The part that isn't readily apparent when you tour this home-based childcare is that there are no caregivers present who speak English for 99% of the day. This may or may not be an issue for you. But, for small children who are just developing their language skills, it is a challenge. Just as important, my child wasn't able to communicate to the providers: my tummy hurts, he hit me, etc. And, I wasn't able to communicate with them during drop off or pick up: she has been emotional this morning, she didn't sleep well last night. But for the communication challenges, we would have stayed here, but it did not work for us.

AND HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE THERE NOT TO MENTION SHE WAS ONLY THERE FOR 2 DAYS! *DAY THAT HAPPENED* Around the month of january i enrolled my daughter into this daycare. Thinking it was a good fit since it was 5 minutes away from my house and i worked from 530am till 230pm in tukwila. They took her in around 440am. I took her to the in home daycare and dropped her off with a much older lady who i believe is the mother of the one who runs the big daycare on james street. Because she mentioned to me that is her mother. All of my paper work was right next to the signing in and out binder. I remember clearly having my daughter with all her hair up as a bun before i dropped her off to this lady. And ofcourse its her second day of daycare and she cryed for me. So i laid her on those kids fold beds they have in the rooms. And the lady told me to go because my daughter started crying. So i signed out and left. This time it was just them two in the home i believe!. So after work i came to pick her up around 245 pm and by this time 2 younger ladys where working there. The older lady was gone. So they gave me my daughter all ready with her backpack. Her hair in a bun BUT with her bangs down. I always put all her hair up because they were kinda long and needed some trimming.Anyways, No shoes so i had to carry her to the car. And when i got home my mother came a little after and gave her a kiss on the forehead which she lifted her bangs and saw a dry cut from that same day and we noticed on the same side of that cut she was limping while she walked.! She had a small bruise on her side and i just couldn't believe it! I felt as if someone hurt my child in that daycare ! I called the daycare and the daughter answered saying she doesnt know anything and she was going to call her mother and ask her about it. And she was going to give me a call back. They didnt! I took her to the hospital the same day and got her checked and x-rayed on her limping leg! The doctors heard my daughter saying "owee" because her leg hurted wen u touched it. THANK GOD SHE WAS OKAY.the next day i had called the lady again and i told her i was gunna go speak with her mother personally about my daughter. So she told me to go ahead. So as soon as i was parking my car, the daughter called me again and said something did happen. That my daughter had fallen off the bed beacuse she threw herself back when she was crying for me and her mom had forgotten to leave the "incident report"(Which till this day i have not seen) with the other 2 ladys that where there after. So i just started crying and just went to make a police report. I was not gunna take a fake written incident report that might of been done on my way there!. I did what in my heart was right!. They have NO cameras ! It was in investigation and i receieved a phone call about a month later from a lady asking about my daughters incident because she was investigating it as well and she asked me if i ever seen or recieved and incident report. So i told her no because i never have seen a incident report nor ever seen how one looks like! She said it was kinda weird because the police didn't receive one as well.! *Weird* I am just very FURIOUS! About this! Nothing has been done! And there exuse for cameras is that there working on it.. like really? How long have you been in business??? Till this day my daughter doesnt like stepping into chuckie cheese and being around so many kids! KiKi has been doing this for over 20 years, and you can tell by her home and her spirit she does this because she loves children. Kiki and her family have picked my children up and dropped them off when I didn't have a car to take them to her and she knew that I was very timmid about letting my kids stay with anyone. I have no plans of taking my children anywhere else and if you are looking for good child care with not having to worry about getting them there, or worry that they may get hurt or someone will harm them then this place will be your new heart and soul. Karen is nurturing and loving with babies and she supports and encourages learning with the older kids while still letting them be kids. She schedules one on one time with each kid each day for sit down learning time. No sterile, cookie-cutter "center" here, it's a loving home setting with fun activities, daily walks to the grade school (my preschooler loves playing on the playground at the big kid's school), a great backyard and location. I also like that it's located on quiet cul-de-sac where the older kids can ride bikes and scooters in nice weather. She provides transportation and after school care for Soos Creek Elementary, Emerald Park Elementary and Little Charger Preschool at Kentridge High so we plan to have our kids with Karen for a good long time. They are always super on top of diaper changes and feeding and naps, we get updates throughout the day and I never have to worry about my son while he's there. They are also great about doing lots of enriching activities with the kids, way more than I would be able to do or even think of myself, and they are really good about supervising the interactions between the kids so they get to experience positive social interactions with other babies. I believe the entire experience has been really good for my son's development and I'm incredibly happy with and grateful for the teachers, primarily Miss Emily and Miss Casey, although all the other teachers and helpers I've met have been awesome as well. It's definitely the most expensive childcare option in the area that I've seen but so far I've felt it's worth it, in large part thanks to the quality of teacher they are able to afford.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!…read more First, I want to say that the teachers in both the Preschool 1 and Toddlers 2 classrooms were incredibly kind. They were genuinely the only positive part of our experience at The Goddard School. Everything else was truly unacceptable. Before my children started, I had multiple conversations with the administration about my daughter's autism. I was transparent about her needs, discussed accommodations, and was repeatedly assured that she would be welcomed, supported, and that this was an inclusive environment equipped to work with children on the spectrum. Those promises were not kept. My daughter wasn't even given a full day before they decided to terminate her enrollment. She was not violent or aggressive--she was overstimulated and in a brand-new environment, and she needed support. Around 2:00 p.m., Fatima called me and asked to meet the following morning to create a support plan for my daughter. I immediately agreed because I believed we would be working together to help her succeed. Then, just two hours later, around 4:00 p.m., Kayla called and informed me that my daughter was being terminated instead. The complete reversal was shocking and deeply upsetting. As a parent of a child with disabilities, I cannot ignore how this situation felt. I believe the way my daughter was treated raises serious concerns, and I will be reporting what occurred. Another issue was the professionalism of the administration. During our tour, Fatima presented herself as warm, welcoming, and enthusiastic. Yet on our very first day, I observed her rolling her eyes while my children were simply excited and acting like children in a new environment. It was a completely different person than the one I met during enrollment. I also read Kayla's biography on the school's website, and unfortunately, the compassion and values described there were not reflected in how she treated my family. That evening, I sent an email seeking clarification about the decision to terminate my daughter and asking for an explanation of what had happened. I never received the courtesy of a response. When I returned to pick up my other two children, Fatima looked at me with a truly disgusting expression on her face instead of professionalism or empathy. I am sharing this experience so other families--especially those raising children with autism or other disabilities--can make informed decisions. If a school advertises itself as inclusive and capable of supporting children with special needs, those commitments should be genuine, not just part of the enrollment process. I was warned before I enrolled my kids here, don't make the mistake I did.
