I really like Dr. Sheffield. I have seen a different dr there when Dr. Sheffield wasn't available.

I have heard from others (including other medical professionals) and patients who have had total…read moreknee replacements, so I have a good perspective for rating Dr. Aric Christal (Proliance, Edmonds Orthopedic Center). His surgical skills are outstanding and without question was the most recommended. I had no difficulty at all post op. My surgery was done at Proliance Surgical Center and their staff are the best (not surprised) and Dr. Christal's support staff at the Proliance Orthopedic Center in Edmonds were responsive, friendly and very efficient (again, not surprised). Another very important issue is the thoroughness with which Dr. Christal prepares his patients for surgery. He builds into the process the conscientious attention to detail and in particular his instructions regarding limiting the chance of infection by starting "decolonization" five days before surgery and setting PT goals early were appreciated. His pain management is stellar and I recovered with lightening speed. [My physical therapy was handled by Evergreen Home Health, so see also their yelp review.] I would recommend Dr. Christal to anyone seeking knee surgery. He is by far the best surgeon I've ever had... and he's also a genuinely nice guy who obviously cares about the welfare of his patients. (Feel free to contact me through Yelp)

A sudden mobility issue happened back on 2/17/26. Working with my primary care facility and…read morephysician at Pacific Medical Center - Shoreline, I was referred to, had Xrays completed and evaluated at Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care that evening. The PA-C seen referred me to Edmonds Orthopedic Center (affiliated with Proliance Surgeons), located also at the Swedish Edmonds medical campus. My initial evaluation was with Michael Lee, MD on 2/23/26 where it was determined a MRI was needed to make a definitive diagnosis. This was completed at an affiliate site, North Puget Sound MRI in Mountlake Terrace on 3/6/26. My MRI results and next steps were addressed again with another appointment with Dr. Lee on 3/12/26. The MRI brought to light my current situation and potential future issues to be made aware of. I also received a cortisone steroid shot to help reduce discomfort and inflammation at this visit. My recovery is still ongoing, just thankful no physical therapy and/or surgical intervention are needed at this time. Yes, one has to deal with the wait (blame the insurance and medical care system in the US). Overall, I have been pleased with the professional care provided without the hassles of having to see similar organizations in downtown Seattle. It is much more accessible as a Shoreline resident to be seen at northend sites in Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. My interactions via phone, online, and onsite have been favorable. Pro tips: Understand that time is needed to have referrals reviewed and approved by one's insurance coverage, especially if there were any policy changes. This does affect scheduling and copays. Exercise your patience, do your due diligence to follow up, ask questions and for clarity to advocate for the best outcome for your care. Give yourself extra time to locate parking, whether on the adjacent street, main parking lot, or parking garage whether you are dropped off or driving yourself. It does get congested and not fun with limited mobility and inclement weather. The common areas like lobby, elevators, and waiting areas are busy so be proactive to wear a mask and/or use hand sanitizer. Complete any online check-in requests prior to your actual onsite appointment. This will streamline your check-in process. Copays can be paid ahead or at the check-in counter. Good luck and hope you have as good an outcome like what I experienced!

I interviewed 4 surgeons, and did 10 years of PT and avoiding a Total Hip Replacement, probably because I was so frightened of having surgery. But I trusted Dr Rothenberg immediately, and was incredibly impressed with the Pre- and Post-surgical care and I had a very successful experience. So grateful Words cannot express. This type of surgery of only around 100 years old, so think of the millions of older adults who gimped around in pain the second half of their life. (TEARS!)

I am a bad, BAD patient. I say that upfront, so you know that whatever I write, for whatever…read morefacility or surgeon, is from the perspective of an admittedly BAD PATIENT! I am the biggest wuss in the world, and I can't stand the thought of not being in control of what happens to my body. Still, I give this place a solid 4 stars. Probably closer to 5 stars, really. The staff here is as great as it gets. I had some cortisone spinal injections here, and I'd only consider coming in if I was assurred IV sedation. I was told to check in at 1:30pm, and I was there by 1:20pm. I was in a lot of pain so I couldn't sit, so I stood in the waiting room. After signing a few papers, I waited until 2:15pm or later, until I was told I could go inside. (Having a 45+ minute wait when one is in distress and very anxious isn't the best, hence my not giving this place 5 stars). RN Linda was amazing, as she tried to put me at ease. The nurse who started my IV was great; I didn't feel a thing (I think her name was Kerry). Unfortunately, I didn't feel a thing from the sedation at all, ever. I was told it'd be analagous to "a two martini lunch". I was okay with that. (Ideally I'd have wanted general anasthesia, but they can't do that for this procedure. I understand that. But have I mentioned that I'm a huge wuss? And I was incredibly anxious, my heart racing, soooooo nervous). Even after they turned on the sedation drip in the procedure room, and I said I wasn't feeling any results at all of said drip, they still didn't titrate the dose or up the drip a bit. This is another reason I'm not assigning 5 stars here; I needed sedation and I didn't get it. Plus, it would've been better for me had they started the sedation while I was waiting in the ante-room, after they put in my IV (there was a 40 minute wait for my turn in the OR, and I was really, really nervous). That said, the nurses were wonderful in every other way, and my surgeon, Dr. Wen, was incredible. He explained what he was going to do, he tried to alleviate my fears, and he was incredibly adept at what he does and, best of all, it was over with quickly. If I have to do this again (which I might), I will definately come back here, and see Dr. Wen. FYI: the procedure room was ice cold. My teeth were chattering. Even the nurses were commenting that it was "colder than usual". Also, after the procedure, when they bundle you up to go, they do so quickly. I found all my electrodes on the next day. They get you outta there fast. I appreciated how they give you a survey, to get your input, after the fact, and also how a nurse called up the following day to inquire how I was doing.
