They are all about building relationships with each other and helping all the attendees find and follow Jesus. What I enjoy most about our pastors is that they teach directly out of the Bible and also use other reliable resources to back up what the Bible is telling us. Everyone is welcome! And the church always has Some sort of gathering whether it be Study Groups, Church Camps, Parents Night out, Woman's Tea Parties or PotLucks. During the middle school sermon, private parts showing during a pants accident at a wedding was brought up, the pastor saying "you like Diddy" to a child was said, as well as some other things that made me feel like the twilight zone went on. I brought up my concerns to leadership and was told that I was not invited back to volunteer. My point wasn't to accuse, but to say hey, um I think that your pastor needs a refresher in what's Sunday school appropriate. I noticed most kids did not want to be in his group, they did not laugh at his jokes, and generally did not seem to enjoy it. I was disappointed at the lack of curiosity in my concerns and defensive response to what I think was a reasonable concern. I highly recommend volunteering, maybe I was just sensitive, maybe too protective. They need help so if you're a member volunteer. Pastor Dave says if you see a problem, that you're the answer. Haha guess not in this case. Also there was a weird "I'm the only black person here" comment..... idk. It was the weirdest Sunday School I ever saw. The HS band deserves 10 stars. Lots of good, but lots of odd.

They have excellent opportunities to get involved through children's ministry, youth ministry, adult ministries, older adult (Prime Time) ministry, Sunday school classes, and small groups that meet in homes across Olympia throughout the week. The church partners with Thurston County Food Bank to distribute food every 2nd and 4th Thursday to the community. The church also offers Red Cross blood drives about 4 times per year. They acted irritated they had to move out of the parking spots, although there was a huge empty walk way right there. Then they stood back in the parking lot with in inches of my car as soon as we were out of the car. The school age kids group was not welcoming. The lady signing kids in was ignoring us and on her phone scrolling. She called after us without looking up from her phone as we were leaving. The Kindergarten class has a nice teacher, she was sweet and hence the one star. People where critical and no one helped us but had so many people look at us and judge us. I just hope new people don't go here. If I thought this place represented Jesus I wouldn't go to church again. We will keep looking.

Pastor James Starr has a real God given gift for teaching the Bible and he does so in a way that everyone can relate to. This church doesn't make you feel bad if you can't give a tithe and the focus is always on teaching, giving back to the community and helping those in need. They do fundraisers and give to needy families. There is a very palpable sense of sincerity and love from the members.
