The staffing is pretty decent with lot of float pool nurse filling in the shortage gap. The nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 is nice, the hospital has a lot of resources to help the staff, and the cafeteria offer a diverse range of food. Many staff ride bike on campus so there are a lot of bike rack area to store your ride. Staff have to park off site and take a bus to the main hospital. It annoying that during the football season staff have to park somewhere else or risk getting ticketed/towed. All in all, a pretty good place to work at.

I love doctor Sylvester and the staff is always kind and respectable. Today I brought my mother in who doesn't EVER go to the doctor because of a awful head/chest cold and I probably won't ever get her back in to one. I have a cough, but she ten times worse than me. The staff was respectable even having to work in pouring rain..they made us take a covid test, and the doctor came out to check us- nothing to see on my end other than a awful cough. My mother on the other hand, had wheezing which he said was pretty bad and wanted to know if she had an inhaler, coughing up yellow and green phlegm(you get the picture )..you can hear and see she is very ill.. Dr. Keller comes back out and says we are both negative, but we probably still have Covid- quarantine and good luck! I stopped him because we've been out in the parking lot for almost two hours and he isn't going to give us anything to help, we didn't come for a Covid test! We need medication because nothing we are taking is helping... he said take an OTC, which we already are, we wouldn't be here if it were working! He then decides to call in a medicine for our cough to take with an OTC. I stopped him again and ask him if he could prescribe something for my mother, his response was she needs to quit smoking (yes, she does), and she can call him tomorrow or Monday.. why not today.. if we probably have Covid and it's so deadly why isn't he going to treat our symptoms!? He hasn't seen bacterial bronchitis from IT, so he didn't want to prescribe an antibiotic. I asked from what, he said what is probably Covid! So the test says negative, but it's probably Covid, but it couldn't be bronchitis.. Never in my life. I'm so disappointed maybe if our tests were positive we would have been treated differently. This is my second meeting with Dr. Keller and he pushed the Covid vaccine at my UTI visit after having a baby.. both of us are not vaccinated, which he was displeased.. I've had Covid already..I felt like he didn't want to help us and of course the one time I get her to go to the doctor we get a good luck champ! Awesome! I will go to another walk in clinic if he is the only doctor running the show. I will continue to make my usual appts, but not with him.

Just sometime before they close. This Med Express facility is now operated by Bon Secours, and apparently they do not have patient records from Med Express, Sentara or UVA. By contrast, Sentara's Urgent Care on High St was able to see me immediately, had access to all of my medical records and the care was excellent.

This clinic is out in a rural area, much of their clientele are poor and sickly, salaries must be pretty low, and they have had some problems with turnover. And I would have to see a LPN or PA rather than an MD. But they have been excellent. My previous dr was a big city internist from a famous medical school who had been highly recommended, but the PA I see at Blue Ridge has been a BETTER provider. He gets to know you, his information flow is excellent on medicines, treatments, medical conditions, his knowledge is extensive and up to date, and he strikes a perfect balance between recommending options and providing information to let me make decisions. I can post questions and requests to the patient portal and they usually call me the next day with a response. Another nice touch is the lack of authoritarian status games -- the providers go by their first names. Plus the facility is very nice, the staff have been professional, and they don't make you wait a lot. My doubts were misplaced. I can recommend this facility whole heartedly.
