Later I got a facial from Anna H. Her voice was really soft and gentle and her hands were soothing. I enjoyed talking to her. I hope to be able to have her and Kendra again. Then at the checkout counter, Marly was patient with me when I had questions. She had a very kind attitude and I appreciated that. So, all of these people I would like to give each of them a compliment from the supervisor. This rating is based on some assumptions. 1- It wouldn't be uncommon to come out of a beauty school with a cut not quite what you had in mind. 2- An instructor should make sure you come out with a good cut as they say they will. 3- It shouldn't be on the client to make sure the stylist knows how to cut the hair. 4- You should get the service you paid for. I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. I needed a cut that was affordable. I looked them up and saw $15 for shampoo, cut, and blow dry. Worth a try. I paid the $15 but didn't get a shampoo or blow dry. I didn't even get a spray bottle to wet down the back where my claw clip had created a lump in the hair. I don't expect a student to give a cut perfect. I had to learn how to cut hair. I know it takes time and mistakes. But I did expect the instructor to do more than instruct on how not to cut bangs too short. The instructor came and started to leave the consult without any instruction on layering, what tools to use for textured cut I asked for, how much texturing to do in hair like mine, etc. even after I had specified with a photo I wanted texture to take out some of the weight in my hair. In short, there was very little instruction for a school and a student who was very clearly not experienced. Sweet and attempting professionalism but lacking experience. I had already asked the student how short the top layer would be because I know this is critical in layered looks. This student didn't know proportion. I had hair 5" past my shoulder and the suggestion before the consultation was that the top layer would start at 4" off the crown. I had to stop the instructor from leaving the initial consult and ask her opinion so the student would hear proper instruction. The instructor didn't come back at all during the cut to check on the progress. The student told me there was only one instructor that day for the whole school. The student finished my cut and went to find the instructor who came and combed through to tidy two or three little snips but somehow managed to miss an entire section in the back and sides where the layers are very uneven. The student who cut my hair didn't botch it terribly. It's passable. Not textured layers but ok. By that I mean I can still put this up in a clip and nobody knows it's uneven. But that is only because I knew enough to guide the instructor or I would have ended up with 5" layers I couldn't have hidden. And that is inexcusable for a beauty school. read more

Would not recommend to anybody! I asked for blonde highlights and was told it is possible with a help of a toner. The girl spent 2 hours putting the foils on. My back section was "cooking" for 1.5 hours until I asked if it is ok to keep it for so long! My hair turned out blonde when she took the foils off. Then washed my hair and pulled half of my hair out because it is impossible to brush it without conditioner especially after blonde highlights. I assume the teacher told her to put conditioner on and then she brushed it. Then she disappeared for 15 minutes and was walking by few time looking confused while I was sitting by the sink. After spending there over 3 hours she called some other girls to help her to put a toner on my hair. 4.5 hours later my hair is very DAMAGED! My blonde had disappeared and I ended up with the same what I came with but much more damaged! When arrived home realized that few foils in the back are still blonde. They saw my disappointment and all they said is that the toner was way too dark for me. Paid 80$, wasted 4.5 hours plus 1h driving and ended up with damaged hair and lots of tears and disappointment. read more

I had never had any type of facial before and I was invited to EBC for one. I started out with a simple express facial, went back for a microdermabrasion facial, and last week I had a custom facial. Trinity B. did all three for me. She was very polite and gentle with my face/skin. Spa treatments are suppose to be relaxing, but I had to bring my 4year old and 7month old and she was very accommodating to them, worked around them and was patient when I had to tend to my baby. I gave EBC a try after having my brows waxed by my nail salon, who left me with razor-thin brows with no arch or contour at all. Which I'm still growing out. I booked an appointment for twists and added to the notes that I was interested in large twists with extensions. Someone called my to change my appointment date and I brought up with the caller that I had asked if they stylist would be able to provide that service and finish in the allotted time. Upon my insistence, she went to check with the educator and the student to confirm. She told me they couldn't guarantee that the student would be done before closing but at the very least, I could come back to get it finished. Not too long before my appointment today, Marley called and left a message to "make it clear that they don't do extensions". I called back to get to the bottom of the discrepancy. She claims the decision came from the educator that's there all the time. Some of Marley's rude remarks included: "I don't know what you want me to say.." "I can go back and forth with you all day but I don't have the time" "You were told before.." I have gotten twists there once before and the very nice student offered to use extensions, which is why I made this appointment. read more

I had my first shellac manicure and pedicure this afternoon with Emily (I hope I got her name right). It was nice to see that the salon was busy and that people are helping the students gain experiences. So first, I had the shellac manicure. I am not impressed with how the technician clean my nails. I can still see some loose dry skin around my nails which she didn't remove. She did not even cut my nails to have a uniform size. Though I like the mini hand massage after. For the pedicure, it was so fast I didn't even feel that she cleaned my toe nails as I was on the phone talking. I like the mini foot spa/massage though. I'll just hope that after every service or in between services, the educator should be checking the works done by their students if they did a good job or not. I wanted to know how much the masters esthetician class would cost and the first person gave me the information. My appointment was rescheduled with Bre and she would not give me any information. For 14k I wanted to know what I was getting into. She would not give me any information. She was VERY rude. You can only go 4 hours a day. I called around there's other places that are half the price and you can go 8 hours a day. Don't go here. She's unprofessional. This can be a good salon if budget is your primary concern and you don't mind a gamble. Depending on the student you get it might be an efficient service that looks good or you might spend 8 hours or more and leave unhappy. I totally understand that this is a school with students who are learning, however the instructors need to be more present and involved and check in on customers rather than waiting until the end when things are all wrong. I also do not feel students should be double booked. I've been here 4 times. The first two times I was there 3-4 hours for hair coloring (same person) and left super happy. The 3rd time the girl screwed up a shampoo & blow dry. But I will not return after the 8 hour experience I had today with a disappointing outcome. read more

I wasn't going to write a review, because I figured I take this issue straight to the owner. However, after speaking to the front desk receptionist I realized the public had to hear about my horrible experience as well. I chose this beauty school to do an all-over hair color because I've been there before when a friend of mine was studying there a few years back. I schedule my appointment online and thought all was well. I am a mother of 2 & thought it'd be okay to bring my little ones. Checked the website and they had no policy stating I could not bring my kids. Perfect! Right? Wrong. When we walk in, I check in and as I am walking to the restroom a woman comes behind me & informs me that my children cannot be in the "lobby" unsupervised since I am getting my hair colored. I use the term lobby loosely because its an open space and depending on the chair they put me in I could easily supervise my own children. I inform her that okay, no problem they can sit in the running car. She stated that they had reports of someone looking into the cars and asked if I was sure I wanted to do that. I told her they'd be fine I can FT while I start my service and figure something out and in the meantime. She shrugs her shoulders and walks off. I'm a seasoned mom so the idea that my kids were directly out front sitting comfortably in the car, in broad daylight was not alarming to me. Plus I have a remote start car that cannot move without the key being in the car. Disclosure: I have a sister who lives nearby and she was going to pick them up on her way to get her son from school at 3:30pm, she would have came sooner but just got her wisdom tooth removed so was waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. I thought okay great! its a win-win. in the hour I was sitting there I FT'd them a total of 16 times!! My appointment started at 2pm. When I sit in the chair the teacher and student are evaluating my hair and inform me that they could not do the color I wanted because my hair texture would not allow the student to finish on time. As I sit in the chair embarrassed that I'm at a beauty school and they cannot do my hair because of my black texture, I didn't want to just get up and leave. So I settle for a trim. An hour passes and only half of my hair has been trimmed. Then a police officer approaches me and states that they received multiple calls about my children in the car and explains, very nicely and apologetically, that they cannot sit there unsupervised. I didn't know this was a law especially since I knew they were in no danger, the car was running, the air was on & besides the FT calls every 10 mins, my boys had just walked in to use the restroom just 5-10 minutes prior and they were fine. Mind you my sister was on her way to pick them up!! The officer gave me a few options and said he would stay outside with the boys while I figure it out, I kindly let the student know that its best if we just stop the service (she still had the front half of my hair to do!) because how could I stay after that?! I stop at the front desk to inform them I'd like to leave a tip for the student but I was ignored. So I walk out and talk to the police officer who then informs me it was the staff/students that called the police, he apologized once again, gave the kids free Slurpee coupons and we all went our own way. Not only did I have to keep my cool because I didn't want to be the stereotypical angry black woman, I had to fight back tears at the very thought that my whole experience there felt like covert racism. From them not wanting to do my hair to calling the police and saying they were concerned about my children. I couldn't help but wonder why ? They had black students black staff.. & even though the student and teacher expressed that they never worked with textured hair much they shared a story with me about how they colored a woman's hair who was overprocessed with no issues. Were they truly concerned about the boys? because instead of offering a new time to come in or to allow the boys to sit in the lobby since I wasn't getting a color anymore just a trim, the staff's first instinct was to call the police. I keep thinking to myself what if the situation was worse? What if the officer wasn't so kind and understanding and decided to arrest me and have my boys taken away? I'm very disappointed with this establishment, and will never go back there again. So many things could have been done differently. For one a public policy about having kids in the lobby and a disclosure about textured hair services. If they had addressed these issues in the first place on their website I'm confident my experience would have gone differently. But then again who knows? All I know is as a good mom, a hard working woman, & a human being I deserved much better. read more

Today I went into EBC (Everett) for some foils. Understanding it is a beauty SCHOOL I made sure to manage my expectations before hand and went in hoping for the best but prepared to receive just an average job. Before I get into the details I want to say even my unmanaged expectations were met & exceeded. My hair seriously looks GREATTTT - Thank You Michelle W. Here's my experience. When I first pulled up I'm not gonna lie I kinda felt some type of way but I was already there so decided to go for it. When I entered the place it was really nice and clean. The front desk staff was very attentive and helpful and got me right with my stylist Michelle. She walked over and greeted me. She was super sweet and friendly and I immediately felt at ease. I sat down in the chair for my service with my frizzy mop at its finest. We discussed what I wanted and Michelle explained again as she previously did via messenger that what I wanted my not be possible with my hair. At this point I can't remember if she went and got her instructor Haley or if she just happened to pop in at the exact right time, something I noticed Haley doing often throughout my visit. Haley was on point. She had a great rapport with both her students and the salon customers. It was obvious to me that she was very knowledgeable and experienced and that she really enjoyed her job. Due to the uncertainty a test strip was done. This something that I have never seen done or even heard suggested in my many, many trips to salons over the years. Bravo ladies for having enough concern to double check whether or not my hair could take the service I wanted and not just going ahead and doing it potentially leaving me with an even bigger disaster on my head. After processing it turns out my hair could take it so Michelle proceeded with the foils. She like all of the other ladies I spoke with/dealt with today (Michelle, Haley, Laura (I hope this is her name - the cute short haired lady in the green shirt who loves to blow dry long hair & Morgan) was funny, friendly and still professional. After my foils came out Michelle toned my hair and she even managed to get rid of my horrible "Don King" grey stripes. The services ended with blow out and my hair looks amazing. Thanks to all that participated lol. My hair looks bright, smooth and even healthy. I left Everett EBC extremely happy and I will definitely be back to see Michelle and these other ladies again. I see big things in all of their futures. I never write reviews and I apologize for being long winded but after this experience I felt it was necessary to write a little something to express my gratitude and to let you all know about the amazing service I received today. I hope you get a chance to get in with one of these ladies before it's too late. Not pleased with the phone call I had. Been going to Evergreen for awhile since '07' . However I needed to change my appt I travel a long ways so I couldn't make it. 2nd, I didn't want a male student here is why. I've never been treated well by male students I've always been shamed looked at like I'm an alien, i.e. no smile no warmth this has happened kind of like when you go out on a date & you see that the person really doesn't want to be near you but they do it anyway out of some pity or something. The person I spoke with just didn't get it. I've been bullied by men my whole adult life, and for women that is pretty extensive. Since he didn't bother being sensitive I just decided to abort the call. He says 'we don't discriminate' Well who said anything about discrimination? And men have been doing the same thing forever towards women I've had it done to me b/c I'm not very attractive, or the men act weird. I've also had one male student at Evergreen just not show up this was last year after I came out many miles to get to my appt putting me through the inconvenience of having to wait for my ride. Whoever the man was on the other end failed to realize is there is a segment of women who've experienced discrimination, being demeaned and worse by men all of which has happened to me. I wished that the staff wouldn't be so one sided I think its great men want to do hair. But I need to place myself first. It isn't discrimination if I want a female to do my hair. It is a female dominated industry btw. I can feel more at ease & be myself. But I'll find somewhere else. It's time to move on from here. read more

Recently visited this place after reading reviews. Holy cow! Can you spell BIASED? This place is not exactly consumer ready. First of all, the only discount they offer are ones you have to "buy" into. Secondly, those discounts have a "1-year expiration". What! Again, you are buying them! OK people, get your s--- together. Thirdly, instructors are NOT of the caliber one would hope to be hired to help train future professionals.... On the plus side, some students (like the young lady that tended to me) have actually been raised right by their parents and are welcoming, talkative, and eager to help; however, too many young students walk around scowling at customers. While there, I found myself having to bring obvious problems to the attention of the lady at the front desk. She said she would pass the information on to the instructor, but somehow, I got the feeling she has no intention of doing so. You can attribute this thought to her body and face language. If you'd like to have a better experience, do yourself a favor, go to Paroba College (I am NOT affiliated with Paroba other than having been there as a customer) also located in Everett, instead. Its an older facility, but the professionals (instructors) there know how to treat clients and, yes, they offer discounts that you don't have to BUY! read more

As a person who has high expectations for facial waxing, I must say Evergreen Beauty College did not disappoint. I went into my appointment a little unsure as to what to expect. I'm very picky about my eyebrows and admittedly had doubts about a student's ability. My uncertainties were put to rest when Laney brought me back to the room. Her warm demeanor and smile immediately brought a comfort to the appointment. We ended up having a great conversation while she painlessly pulled the hair out of my face. (Seriously though, this was the least painful wax job I've ever had!) My eyebrows are really thick and it's not uncommon for them to end up slightly uneven after being waxed. Not this time! Laney did a beautiful job and truly put care and effort into her work. Though small parts of my face did still have wax on it when I got into the car (I didn't notice until later), I don't really have anything bad to say about my appointment. Each person working was kind, accomodating and professional. The building itself was very clean (one employee was even spot cleaning between customers) and did not have a strong hairspray/chemical smell like some places. Okay. You get what you pay for. If you let a student cut/color your hair...you don't get to ask for much. That said. The price for the men's/women's cuts is totally on par for having a STUDENT cut your hair. The cost to color your hair? Expect to pay salon prices...FOR STUDENT WORK. Ridiculous. I was referred to the beauty school by my girlfriend. I got a spa manicure as well as a pedicure from Kate Anderson. To my surprise the service was great!!! She was quick to put me at ease and made sure I was comfortable during the entire service. She was friending and walked me though everything the spa manicure and pedicure entailed. Kate was very professional. Overall the service was a relaxing and positive. Honestly probably one of the best manicure/ pedicures I have ever gotten. Over the years things happened and I let my Cosmetology license relapse. Now here I am 2021 thinking about going back to school and taking the nail technician program at Evergreen. Blair contacted me and was so Awesome, I was really nervous and had Chickened out a few times before but I finally I went through with the meeting. (I don't know why I was so nervous ... but growth and change is scary, especially as a single mom and one parent household) she was so Down to earth and helpful and she wasn't pushy she actually cared about my success. After talking with her the first time she made a zoom meeting appointment and let me know of some things that would be helpful to look into before are appointment, after talking to her I felt super confident in Getting back in the beauty field that I decided to sign up to get my cosmetology license Reinstated and that meant taking the state boards all over it again. Well it was time for the zoom meeting with her and we just started chatting and I let her know that I'm going to go ahead and get my cosmetology license back a,She was super honest and upfront and told me that I should work on getting my cosmetology license first before taking any more classes,This will save me time and money and I really appreciate her caring about what was best for me.She also gave me some great ideas to get prepared for taking my state boards. she helped me feel good About the decision I made and she had such a dope vibe and energy.
