First time on the architecture boat tour on the recommendation of a bunch of friends who had…read morealready taken the tour in the past. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised. The words "architecture" and "boat tour" don't immediately spell a fun time in my mind. But this tour is 1) a pleasant way to see the center of Chicago from the water, 2) actually interestingly informational, as the tour guides are extremely on top of their game, 3) much more dense that you expect (these guys are talking non-stop), and 4) surprisingly good views, especially when you get all the way out into the edge of the harbor! Finding the place was a bit roundabout, but once we got there, staff were super friendly, and it was easy to get on the boat and off to our next stop afterwards. Parking suggestions on the site are solid too. I'm not sure whether I'd do it again, but I'd definitely recommend it as a must-do stop on any visit!

Even with the clouds rolling in & out and blocking a lot of the views it was still interesting and our awesome guide, Bobby, was knowledgeable, funny, and kept it interesting and flowing for adults and kids. The tour starts on the river heading towards Lake Michigan. The ride into the lock was a little lengthy as we had to wait for them to fill it with boats first. Once we made it onto Lake Michigan it was very chilly, but I'd rather be freezing than sweating like crazy on a hot humid day. We were on a smaller boat which was nice. - upper deck: Seats long the outside and chairs in the middle. Only wish they had cushions. - lower deck: had some small seating outside and standing bar tables - lower deck: indoor restrooms and bar area - snacks, drinks available for purchase If rain is in the forecast bring paper towels to clean off your seats. I also saw some people with Wendella rain ponchos, but not sure where to get them? Really fun and beautiful way to see the city! Highly recommend!

Our driver was patient the entire time when some of the groups got a bit rowdy and overall was a great guide. Things were mostly on time (our initial pickup was a little late) and everything went seamlessly from winery to winery without any issues. They picked fantastic wine spots to visit and we were all very impressed with the entire experience. I booked this for my friend as part of her bachelorette party and it was perfect for that! There was also another small group of girls for a birthday and a few couples there, so really it's for anyone. I can confidently recommend the tour with Windy City Tour Company to visit lower Michigan wineries! It's the best way to get picked up in downtown Chicago, be driven from place to place in Michigan, then get driven back home. Don't drink and drive, be responsible and use Windy City Tour Company!

AVOID!!! I booked this just a couple of days ago and unexpectedly had to change plans. But…read moreapparently they have the worst cancellation policy and has to be 22 days before to get a full refund. They kept pushing back saying I will have the credit waiting for me for when I book again but I didn't know when that would be and just wanted a refund. I then hear nothing and ask for the status. They informed me then I was now 19 days away and they have to charge me 10% fee for not being within 22 days as that is their policy even though I had booked the trip only 3 days before. Any company this rude and that makes you go through this many hoops just to cancel a reservation is not someone I ever want to do support! They need to improve their customer service and I certainly will NEVER book with them in the future!!!

First, it says when booking that it will be two hours. The start time is 8:15. So I told my…read morebabysitter an end time based off of that. The day of the tour we get a text saying it will be three hours. That meant we had to scramble to see if our babysitter could stay at least an hour longer. Second, they put a green light on each kayak on each so it can be seen at night on the river (we did the fireworks tour). I am not exaggerating when I say half of the kayaks on the tour lights were out on the way to the fireworks. That made me feel unsafe and anxious. It also made it more difficult to figure out who our tour guides were because at least two tour guides' lights went out as well. Third, they directed us to "park" (not sure how else to put it) for the fireworks in a spot that the other kayak tour groups seemed to very clearly know was to be avoided because a giant boat was going to dock there. This resulted in our group being yelled at by another kayaking group that we should leave for our own safety because a boat was going to dock there. Then the boat was descending upon us and we had to play kayak-frogger across the river in a mad dash at the last minute while the giant boat honked and played sirens because we were in its way. Again, felt very unsafe. For a person looking for a a casual, fun kayaking experience, this whole thing was too stressful. Would not recommend. Other kayaking places we saw on the water seemed more organized and safety-conscious.
