They were knowledgeable about their work and were up front with us about all options we had available and what exactly it would entail. We ended up hiring them for the concrete apron that stretched across our three-car garage driveway and flushed with our entryway sidewalk. It was a nice addition that they re-poured the last piece of sidewalk next to the apron and added a simple set of concrete steps inside of our garage. All of this was without any extra unknown fees/costs. The steps inside of our garage aren't anything fancy, but we didn't need anything fancy so no issues there! The concrete apron flushed nicely with our older asphalt driveway, especially since it isn't exactly flat all the way across. As long as the job holds up, I will definitely hire them again for future projects.

For a year he made excuses and kept dragging us along on why he couldn't come out to finish the job, do it correctly, pass the inspection, etc. Blaming everyone else for his mistakes. Even telling the city inspector she doesn't know what she's talking about and was so incredibly unprofessional. We ended up taking him to court and winning. We knew we'd never see a dime from him so we had to go through the place he was bonded with and got the payout that way. We had so many inspections after the work he did and all three different companies said our house could have went up in flames. He didn't do one thing right and actually caused more work for the next person. Please if you go with him make sure he is even still bonded. Call Westfield and make sure they didn't cancel him because the insurers I spoke to said they would possibly do that since they had to pay us and he wouldn't get back to them. Please also if you go with him make sure to get a real company to come out and check his work. I am not a spiteful person and hate writing bad reviews. I really had to think about putting this up but if it means preventing another person or family from going through this, I think it's worth it. We were very and I mean very patient, understanding, and sympathetic to every single family problem and other excuse you had (and trust me there was always one in play) as to why this job could not get done from the end of June to December. The clay flue tiles needed to be knocked out and a different insulation was required because there were cracks in the clay flue tiles. You mortared our flue open in the middle of winter and we lost all our heat downstairs. All the mortar kept crumbling down the chimney and you made another excuse how your machine was broken and you were going to get a mortar gun to make it easier. We had other companies come out and said you forced an unfit liner down and damaged it doing so. This is just a small list of everything that went wrong. You were told multiple times what needed to be done from the inspector and not only argued with her but us the customers trying to belittle and make everyone else look bad and stupid. Really showing your anger problems. I have all of the texts since day one and the day of court you even tried to get out of that.

As agreed before work started, he would charge a hourly wage of $70 because the job was new to him and to bid the job was nearly impossible. We felt that was a premium hourly wage but the job was small and we agreed to it. I kept track of the hours myself and we have a driveway camera that he didn't know about that documented his time here also. When we got the bill the hours he had under "labor" were inflated. I tried to give him a graceful way out with an email so he had time to think about it and I also suggested that it was just a honest mistake. My thinking was give a person a way out to save face. His office manager called me and told me that one hour was his math mistake but the other hours were "drive time." I balked at that, I told her he had not mentioned anything about "drive time." That none of the other subcontractors on this project had charged drive time and they all drove a lot farther. I said I was not happy with that and did not agree with "drive time." especially since he never mentioned it. I told her to talk to Brett and send me a new invoice. He called several days later, his explanation was that it was Not "drive time" it was time he spent loading his truck the night before, (not much was needed for this job) he went on and on about all the things he had to do that would have pertained to my job prior to arriving to my house. He stated many petty things, way to many to mention but some were "thinking about it" and his wear and tear on his truck, his drive time again and after what seemed like an eternity he brought up his insurance. I was at work and had to stop him because I was sure he was going to bring up his electric bill and having to shower in the morning & I just didn't have anymore time to listen to him ramble on and on. I told him that I had listened to him enough and that everyone and anyone who has a job does what he is talking about getting ready for work. That he had not mentioned any of these add on's before the verbal agreement was made and I had taken him on his word. My opinion on this is that he got caught inflating his hours and he had to come up with something, how ever stupid that may be. He had ample opportunities to bow out gracefully and he chose not to. So I paid a little over $100 than I was suppose to. He pointed out that that was a small amount. My thinking is, if it was so small and I had more ground to stand on than he did, why he didn't suck it up instead of me. He sent me a final invoice after our phone discussion which I closed with, "this is crap and I am not happy" "you do what you think is right and send me another invoice." He could have at the very least, met me half way and I wouldn't be writing this. Nope, he sent the invoice with the bogus hours still on it. He had 3 opportunities to make this right. We would not use him again or would we recommend him to anyone else. I am old fashion enough to believe that a Deal is a Deal and A MAN IS ONLY AS GOOD AS HIS WORD. This man doesn't seem to believe in either.
