I was recommended to contact Shawn at Prosper Insurance by a good friend of mine, who also happens to be my Realtor, while looking for Home Owners Insurance. Since my husband and I are first time home buyers, and I am the one doing the "hard work" of getting all the paperwork in order, I was a little overwhelmed with all of the information out there. Shawn was wonderful and worked amazingly fast to get me not only Home Owners Insurance quotes, but quotes for Auto, Flood, and Term Life Insurance as well. I called the company my husband and I have been using for the last 4 years as our insurance provider (renters, auto and life) to get a Home Owners Insurance quote from them and spent a lot of time on the phone and felt like I was being sold something. The quote wasn't that much better or worse from what Shawn had given me, but since Shawn had gone out of his way to get quotes for those 3 policies on top of the Home Owners, we decided to go with him (plus the rates and policies he gave were better than what we currently have). Shawn is very easy to talk to, explains things well and makes sure all of your needs are covered, all without making it feel like a sale. He is easy to reach via phone and email. I have also been in contact with his co-worker Peter about getting a more specific Life Insurance policy quote (which,when bundled with our Auto coverage, will help our Auto Insurance rate go down). Peter also explained things very well and since I have never in my life shopped for Life Insurance, I felt very comfortable talking with him. All in all, the folks at Prosper Insurance Group seem like a well rounded, level headed group that don't make you feel pushed into a sale and I would highly recommend at least calling them for a quote or estimate. read more

There should be negative stars. Prosper was my agency for 5 years but this year I received approximately 70% increase and couldn't understand why (no claims, excellent credit). They couldn't explain why my homeowners policy from Homeowners Of America, went up $840 WOW. So I called the Homeowners of America and they were even worse, remember NO CLAIMS, CREDIT SCORE 850. But Joel from Prosper said he would research it and find a better rate LOL. In the meantime I called my auto insurance company Geico and in 15 minutes they quote me $1540 policy which was still $350 more than last year but much less than that crazy increase. I then get an email from Joel how he can save me $500 and gives me the same quote I got in 15 minutes from Geico (some research LOL). So in reality the scam is lets see if the homeowners catches the 70% increase if they do then we can save face by saying we save them $500 when actually its cost me $350 more than the previous year. The kicker is Joel wanted to charge me another $149 to write another policy LOL. Geico will do that for free so I will take that $149 and treat myself. I will still see if I can find it cheaper tomorrow, buyer beware they are not working for you! read more

This review is specifically for Shannon Bell, on the personal insurance side. I have been a client for over 10 years, customer service had gone down hill and personal touch was lost over the years with expansion and consolidation of the company, changed names a few times, Prosper, Goosehead?, now Evertree. One of my policies had doubled in principle without prompting a discussion, one of my auto policies had expired w/o me noticing. I'm sure a letter was sent... but no call, no email, no text. Anyway, just as I was shopping my own policies and ready to end my relationship with them, I received a call from Shannon who had noted the increase in my principle and offered to shop it around. Saved me 2k per year with a few phone calls. I am now moving over some auto policies to her control. She is very sharp and knowledgeable. I would fully recommend Evertree as long as you can request Shannon to be the one managing your policies. I've never personally dealt with an independent insurance firm before. There are several out there. Some have ads on the t.v. Prosper does not. I believe they roll their money back into the business so you get a better service. Michael Hunt is my agent. I recently purchased a house in Norfolk. He helped me get the best deal on homeowners insurance and also was able to lower my auto insurance premiums as well. I had shopped around on my own many years back to get lower auto insurance and I ended up going with the Elephant. At that time they were even with the General for coverage & price. With Michael & Prosper I was able to get better coverage for my cars and still save money. Also with them I now have an actual person I can go to see if I ever need help with claims or coverage or whatnot. With the Elephant all I had was a voice on the phone when I could get through or a robotic online helper agent, who was not helpful at all. I was very dissapointed with the insurance carrier when a large policy I put in place for a commercial real estate deal was verbally denied due to a clerical error. Fantastic assistance from Joel with my auto insurance. After three years of the premium with another company going up I called a few competitors. I was amazed at the customer support and service.
