Dirty Dale's exceeded our expectations. While driving home from Alabama to Illinois with our three…read moreyellow labs, our 6.0L Ford Excursion Diesel died while we were going 70mph on I65. We coasted off to an exit and managed to get into a truck stop where we spent the night. Managed to get it started again but it barely ran and was spewing exhaust. I searched google and Facebook for local diesel shops and landed on Dale's place. I sent a frantic message at 1am as they were closed and to my surprise I had a reply before 6am! Dale himself was on the phone with my husband before the start of their business hours asking what was going on with the truck. We asked for a tow recommendation and got there right as they opened. The shop wasted no time and Dale's guess was correct - we had a bad injector that they diagnosed and replaced quickly, including replacing the seals on the other injectors to prevent another failure. The price was more than fair and everyone was so friendly. Even our old dog was comfortable and happy in the lobby while we waited. As a wheelchair using driver, it's not particularly quick or easy to identify an appropriate vehicle that will meet my needs. I don't drive a van. I typically have driven a 2-door automatic, however, it has to have enough room between the driver's seat and the door frame that I can put my wheelchair, when folded, in the backseat. When I was younger, these were easy to find. These days? Not so much. I first called Ed Martin Honda as I was curious about a used Honda Civic. I'd had a Civic before, but cars change over the years and I wanted to make sure. I was transferred multiple times trying to find basic answers about the vehicle. At one point, I simply asked if they could measure the space I needed to know about as I'd been able to determine how much room I needed. It was really basic customer service, and they just wouldn't do it. Majorly dropped ball. Somewhat on the flip side, I did an in-person visit and the sales rep definitely went out of the way to let me try a couple of the vehicles. I was definitely impressed, and there was a definite effort to try to think of vehicles that would actually work. That was good customer service, though we didn't actually find a vehicle. For the record, I ended up buying a Honda. If that original associate had been more helpful who knows what could have happened? I learned that both the Civic and the Accord would work (coupe versions, so slightly older). I ended up with an Accord that I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive. This was a solid mid-range experience, though somewhat disappointing given I've generally heard great things about Martin's customer service. Phone call? Disappointing. In-person? Much better. Overall, I'd still probably return for future needs.
