We used B&D construction for two exterior projects. One was replacing the concrete slab in front of our house 2 years ago and the second one was to dig out around the foundation in the back of our house to access a drainage pipe for repair, then waterproof, fill and resurface. The second job was last week. In both cases, B&D provided a competitive bid. Contractor Shah is responsive by phone or text. Crew was professional and tidy.. I was especially happy at how thoroughly they cleaned up in the backyard. Obviously not a lot of time has passed and these are relatively small jobs, so this review is based on short term experience. But based on my recent experience I will definitely ask B&D to bid again when I need concrete / brick / masonry work. read more

The B&D Team is very competent and good at what they do. They provide an accurate estimate of the work needed. Once hired they go to work and do not stop until the job is complete with minimum to no supervision. The level of detail is as expected or better, which says a lot in the construction industry. It's difficult to find a good contractor that does good work, is detail oriented and is reasonably priced! Just to make it clear: This review is for the CUSTOMER SERVICE I received and not actual work I requested a quote for a porch awning and back deck, I was asked for my address and phone number which I provided. And then, crickets. I was not contacted to schedule a meeting time nor called to even start the process of meeting. I wait a few days then write back to this company (through yelp messages btw) asking if they were interested to take a look at the project, in which I got a "yes" response.... that was it. No follow up or calls or anything. I shouldn't have to chase you to give me a quote or come take a look at the project. Very unprofessional and probably telling to the kind of experience one would receive during the project. They might be a decent company when they work but how would I know? I am please to write a review about our most recent experience with B&D Construction for masonry work done on a 4 story residential brownstone building in Carroll Gardens. We have used B&D in the past for refacing the brownstone staircase landing leading up to the main entrance. It has been nearly a decade and the work has withheld several seasons of hot and brutal cold temperatures and still intact and pristine as the first day. We hired them again this summer to do brick refacing on the back wall of the building due to water seeping into the apartments from the deteriorating brick mortar. After bidding the project out, we opted again for B&D who provided us with options on how to proceed and we opted for full re-facing vs. brickpointing. Their work was done in a timely and professional manner. The crew couldn't have been more courteous and conscientious to detail. Our tenants anticipated there'd be some disturbance early morning and weekends but they were pleased to report that the crew worked tirelessly and silently throughout the weeks onsite and demonstrated respect during their brief encounters with them. They'd arrive promptly and some evenings continued to work past dusk to finish applying each layer of the process allowing interval days to dry before applying the next layer until the final waterproof sealant coat was applied. The job also involved scraping, rustproofing and painting the fire escape and drainpipes from top to bottom. Once finished, the cleanup was meticulous and immaculate right down to washing all the windows before departing. B&D is a family-run business and the transition from founder to successor appears to be seamless. I am partial to supporting and maintaining a relationship with a tried/true contractor. B&D has demonstrated the same quality of work from our first project to the current one. Before the project began, I requested/checked references provided. I also spotted their ongoing work throughout the neighborhood so I made it a point to privately embark on my own personal inspection on my way to work in the mornings. I'm pleased to see their business is thriving and in healthy competition with other restoration/renovation. I have already determined that I will be using B&D Construction for my next project in Spring 2020 and would be happy to offer a more detailed recommendation and referral if/when needed. read more

I asked for a quote for my stairs outside. I wanted a quote in how much it would cost to repair as well as restore my stairs. The worker that came over to look at my steps was very professional. The owner of the company, Shah, is a different story. He told me it wouldn't be worth sending his guys over to repair my steps, and it would be a waste of money to do so. He asked for my email address so that he could send me an estimate on how much it would cost to restore my steps. It's been over a week now and I STILL haven't gotten a response from him. read more

My home is in Crown Heights - one-family attached brick. Previous owner had painted the brick - yuck! - but that was years ago, and the house needed to be re-pointed. One owner, Ali, came to give a quote. He examined the outside, the room that had water damage inside, and the roof. He spoke to me about what the job would entail, time frame, etc. I asked about license and insurance. He immediately contacted his office and had them send a photo of proof of license and insurance. Work began the next week. The men showed up, worked neatly and did a thorough job of the pointing. I decided not to repaint after the pointing - the pointing was so neat and nice, it didn't need it. They began work after I signed the contract, but before I had even had a chance to give them the deposit.
