I had my first massage at Evolutions Day Spa in January after dealing with extremely tight shoulders and back muscles that were causing a stabbing pain in my neck. I scheduled a hot stone massage and was fortunate to be paired with Vicki. From the start, Vicki really listened to what was going on with my body. She took the time to understand my specific pain points and tailored the massage accordingly. While still incorporating the hot stones, she added deep tissue work where I needed it most, which made such a big difference. By the end of the session, the tension in my back had significantly eased and my neck pain was relieved. The entire experience felt calming from the moment I walked in. The waiting area has a beautiful water feature, tea available, and such a peaceful, relaxing vibe. You also have the option to use their sauna and showers prior to your appointment, which makes it feel like a true spa experience rather than just a massage. The ambiance in the treatment room was just as soothing. There was an overhead fan that created a soft, natural rainfall sound that made the entire experience even more relaxing. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I was given an inappropriate massage by a specific individual and others I know had the exact same thing happen to them. When I called to speak up and mention that they should just talk to him, I was told to not come back for a facial. When I called to speak to the spa director a few times, they would lie and say she is busy or out of town or that she refuses to talk. Goes to show when you actually speak up for yourself, they penalize you rather than helping the client. I am shocked by such an aweful establishment and such unfair treatment after being a member of facials and giving them so much of my money and time. Horrible experience. read more

I was delighted by my esthetician Kristen at Evolutions, she provided a wonderful facial skin treatment. Truly a relaxing experience and my face has been glowing! I appreciate that Kristen shared her knowledge of which products would work best for my skin and now I use the facial cleanser that she recommended almost every day. I always leave Evolutions happy. Everyone is so nice, from the girls at the desk, who keep everything running smoothly, to the assistants, and the technicians. I've had several people for different things, and have never been disappointed. Today I had Cara Ryan for laser hair removal, and it was going to be my second appointment. Unfortunately I was on antibiotics, and the little form they always have you fill out when you come in on the iPad reminded me of that. Fortunately I read all those things, and they asked the doctor if my anabiotic was going to be an issue. Of course it's one of the ones that's photo sensitive. Needless to say, No Laser today. I ended up having Dysport on my forehead, and not a mark, you'd never know she injected me, she is awesome. I also have a propensity to have my brow on one side droop a bit, and she has treated me a couple times now, with no issues. Last visit she did a full face and neck laser hair removal, as well as a full Brazilian. Between the awesome girl than did my numbing cream (I sadly don't remember her name, sorry awesome girl!), to Cara, I didn't feel much at all, and if you've ever had a Brazilian, you know that there are spots normally where you're jumping! But from Cara to the ladies that gave me little ice packs and Have made my appointments at the front desk, Evolutions is excellent. I've had laser hair removal other places, and had three and four sessions, that were not nearly as good as my single session here. Their laser hair removal machine is extremely strong, I think I'm probably only going to need one more session to be very happy. And on my face, I feel I only needed the one. If you're on the fence about Laser hair removal, or you've even had it before and found it tedious with the amount of sessions you had to do, give them a try, all lasers are not created equal. I have to throw it out here too because she's my girl, but I miss Jess! I feel so grateful that I was able to have her for the time I did when she was there. Cara is the best aesthetics nurse for all your medical spa needs! I'm having laser hair done with her and I couldn't have asked for a better aesthetics nurse! She is professional, courteous and efficient. She goes along with your timeframe to make sure you're ready and prepped for the procedure, making sure that the numbing gel has had enough time to settle in and making sure she does the laser work in steps so as to not overwhelm you. In this way the removal process is less painful. Cara takes the time to explain what she is doing in a way that average lay-citizen can understand, and she explains in steps so info is easier to understand as opposed to giving you everything all at once. I'm so glad I'm getting services done with Cara! I definitely recommend working with her 100%! If you want to work with someone who is smart, beautiful and professional, ask for Cara Ryan! As for the spa itself, it is very clean and well put together, beautiful artwork and modern furniture. All staff are accommodating. They listen to you and your needs. They are willing to work with you and find out the best solutions financially and timewise for you. I do recommend the VIP membership discount program. It seems pricey yes, but if you are invested in a long term treatment like laser hair removal, it is worth it because of the discount. Also, if you use any products like Obagi, Skinceuticals or TiVo etc, those products are sold here, and you get a discount on them as well, so it is also worth it to do the membership. I was only going to commit 4-6 months of the vip membership discount program but I will probably end up just keeping it because of the skincare products they sell. I still have yet to explore the day spa side but I hope to do so in the near future! read more

Please, if you are considering any invasive procedures, avoid this place and heed the advice, everywhere on the web, to instead go to a *board-certified dermatologist*. I went to this spa for 2 sessions of microneedling. I had what I thought was a mild allergic reaction the first time, but was told by the practitioner (a nurse) that dry skin is normal and I simply needed to buy their very expensive moisturizer for the second treatment. After the second treatment, I had what turned out to be a bad allergic reaction. My skin was very swollen for the first few days and then so dry that I basically couldn't make facial expressions or lie on my side at night for fear of creating permanent wrinkles. It was flaking heavily and stung. I was given no information that might allow me to understand what was going on, and there was no follow-up from Evolutions. I finally saw my own (independent) dermatologist, who told me to drop the expensive moisturizer and get on a steroid. It was a very *frightening* experience. While the spa claims that a dermatologist oversees procedures, I never once saw a dermatologist there. I realize now that because of my sensitive skin I should not have had this procedure. Coda, I contacted the spa director and told her this story, so that she could improve operations, only to have her say that my reaction was rare and essentially dismiss me. (How could she know that my reaction is rare if there is no follow-up with clients?) My take-away: For invasive work, you will be better off with a real dermatologist who can assess you for suitability, prepare you for possible side effects, and assess outcomes as needed. I went to this spa for the first time to receive Botox treatment, which I have had several times over the years. I got the same number of units that I always get. While the nurse was doing the injections I noticed that I didn't feel the needle pinch nearly as much as I usually do. Well, lo and behold, I never got any results! None. At all! I have had the same number of units of Botox at least a dozen times from several other places and I have ALWAYS had good results. When I went back in after 2.5 weeks to show the nurse that it didn't work she just smiled and said, "oh, that's a bummer. Would you like to buy more?" Umm, no, obviously I'm not going to throw more of my money at you for a treatment that didn't even work the first time. She could see for herself that I didn't get any results, there's no way of faking that. She did not seem concerned or at all phased by the fact that she did not effectively provide the treatment I had paid her for, and she didn't even apologize. She basically just blew me off and ushered me out the door telling me to have a good day. The fact that they wouldn't even offer to fix their mistake was infuriating. Sadly I don't remember the nurses name. I only went to try this place out because they're close to my house. I definitely won't be returning. For any medical spa treatment it seems like this place is a crapshoot. You may get lucky, but you'll have much more certainty (and potentially far fewer wasted dollars) by just going to one of the plastic surgeons in town where the nurses are far more skillful...at least than the nurse I had. read more

I love this place. They do everything from cosmetic procedures to massages. It is very professional, clean and pretty. Kara Georgiadis is my girl. She is honest, conservative and kind. I trust her implicitly. She never does anything without talking to me about it first. I always know that I'm going to be happy with the outcome because she is so thorough and meticulous. Upon arrival, I was greeted with an offer of Lemon-infused water, which was wonderful bc I walked 1.5 miles to stroll through Downtown and check out the film festival. The entire spa is delectably elegant, and It was fun sampling mineral make-up at the counter. As women we apply cosmetics to our faces daily, so it should be organic, free of sulfates. Anyway, I appreciated the selection of blush. The devil is in the details. My mother and I had made appointments to get Dysport for our massater/jaw muscles as we both suffer from TMJ. The day of our appointment came, we went to check in and they had mixed up our appointment. They ended up booking us with a nurse who had never done treatments on this area before. So we ended up having to reschedule - they offered us a discount if we wanted to stick with the same nurse but essentially we'd be her guinea pigs, with the supervision of a doctor. So, we came back again for our rescheduled appointment. The procedure itself... was long and more painful than I had expected. I was listening to the doctor explain what she had to do, and he told her to tap the bone, and once she felt that resistance to slowly pull back and administer the Dysport. She was doing it so slow I felt every bit of the injection. Needle, hitting bone, muscle, it was not pleasant. I am reviewing now because I went to a different clinic in LA where my experience was completely different. It was so quick and virtually painless. I had nothing to compare it to before and now I fully understand just how bad my first experience was. read more

I love Nancy! I see her for fillers and Botox and she is so talented, confident, calm and reassuring. I'm a bit weary of the pain but she is always patient with me, answers all my questions and makes me feel like I'm in good hands. And I couldn't be happier with the results. I went to evolutions for dermal fillers last November. During my consult I explained what I wanted (jaw, chin and lip fillers) and was talked into getting a "mid face lift" two syringes of Juvéderm in each cheek. I'm 24 and this is way more than I needed. The filler was placed FAR too low and completely squared out my face. I also received restalyn in my naso- labial folds and under my eyes. In both areas the filler has bunched and is visible when I make facial expressions. The worst part was my lips. Oh my god, what they did to my lips. Lumpy, uneven filler in every part. I had to go back and have a portion dissolved (which can happen sometimes- not completely unheard of) but the way it was dissolved left my lips uneven. At this point I gave up in trying to have them fix it. I had to wait out until the lumps and bumps naturally dissolved since I didn't want to go through having the entire syringe dissolved which is VERY painful. I did not realize the extent of how bad it was until I saw another local plastic surgeon and saw the work they were able to do with just two CCs of appropriately placed filler. It's cost me a fortune to fix what the fillers I got at evolutions did, on top of the thousands I already spent at this place. I feel they push you to buy more than you need without having your best interests and results in mind. If your thinking about going here for fillers, look elsewhere in Santa Barbara. read more

I was shocked they were actually able to get me in. The front desk staff was welcoming and gave me a tour of the facilities since it was my first time. The locker room was extremely clean and nicely decorated. Their robes are super soft and comfortable. There is a nice tea lounge where you can relax while you wait for your service to begin. Heidi was my aesthetician and I cannot recommend her enough. I explained that I would like to start routine facials in preparation for my wedding. She asked about my skin struggles/goals and then put together a game plan with me for my skins specific needs. She took her time and explained all the benefits of the products she used. She has great energy and made me feel so relaxed. All of the products contained high quality ingredients. I especially loved the aromatherapy included in the service. I debated leaving a review or not but I feel like people should be warned. I went in for a facial and they applied a "pumpkin enzyme" and ended up giving me burns all over my face. When asked how "spicy" it was feeling, I said an 8 or 9, but the lady just turned the fan on instead of removing it. I ended up red and peeling with painful sores all over my face for days. They tried to help it with some LED treatments but I still have marks where the sores were and the doctor says "well time will heal it." I cancelled my membership. Beware read more

I called the office to inquire about their laser treatments for both face and hair removal. The person who took my call was very pleasant and did her best to answer my questions. Because my questions were outside her scope of expertise, she invited me in for a free 30 minute consultation with one of the Dermatologists. I scheduled the consult 4 weeks in advance. I asked the phone receptionist to let the Dermatologist know my list of questions so that they could research and be prepared to answer when I got there. My biggest question was how is their laser machine different from the machine I had previously received treatments on. My consult was scheduled for 11:15am. I arrived early at 11:05am, completed my intake paperwork, and handed it back to the receptionist at 11:11am. I was called back to the consult room by the Dermatologist at 11:25am (even though I arrived early, I initially was not bothered by the 10 minute wait since that seems pretty standard in any office). Right away I noticed the treatment table/bed was dirty with black fuzz all over it. The person I consulted with was not prepared with my questions and did not do any research about how their laser machine differed from other machines I have used. She did take a thorough medical history assessment and for some of my questions had reassuring, knowledgeable responses. However, when I tried to explain my concerns about sensitive skin and let her know what has/has not worked for me in the past she kept interrupting me and talking over me. We completed my face laser questions and then at 11:43am I started asking about the hair removal procedures. She told me that if I had any more questions, I would have to schedule another consult for a different time as she had run out of time. I am very disappointed that I was promised a 30 minute consult and was cut off at only 18 minutes. I also learned that their laser machine is older and less efficient than the one I have used previously. The front desk told me that the laser technicians that are currently practicing there had only been operating the laser machines in their office for 1.5 years so it sounds as if they have a high turnover rate with their staff. The info that I was given left me feeling like the technicians were not very skilled and that cleanliness is an issue. In Santa Barbara, there is a plethora of laser clinics to choose from, all in the same price range, so why would I give my business to a provider who is rude, not clean, and operates inferior equipment. read more
