Came here for a big release movie - was initially skeptical as my husband and I have been spoiled by the iPic theatre in Maryland that has full service dining and comfortable reclining seats. But since this place is so close to us - we decided to give it a shot. Let me just say, this place has potential. Upon walking in - there is a decent sized arcade that appeared to have a good amount of games and was relatively clean. Good addition to a theatre I'd say. The concession space was typical of any movie theatre. We opted for the 21 and above "VIP section". (Which after 4:00pm you can head upstairs to enjoy movies without kids - very nice touch). We arrived about an hour early to have drinks at the bar upstairs (Chatterbox). First glance this place looks pretty neat, gives old school vibes ; think Great Gatsby esque. The bartenders were really friendly and the experience was nice. Looks as if there could be some updates done to some of the furniture, noticed some loose chairbacks, wobbly tables, etc. - but did not ruin the experience. Even was a billiards table to pass the time. This is a great space to enjoy a few words with friends or significant others before the movie. After we made our way into the theatre, it was large and spacious and the screen and sound was excellent. It appears you can head into the theatre up to an hour before which is nice because you can get settled in before the show. You are able to scan a menu via QR code and have food/drinks brought out to you. The food menu was pretty robust and food was good (keeping in mind this is a theatre - I did not expect 5 star dining) ; it did the job. The service during the movie did not interrupt enjoying the film too much. However the biggest qualm I had with this place began even before the movie started, is the format of the seating. The seating includes large plush reclining chairs/loveseats. Most seats are loveseats with partitions on both sides -which is nice for privacy. There are some single chairs throughout but not many. However when buying two tickets online, the computer auto selects your seats. You are unaware of where you will be seated until after the tickets are purchased. This is a departure from what I am used to as most luxury movie theaters allow you to select your seats, just like you would on an airline! But we found out that having two tickets beside each other does not mean you will get a conjoining love seat. A couple may get two seats with a partition in between the chairs. Which is what my husband and I were stuck with. A nice date night with a huge partition blocking you and your SO is less than desirable. This also means you may be seated randomly next to a stranger on a loveseat. I think the theatre needs to change their website to allow people to select their desired seating because this is a huge disaster and turns an enjoyable movie experience into a nightmare. I saw many other couples experiencing this issue as well. Luckily my husband was able to run down to the main floor and manually get our chairs changed to the only open loveseat in the theatre (this was not easy and he almost missed the beginning of the film - we got there earlier to avoid lines and he stilled ended up in one). I will give this place another chance, because the bar, the food, and the theatre itself was good. But playing roulette on where you will be seated in the theatre is not what I'd call a enjoyable movie night. Fix that, and you will improve the experience tremendously. read more

I drove down to Fredericksburg because it's the closest place that was showing The Mummy for Flashback Cinema. Theater 4 was actually very clean so I had no complaints for the viewing experience itself but the concession area was very dirty. Which I didn't expect since it was only 1:15pm they can't have been open for very long. It honestly makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the rest of the place that wasn't easily visible if you know what I mean. read more

This was the most unbelievable, unforgettable moviegoing experience I've EVER had (and not in a good way). We arrived to Evo at 8:45am for a 9am showing of Wicked 11/29/24. Upon arrival in the parking lot we heard loud music. We thought it was coming from a nearby car but no, as we walked closer to the theater entrance Train's Soul Sister was playing louder than anyone should ever hear it. Amused I turned to Jeff and said welcome to the rave... he couldn't hear me. Once inside the concession line was already about 30 patrons deep. We decided that we didn't need popcorn so early and wanted to claim our seats and use the facilities before the previews started. The entry door was partially eclipsed by a trash cart the entry hall smelled like food and faintly of vomit. As we turned the corner we saw the most "wicked dirty" theater we have ever seen. EVER. See pics. Every row was marred with liter, food, popcorn etc. Other patrons had found cleaning supplies and were already clearing out their seats and wiping them down. Our seats were clear but on either side of us there was obscene amounts of trash and a variety of partially eaten food. I went to the lobby to complain and request cleaning service in our theater. The guest service desk was unmanned although there was already a long line. A man behind the concession counter kept making eye contact with us in the guest service line and making a gesture of "just a moment" at about 9:05am he still hadn't sent help or come to address our line. So I went beck to the theater. The previews were running. The sound was very muffled. The crowd was talking about the poor sound quality. When the movie started we all had expected the sound to improve, it did not. About 10 minutes into the film my husband leaned over and whispered would you like me to go and complain? (Because it's a musical). Knowing no one was at customer service to help I said let's try to power through. About 5 minutes later the movie paused. Then stopped completely. It restarted from the Beggining of the previews. The sound quality was still terrible. Knowing I now had at least 20 minutes before I'd miss any new content. I followed six other patrons out of the theater to make another go at resolution. After waiting in the guest service line again an older gentleman walked up to the man running the snack counter. I didn't hear what he initially said but the answer from the theater worker was shouted: "I already restarted it to fix the sound!" The patron then said "well the sound is still bad." Worker: "What do you want from me?" Patron: "I want to speak with a manager." Worker: "I'm the manager and I'm the only person here so..." having watched this interaction, derived that the mangers idea of making things right was to restart a movie 40 min after it was supposed to have begun without any communication or apologies and knowing that satisfaction was not going to happen for us on site, I resigned myself to be patient with the sound and hope that the theater would make good with us after for the poor experience but upon entering theater #6 hall, I witnessed another theater worker hunched over the garbage eating from it. I was so disgusted that I walked near my seat and motioned that the we should leave. Jeff and I walked out before the second set of previews were even finished. As we left the sound was worse than the before the manager had restarted it. We are now on the phone with fandango to get a refund. Date night to see the new Twister movie at the "Lux Box". Bought the tickets early at the counter downstairs and it was going great. The gentleman working the counter was excellent and a pleasure. Arrived at 6:15PM to stop have a drink at the Chatterbox. It was closed and the lady at the desk informed us not so enthusiastically we needed to order via the toast app by scanning the QR code on the seat. The theatre was dirty, we had pizza crumbs on the seat, popcorn leading a trail to the seating area and the floor was sticky as if it was covered in week old coca-cola. Ordered popcorn and two beers. Popcorn came within 10 minutes. The two beers, without glasses came twenty minutes later. The movie was ok. Asked two guys hanging out in the lobby at the desk area when the Chatterbox would be open and they had no idea. read more

Came during the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday season. As a family we went three days in a row to see several movies. Each day there was only one staff member working concessions and the ticket line. The line of customers waiting for concessions was very long at times it reached the front entrance. One of the days the computer system went down, they weren't serving hot food upstairs, so they offered free popcorn and drinks to those in line. Which if you waited you likely missed the first 20 minutes or so of your movie. The trash bins were overflowing everywhere. It was a hot mess! Not a good experience service wise. read more

Unacceptable New Year's Eve Experience On New Year's Eve, my experience at EVO Fredericksburg was beyond disappointing. * Arcade Issues: No game cards available, and no solutions offered. * Bar Chaos: One overwhelmed bartender to man the bar and all the penny lanes * Filthy Bathrooms: The smell of urine was overwhelming, even in the hallways. * Theater Disaster: Waited 40 minutes past the start time, only to be told the movie couldn't be found. To top it off, the manager, Tracy, tried to deny the existence of our 10 PM show, refused to speak with us, and hid in the projection room. She then made her employees relocate an entire theater of people. This location was understaffed, poorly managed, and unsanitary. I expected a fun evening and instead got a total mess. The manage also refused any refunds as well. Would not recommend until major changes are made. I also want to advise that I made a yelp account just to write this review! The sound proofing is dreadful. And the bathroom, the paper towel dispenser gives you less than six inches of paper towel. It's almost comical. And the food is beyond expensive. read more

What a treat. Enjoyed the Lux Box at the paragon. Super pilot staff that showed me up and also escorted me to my auditorium. What is also nice is the bar code on your seat to download and order your food which was immediately delivered to our seats. And if you're not familiar with the Lux Box, it's for couples so you have some privacy to enjoy the show which was an added treat. Will def be going back read more

This place has only gotten worse, despite their attempts at making it better. The bar for the adult theater is closed on a Sunday, the one in the game area didn't acknowledge us for 10 min so we went to our seats. Now 25 min we still haven't recd our order, except for the soda that I ordered as a secondary thought. I'll go out of town for movies from now on. Edited to add that we did finally get our drinks an hour and a half in, after they got everyone else's drinks. Heard that the printer in the bar wasn't working, however we still had to tell them what we ordered, interrupting us watching the movie. I've been willing to give this place a chance over the years and have been disappointed 4 out of 5 times there. The management has been lacking since day 1 (I was there for their opening weekend), this place is obviously too big for anyone in this town to manage. The bathrooms tonight were atrocious, mildew rings in the ladies room toilets and I'm told the men's room floors were sticky. I've been to cleaner dive bars. The cleanliness and upkeep of this theater has really gone down hill. I recently went to see Deadpool in one of the 4K theaters (costs extra for some reason). My chair was broken so i let them know. A manager came and took the chair apart and told me the frame was bent and it would need to be fixed. They didn't offer to move me so I sat at an angle the entire movie as I went with a group. There was so much trash under the seats I'm surprised they don't have rats. read more

Evo is nothing like Paragon used to be in the early days. Food in Splitsville was AWEFUL. No ice tea, several menu items not available, con queso was separated and watery. Asked for silverware was give a plastic fork, ketchup packets, a to go ranch packet, salt and pepper in to go packets. Charging main resturant prices. Really. So sad. First off this place used to be great now it's mediocre at best. We chose the dine in seats upstairs. It was uncomfortably hot in the theater and out in the lobby. But the theater as a whole was dirty popcorn and trash all over. Our movie wasn't out five minutes and the lady said it was clean, no way. The service at the seats was okay but no option to call the server if you just wanted a refill. We got there early and sat at the bar the only two there and the bartender was very distracted he took my order but completely ignored my husband who also wanted food and disappeared for like 15 minutes. Not a very good experience. The games in the arcade are mostly broken as well as the air conditioning system as well. I'm giving one star only because a couple people were trying to make this a good experience. Thank you the the theater server and the man who sold us the tickets up front. read more

This theater has really gone downhill since Evo Entertainment took over. We used to love coming here and doing the dine in theater. The food was good, the seats were comfortable, and the theater was always clean. Now it's the exact opposite. Last time we ate here the food was mediocre and actually cold. The air conditioning was broken. One poor employee had been battling the heat so bad that we got a nice whiff of B.O. when they brought us some water. My seat was broken and leaning to the side. Thankfully I love my spouse and was okay rolling/leaning toward her the entire film. We tried once more thinking maybe it was just a bad day. This time we didn't order food but were surprised to find the air conditioning still broken. And the entire place is filthy. Trash overflowing. Bathrooms and floor not attended to. Very sad to see such a great spot being so neglected and quickly going downhill. read more

I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. My family and I showed up at 6:30 for a 7:20 showing of Red One. We were allowed to enter the theatre and order food. Our food order was placed at 6:53 and at 7:15 I went outside to ask for the drinks and candy we ordered and was asked to go sit back down. At 7:20 the movie started and shortly after that the drinks and candy came. It took 1 hr and 22mins for the food to come out. Once the food came out, my daughter's burger was wrong and my wife's shrimp wrap didn't come out. It took another 30mins after that for her food to come. Refills were never offered for bottomless drink and napkins did not come out with food. I spent about $200 to take my family to a movie and dinner and it was more stress and agitation than ordering snacks and just sitting down lower. Paying extra for seats that offer food delivered, to not receive a piece of food or drink and yet money was sure taken off of my card ill have to refute. Don't trust this theater or give them your money, and definitely do not pay for the evx seats as there's no guarantee you'll get served. Best part is no one said anything to us about it, and in a 3 hour movie that's beyond a mistake. So please if you see this try the regal across the road if you want a positive experience and to not be ripped off. We now see ththat there hhas been a huge decline in care, cleanliness and professionalism since the theater switched hands. Our first eexperience was with Paragon and we loved it. What happened? This use to be a great movie theater! Now it's the worst. I won't be coming back. I bought tickets for the 11/29/24 7pm Wicked show. There was no one that checked our tickets. Only 2 teenagers at the customer counter. Filthy floors, popcorn everywhere no staff around. What was even worst was the theater itself. I was in theater #10 not only dirty floors, the sound of the movie was so low I could hear the person next to me chewing her popcorn. What happened to the movie experience? I paid to see the movie in the theater. If this is what "going to the movies" is, count me out. The women's bathroom definitely had not been touched, no toilet paper in the stalls other than what was on the floors. Someone dropped their soda & it was just left there. Popcorn spilled on the chairs and floor (an entire bucket of popcorn). Empty Crown Royal bottle in the seat next to us (see photo). Movie started with muffled sound. Movie reset to the beginning thirty minutes in. Manager reset the movie without telling anyone to attempt to correct the sound. Sound was still muffled. Went to complain and watched a theatre employee eat fries from the night before, right out of the trash. This place was truly awful. We got to the theater at 6:35, our movie started at 7. Two employees, who were nice enough, working the concession stand to try and manage the 60+ people waiting in line for food. We get to the counter only to be told anything from the kitchen would take 30-40 minutes. We order anyway, and it's now 7:10. We sit down in the theater only to realize the movie had already started (no previews). The theater wasn't very clean. Half hour later one of us checks on our food. Not ready. 20 minutes later I go, only to find out they hadn't even started it. The movie was halfway over and between us we both missed almost ten minutes each not to mention missing the beginning. We got a refund on the food but this was just ridiculous. We won't be back, I'd rather drive the extra few miles to Alamo in Woodbridge. read more

Terrible experience. Paid for the Lux Box seats to dine and watch Wicked. The food took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to me after ordered, which happened to many other guests (and luckily the movie is pretty long). Once I got my food, they forgot the condiments, which the server confirmed would bring, however he wasn't seen again. One manager came up handing out food, saying he was "raising hell" in the kitchen, and was very rude and loud while the movie was playing. And to add on top of that, the foot rest of the recliner was uncomfortably crooked due to the extended use over time. Also, do they scan tickets anymore? Last couple times no one was present to scan tickets or whatnot. There was even a little argument between guests over seats. I have had positive experiences many times in the past here, especially when it was Paragon, however this place has severely gone downhill. I would honestly consider going north or to Richmond (possibly Culpeper, I haven't been there in a while though) until the issues are addressed and fixed here. I used to really enjoy going to this theater. It was worth every penny back when it had the 21-and-over section upstairs. You could sit down, order food, have a drink, and actually watch a movie in peace. Now, it's completely different. You're stuck dealing with crying babies, kids running up and down the aisles, and people playing on their phones the entire time. What was once an ideal spot for adults to enjoy a movie is no longer the case. It's not worth the money anymore--you might as well just go to Regal, there's no real difference now. I try my best to come from a place of understanding but Damon (I assume the manager) truly ruined my experience at this location this evening. My ears are still ringing from the dangerously loud playback of the film that I went to go see. I am going to have my ears tested this week because I am afraid that I have major hearing loss from tonight. While I understand that this is an uncontrollable, the way the situation was handled is controllable and was handled POORLY. Damon (I assume the manager) told me, and the group I came with, that he would rectify the situation. We were told to wait 5-10 minutes for the volume to be fixed and the movie would start. It took approximately 20 min for it to start. We gave it another chance and stayed to watch the movie - only for the movie to cut at the end. At this point I can no longer stay because I have to work tomorrow. This is why we came to a 430 showing. Damon told us to wait 5-10 minutes for it to cut back to the end, but I didn't have that time. I cannot get my time back. It was wasted and abused by this location. Damon, I appreciate the voucher, but a refund is more appropriate. I do not live in this area. I will not be able to use this voucher. Now my hearing has been compromised and my money taken. Very VERY disappointed in this movie theater. Went to see the Wild Robot with my family, two sons and my husband, bought tickets online so they were on MY phone, husband went to go and get a refill of popcorn without the ticket, again...on MY phone, and they had no problem letting him back in, Husband goes out once more because, for some reason, they keep the theater at a balmy 79 degrees...so he needed some air, tries to come back and now all of the sudden he needs to provide a ticket...which I'll remind everyone a third time, IS ON MY PHONE...WHICH WE ARE NOT TO LOOK AT WHILE WATCHING THE MOVIE. So my husband texted me for the ticket, and ended up missing the last half of the movie because some dipshit at the ticket counter WHO WATCHED US COME IN suddenly decided that the man that went through twice before now needed to show the e-ticket. Dirtiest, filthiest, grossest theater in the area. It used to be very nice. Most seats are broken, old nasty food everywhere. Butter grease everywhere. Surprised the health department hasn't shut them down. Owner/manager told me they were going through some renovations months ago. Went back to check it out again and it was so much worse. Employees seem miserable. I feel like I need a shower in hand sanitizer immediately after leaving and then a real shower when I get home. Not to mention, movies are way overpriced on any day but Tuesday. For 2 people without food or drinks. Just tickets cost me just shy of $40. I will never go back and I hope it gets shut down. We love going to the movies. We go A LOT. I will only go to Regal in the F'burg area for now on. I would rather drive an hour away to go the movies than go to Evo again. read more

Long overdue five star review. What inspires me today is how management handled the malfunction of the feature film a friend and I took our kids (7 total) to see this afternoon: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The dialogue audio completely cut out about 3/4 of the way thru and only the sound effects and orchestra could be heard. Sadly they were not able to troubleshoot in real time but afterwords the Manager met with all of us as we were coming out and issued vouchers as well as refunds all around. What I liked about that is tho a standard solution for this problem, they really seem to sincerely regret that our movie had not been the experience we expected. They said things like "we're sorry and I want to make sure you get your money back or whatever we can do." They made it right. Been going to this movie theater/bowling alley/arcade for some years. It's well-maintained, affordable, great staff, etc. I would highly recommend the theater to anyone hoping for great customer service In the lobby and Big comfortable recliners in the show room. We went to this theater for the 7 years I have been coming to Fredericksburg. 12/28/24 we went and they finally changed over from paragon to evo, well the guy at the counter for the tickets needed my code... he was nice, but kept having me repeat the code for my tickets, and when I repeated it, he asked to repeat again... instarted from the beginning and kept saying he heard me, then asked again to repeat. We finally got the tickets and went for concessions. The lady was also nice but we asked for two hotdogs. She said they only had one... (this was at 1pm) and offered a refund or something else. We asked for a pretzel. She brought it, and waiting for the Mozzarella sticks was a chore. $11 for 4 sticks when it used to be $11 for that and fries. When we tried to eat the pretzel, it was hard as a rock. Guess we will stick to popcorn only next time. read more

I purchased 3 tix to see Moana 2 with my grandchildren a few days ago. I received a confirmation but when I went to the theater the info was not coming up on my phone. I showed the credit card used and proof of the charge to my credit card and I indicated the 3 seats that were reserved. The personnel were obnoxious and embarrassing me. I wish I had read all of the awful reviews before I drove an hour here for nothing. My family went there to celebrate our anniversary. We splurged on the box seats so that we could get table service. My daughter is blind and requires the use of the descriptive audio headset in order to enjoy the movie. This system has been readily available at every theater we have been to in the last 10 years. Out of an abundance of caution, I tried to find the information on their website to confirm this was available. They had no "Accessibility" tab or information, so I tried calling them. I called 3 times over 3 days, left messages, but nobody ever returned my calls. We decided to go anyway since every theater we have been to has the AD for the visually impaired. When we arrived, there was nobody at the Customer Service desk. It was obvious the the place was severely understaffed especially for a holiday week. We asked the young man taking tickets if there was anyone working the customer service desk, and he said there were no managers on duty that day. My husband stood in the long line at the concession stand to ask for help. A young lady came over to help us, and tried to give my daughter a closed captioning headset for the deaf. I explained to her that would not work as my daughter is blind and required the AD headset. She said they don't have that and left. After discussion with my family, we decided it would be best to just get our money back and leave as it was obvious we wouldn't be getting any table service and my daughter could not enjoy the movie. We miraculously found a manager who was working at the concession stand, explained the situation, and asked for a refund. He said that they did have the AD headset, and we went back to the Customer Service desk to get it. At this point, my daughter was so elated that she would be able to watch the movie after all. Alas, he tried to give us a headset that had enhanced audio for the hearing impaired. He refunded our money, and we left. We drove an hour to get there only to have our special day ruined. I will not be going back there-ever! BTW- it is required through the ADA to have the audio description available, and they were in violation of the law. If I could give it 0 stars I would. It's been a year since I came here... went completely down hill. Popcorn stale, no ice for drinks, incompetent staff. Recliner seats half broken. Didn't feel like the AC was on, so it was so uncomfortable during the movie. I will not be returning. read more
