We had lined up one of those PODS, and when the whole move was really going south, Carlos & his gentlemen were helpful, professional, and flexible. They were the one bright spot in the move. For the love of God... I have no idea where to even begin. I am so mad at myself, for not taking any photos of how well these boys literally wrapped up with blankets every single piece of furniture and items that I asked them to move. They came prepared focused and work their tails off... And they were professional, courteous and fast. Hands-down, this was the best money I have spent on anything, in quite a long time! No lie. We were scheduled to move today, but they never contacted me again. A man came out and photographed all the rooms to be moved. He said he'd get back to me. He never did. And the company never returns my calls or emails. They just stopped communicating. So, no movers today. I'll look somewhere else, but it cost me to have to wait this long then have to find movers again. I won't recommend Exceptional Moving to anyone, of course. read more

I had received several great reviews of Exceptional Moving, so hired them with confidence. I had planned to be present, but had to be away for part of the loading process. Due to circumstances, I did have quite a few things that hadn't been boxed and secured by me, and I acknowledge that. However--I had rented a dozen moving blankets from Penske Trucks and pointed them out to the crew. I wanted my oak furniture and my REI bicycle to be protected. The whole process of carrying out this move (from long distance, till I flew down to Santa Fe) was stressful and distracting. I didn't realize that the blankets hadn't been used until after the crew had left. When I called Carlos to express my dismay, I accepted responsibility for not being there to supervise every minute. But as "professionals", I expected them to realize that furniture needs to be protected and that's why the blankets were there. Today I unloaded the truck in WA. I was horrified. One piece of furniture had a bottom trim ripped off (luckily, we found it on the floor of the truck). Several pieces had gouges and multiple scratches, which could have been avoided with the blankets. There were footprints on at least one of my pine shelf pieces. One of my refinished Mission oak rockers with faux suede cushion had things piled on it. Framed art work with my own bubble wrap was not reinforced so that the wrap would not slip off. My bicycle had large areas of paint scratched, the after-market special seat was gouged, and a Disney character bell that had been on the handlebars was gone. My professional-quality inversion table is jammed open and one of the plastic "foot" pieces that protects the base was broken off and I found it in a box. I felt like I was watching the excavation after a natural disaster. Tomorrow I will begin more intensive inspection and will take photos. I hope that dirt can be cleaned and scratches blended in with tung oil. There is no way that my belongings could have been moved into a new residence and set up. They are in storage here while I determine how to deal with them. In the past, I have hired friends or sons of friends and paid them for their time. I consider the cost of Exceptional Moving to be a waste of good money and their "work" to be a source of more expense and stress to me. A partial or full refund would seem appropriate, but the damage goes beyond that amount. read more

Complete Waste of Money: This company was recommended to me by a close friend of mine who used them about a year ago to move a 3 bedroom 1800 sqft home. Having a very similar home, I decided to use them for a move in February of 2019. The move was literally 8 minutes away. What a mistake! I made my reservations online and then called them to confirm. Carlos the owner answered the phone and confirmed my booking, verified the size of the truck and crew I had requested, and gave me tons of assurances and guarantees for my up coming move. This is where the good part ends. On the day of my move the two guys showed up and I walked them through what had to be done: Just the large items, no packing needed. My friend who recommended them was there to help me supervise and about an hour into it, she pulled me aside and said "These guys are moving really slow. The crew I got moved me in 2 hours." I started paying attention and realized that the two would come into the house, pick something up and sounder over to the truck and disappear for 5-10 minutes. I got curious and after one of their leisurely trips back to the truck I quietly went out where I could see the in the truck. They were both on their phones and gabbing. When they saw me, they both straightened up and hurried back into the house. When I met them on their return trip, I asked "How is it going?" and got "Good, there's a lot of things and the snow is slowing us down." in this way, they stretched a two hour move to 6 hours and 15 minutes. The icing on the cake was when they were unable to push my tool cabinet up their ramp and told me they would have to come back the next day with the truck that had the lift but I'd have to pay $30 extra for that. I kept biting my lip because I needed my stuff moved that day. Mind you, the tool cabinet that was too heavy for them had been moved by two other moving companies on previous moves without a problem. Then there was the delivery debacle. Every single piece of wood furniture arrived with new dents and scrapes, the ceramic pot for a $250 silk plant was smashed, the plasma TV's base was bent to the point one corner was almost touching tv stand, the corner of the tv stand was cracked, the side of a filing cabinet had a large dent / bend in it and on and on. The next day I had to meet them again at the old house. The tool cabinet got loaded and delivered and one of the three guys introduced himself as Carlos, the owner. I pointed out the variety of problems and he had a guy to fix this, and he could get a part for that, and no problem it would all be taken care of very quickly. Oh and when I pointed out the silk plant, he says "Well, moving your tool cabinet was going to cost you $60 but I'll do it for free in exchange for the broken pot". Wait! it went from $30 to $60, a 100% increase in 12 hours? But I agreed to the exchange just so I could get on with my life. You guessed it. Carlos was lying with all his promises about getting everything fixed. I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks. Finally I called him. He didn't even remember the promises he had made. When I finally cornered him in his lies, he said the fix it guy had suddenly moved back to Mexico and the TV part couldn't be found on eBay and he wasn't about to buy me a new TV. Then he offered to take the items to get them fixed which I'm sure I would have never seen again. I stopped him and I said "I will be ending this conversation and I'd like for you to think about this and figure out what you want to do. But remember that in this day and age, the consumer has great power with the reviews they can leave about your services." Then I terminated the call while he was still trying to cut me off. In a few minutes, he called which I let it go to voice mail. He left a ranting and raving message full of excuses and blaming me for everything which ended with "Please call me back and tell me what you want to do." Which I did and asked for refund for 2 of the 6 hours I was charged still willing to pay twice what it should have cost. Guess what? Never heard back. Don't hire them. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience working with Exceptional Moving. We hired them for both packing and to load our Pod. While Exceptional Moving packed every little piece of junk in the rooms they packed with time and cost-intensive care (and when I say "junk" I mean things like a dirty kitchen sponge and a ball of used tinfoil), charging us not just for time but for every box and every piece of packing paper, they loaded our antique furniture into the Pod with no protection whatsoever. Our furniture is all scratched and chipped but at least our kitchen sponge was packed safely. We felt significantly over-charged for very disappointing service. read more

Stay away! First they forgot my appointment even in spite of sending a confirmation email. They couldn't get my couch through the door and actually said "This isn't really our thing." They finally threw it over the second floor balcony. They told me they could not pick up the cat trees because they are both allergic. They asked if I could do it. I don't care if you're allergic, do your job. They did so much damage to the door, wall, and stairwell that it was ridiculous. I took photos so the apartment complex could not charge me for it. Granted, they were extremely nice. I can say that. But stay away! read more

I booked this company last month based on the great reviews they got. They called me one day before my expected move and left a voicemail that they had to cancel for problems with their truck. I tried to call back but it went to voicemail. They did not even give me an option of doing the move the day after i was supposed to move. I felt this was super unprofessional and so i would not recommend them to anybody.
