The last few times I have had my haircut I haven't walk out feeling that great. I have also been struggling personally with how I look and feel over the last year due to issues with my health. Having just recently moved to Denver and needing a haircut, I wasn't too excited about getting it done. Trying a new salon in my mind was just more of "let's get this over with and continue to feel like crap". At least I can get my grays covered and that was all I was expecting. But when I got to my appointment everyone was super nice when they greeted me so it was hard to be a Debbie downer based solely on the professionalism of the staff. Then I met Amanda. I had explained to her my frustrations and she listened. She explained her thoughts and ideas how she could fix them. Again, given my last few experiences and how I felt, I had little hope that the next stylist would make it work, BUT I WAS WRONG! And THANKFULLY I was because Amanda has magical powers to transform your hair and your confidence. She even taught me how to style my hair a way I have asked every stylist the last several years to do....she did it! She made impossible - possible and it seemed effortless! This was really one of the best things to have happened to me in a while that has made me feel confident again. I am now excited again and despite my health issues, feeling more confident and alive! BEST haircut of my entire life thanks to Brianne! I'm the rare type of woman who absolutely hates going to salons, and I avoid them at all costs. I've had so many bad experiences with my long, super thick, board straight hair - it seems that no one can cut it properly. I always plan to wear it pulled back for a few weeks until it can grow out. Not this time! I'm so happy with it. I just had it done a couple of hours ago and I've already received compliments from people I don't even know. I also donated 8" of hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program (they make wigs for women with cancer) today, and Brianne knew just how to do this. I had the instructions printed, but she already knew how to section my hair out into multiple ponytails to preserve as much hair as possible after the ponytails are cut off. It was a dramatic change, and I also decided to get bangs...so I was pretty scared at first. But Brianne was super easy to talk to, and I trusted her pretty quickly. She confirmed every step before making any changes, and made sure I understood just how much hair was being cut and what to expect. It was nice to be able to relax and not be on guard to "stop the scissors" as I usually do when the stylist starts making "slight" changes I didn't want or request. Excellent scalp massage, perfect even cut, and exactly as much styling (most overdo it even when I ask them to not to!) as I wanted. I came in with photos and left with a haircut that couldn't have been a better match. I jumped around salons for years in my home state trying to find the right stylist. So glad to have found my perfect match here in Denver already! Instead of dreading my next haircut, I'll actually look forward to it. Also, the front desk girls were all friendly and helpful both on the phone (I called more than once with questions,) and I believe it was the salon owner or manager who stopped by to ask how things were going during my haircut. I've been going to Kallie for about a year now. She is fantastic! In general, I give very little direction, and let her decide what would be the best look for me. I have yet to be disappointed. She is also the only stylist I've been to that can make my hair look better than I do. At other salons, I liked the cut, but would have to immediately go home and fix the styling. Kallie has helped me with styling tips/products to do at home, and I'm having fun doing my hair again! However, I still chose her do it for a big charity event recently. I have come here 3 or 4 times now. I am one of those last minute if I have time to get my hair done once every six months I do type of person. Every other time I have been to the salon it has been great. This time unfortunately I didn't experience the same friendliness and experience as I have had before. My stylist wasn't rude per say but very cold. She was short and almost seemed annoyed that I got put on her calendar. She almost was trying to get me to come back and not do the service that day. I rarely make it down the hill from the mountains so when I do I try and get everything into one trip and have it be a treat. I almost walked out but knew I would probably be all grey by the time I made it down again. Also I was celebrating and going on a fancy date and really wanted to feel pretty. The hair turned out fine it looks good but what I pay for is the experience. To spend almost $250 on something I could have a friend do kind of sucks. The part that made me more upset is that I said several times I was going on a date and once the hair was done she just blew it out and was rushing. What really would have been great is if she would have even asked me how I style my hair when I left my hair was poofy and frizzy. I still had to go home and do my hair... lame. There are too many options not to have a great experience when you treat yourself twice a year. read more

I had a very nice experience. My stylist was Sam D. and she was very pleasant and did a great job. I was given a small welcome gift as it was 1st time there. They were able yo squeeze me in on the same day I called which was on a Saturday afternoon. The only complaint was they charged me $45 while they advertised $30 for a wash and blowout. This place is truly as good as it gets when it comes to hair salons. It is always hard to step out and try a new hair dresser, but I am super glad I did. Haylee worked with me and I will be a client of hers for as long as I can. I enjoyed her company, and she did an amazing job making me feel welcome in the salon, not to mention the brilliant hair color. All of the staff in the salon are friendly. it just a laid back environment that i will return to again. The parking is not the best, in the area. The salon is up to-date and has very comfortable chairs to sit in when you are getting your hair wash. FYI: everyone has to work under Rob (the lead stylist) before they can work on their own. So the pick up on his techniques and of coarse he is the on that gives them the approval to work. First visit today at this lovely Aveda salon. Very friendly greeting and a gift bag for new clients. My stylist Jessica has 19 years experience and definitely a master - knows her stuff. Easy to communicate with and grateful she had recommendations. I got partial highlights to help with those sparklies. Am also growing out bangs and her suggestions about how to grow them as well as product made sense. I left feeling fancy and beautiful! Already made my 2nd and 3rd appointments. I happened upon this salon while shopping at Sprouts. I went in to see if they took walk ins and they do! The man at the front desk was really nice and made me feel so welcome. He found a stylist to give me a blow out and style, which I was very happy with. She was really good about looking at my hair, asking questions and giving some great, much needed, advise on what to do. It is a comfortable salon and the stylists all seem so happy. While not cheap, the prices are reasonable. They also have a great selection of Aveda products, which I love. All within walking distance! I will return. read more

A couple of years ago, I followed Laurel from another Aveda salon to Evolution and am so happy she moved. (1) Parking is easily available, (2) the salon is cute/trendy and has a good vibe, and (3) it's conveniently located in the old Elitches district. Everyone is always friendly, but Laurel is a SUPERSTAR! It takes a masterful and creative person to be able to give stellar custom haircuts, and it takes a masterful and creative person to be a stellar colorist. It is very rare to find someone who can custom cut AND custom color. I grew up in a home full of stylists (sister, mother, great-grandmother), so I know what I'm talking about when I say that Laurel is amazing and I love her new(ish) location. read more

I have been going here for a few years but recently my favorite stylists have left and this place went massively downhill. I recently got a highlight and cut and when I booked my appointment I asked a lot of questions about the stylist they were recommending me; especially how they were with highlights. The receptionist that booked me made it seem like she knew the stylist and highly recommended her. When I arrived for my service, I found out it was that stylists' first day working at the salon. I really like this was very bad misrepresentation on Evolutions part and something they should have told me in advance and allowed me to decide if I wanted to go with her. I am also very disappointed that they charged me the same rate as a tenured Evolution stylist. I feel this whole experience was badly misrepresented. When I then called to speak to a manager, I was told someone would call me back to discuss and no has in the last week since I called. Lastly, and more importantly my highlights are not at all what I described to the stylist. VERY disappointed and will never go back. read more

This is the first and only review that I've written on Yelp if that tells you anything about how strongly I wanted to recommend Evolution Salon. I booked an appointment with Robert, and everything about the salon and about Robert was absolutely fantastic. I recently moved to the Denver area and have been searching for a great stylist and place to get my haircut and am so glad that I finally stumbled across Evolution Salon and Robert. When I showed up to get my haircut, I was in a serious haircut rut. Evolution Salon was awesome from the moment I walked in - they are welcoming, friendly, professional, and classy yet you don't at all feel like you're in a place that is so "trendily uptight" if that makes any sense. When I checked in, they handed me a welcome gift bag that they give to first time customers - who does that? That is awesome! And the cut was amazing! Robert is truly natural and gifted when it comes to being able to figure out how to style your hair. He gave me an awesome haircut and the best haircut that I have had in SOOOO long! Also, one of the things that really stood out to me is that in no way at all did I feel like anyone at Evolution Salon was trying to sell me something for the sake of selling me something. Robert suggested some products that might be good but didn't actually try to sell me anything when I walked out of there. I felt like all of his advice and everything that he shared was given for the benefit of allowing me to have a cut, style, and look that I would be happy with and that is it. This is a great place! I cannot say enough about everyone that works there, the salon, and about Robert! Also, when I booked the appointment and when I showed up, all everyone could say was "you are going to love Robert". Most of my life I've cut my own hair or gone to places like Super Cuts, until one day I met Destniee. She invited to me come to the salon and try it out. I love this salon! I always have my cut and color done by Amanda. She's amazing!! While I've never used a different stylist, everyone who works there seems super friendly and loyal to their clients. I've also had a Brazilian blowout done here (by Amanda) and it made my hair feel incredible. I have naturally wavy hair that gets frizzy and the blowout made my hair so manageable and shiny! The work is well worth the money and I love the location and atmosphere of the salon. I read the negative review and I I think everyone is entitled to their opinion but I've never seen anyone in the salon that wasn't happy with their results. This place passes itself off as a trendy salon in a nice neighborhood. Problem is, their horrible! The only thing they have going for them is the nice neighborhood. My wife and several of her friends have all found new salons, not because of the stylist (their talented) but because of the poor customer service. They are unfriendly and make you feel like you are a bother, instead of treating you kind and respectfully. I booked a haircut for myself and my best friend because I wanted to support local like I do with most things...what a mistake! He went the morning before me and said the rudeness and over inflated price was a real turn off. Unfortunately I didn't listen and still went for my cut and couldn't believe how right he was. My stylist was nice enough and fairly talented but the girl at the front desk and her manager were a nightmare! Rude and unfriendly in every way, they really made me feel like they didn't want me or my business at all. Bottom line is our neighborhood is full of nice, friendly families and working class people, and we all certainly deserve a better place than this! read more

I had an appointment with Hallie today, and I was so impressed all around with the whole experience. The salon was modern and clean, and the place had a nice smell. The desk staff was friendly and helpful, and set me up with a timely appointment. I picked Hallie because she was available, but I couldn't be happier with my hair. She's the first stylist I've used who I felt like worked with my hair instead of trying to make me style it a certain way, and it looks great. She really listens to you and understands hair. I would recommend Hallie anytime, and I get the feeling this is the type of salon where you really can't go wrong with anyone - the other folks getting their hair done also looked great. Robert is by far the best for cuts and color. He is incredibly expensive as well. As a result, I do try to stretch my dollar as much as I can, which probably means I don't get a cut/color as often as I should. It's unfortunate, but I guess you get what you pay for. read more

On a quest for a salon to call "my salon" in the neighborhood, I was thrilled to find Evolution after trying other places. Kelsie does a great job on my hair and is very meticulous which I love. The first time I visited, I articulated a few things I wanted in the cut and color, but I also gave her license to do what she thought would look best, and she did & continues to do a great job. My boyfriend also loves my new cut and said its the best style I have ever had. I love that the Salon is open on Sundays just in case I cant make it during the week; and there is always easy parking. read more
