We knew we wanted to hike and surf, but had no clue as to where to go or how to even go about finding these so called hidden spots. We were referred to Jeffrey from a friend and right away he was so nice and friendly. He asked some great detailed questions to get to know us and find out exactly what we had in mind. The first day Jeffrey took us surfing and taught us how to "read" the ocean and now we know how the waves work and the physics behind the waves. Rather than just pushing us into the waves so we could try to stand up/fall down/paddle out and try it all over again, Jeffrey really taught us the fundamentals of surfing so we knew what we were trying to do. It was really amazing to learn from such a veteran surfer with so much experience. My husband was able to stand up and took to it immediately, I needed a little extra help. We also went snorkeling and learned about all the native fish, coral, and even saw an eel. We met him early in the morning the next day at a local coffee shop - which we never would have found without him - and the food was amazing (Kalaheo Coffee Co.) and immediately we knew it was a great decision for Jeffrey to be our tour guide. He drove us in his vehicle up the mountain and we stopped at several different spots to see some amazing views of the island and the canyons and then we parked and began our hike. The hike was the perfect level for us to enjoy but be challenged. Jeffrey knew the name and history of every tree and flower and was soo knowledgeable. Additionally, Jeffrey imparted some great words of wisdom regarding life and helped us to really learn a lot about ourselves and surpassing the limits we had set for ourselves. Who knew we were not only going to see these great sights, but get a little "life coaching" as well! Jeffrey took us to so many great sites. We spent another day with him and his wife Hezar and couldn't believe the gorgeous places they took us in Kokee. We ate fresh baby strawberries and saw some beautiful views. We were both soo happy with our experience with Jeffrey. He really listened to us to design a completely custom experience tailored exactly to our needs and taught us so much about nature, hiking, the island of Kaua'i and so much more. Additionally, he was able to recommend some great secret beaches, restaurants, and some great stores. He has been living on the island for a long time and really knows all the great spots. If you are ever in Kaua'i - you must take a tour with him!

She moved to Kauai when I was 13, and let me tell you that dancing with her was one of the most marvelous and memorable things about my teenage years. She puts soul into her teaching and pushes students to be their best, which is something I sometimes don't see in ballet schools in bigger cities. After leaving Kauai, I found myself drawing on what I'd learned from Jennifer all throughout my classes at Ballet Hawaii, Iolani, and while studying for my BA in dance in LA. A recent visit to Hanapepe brought us to this children's theatre. My daughter was so excited about…read morethe rooster outside that we needed a picture. We walked in to admire the unique items inside that help support the theatre. We were welcomed and greeted to visit the garden in the back which had a small koi pond and theatre stage with seating. We learned about a former senator of Hawaii, Spark Matsunaga who was native to Kauai and also served as a war veteran. A beautiful statue of him and his grand daughter is located in the garden. There are several items for purchase to help support the efforts of the children's theater and ongoing cultural and Hawaiian heritage. There was also a donation box at the door so please help support the local theatre for children.

The Annual Kauai County Farm Bureau fair is back in town! It runs on the last weekend in August…read moreevery year (25th thru 28th)Thursday thru Sunday. The KCFB puts the fair on annually and the proceeds help to fund the organization's many important projects and scholarships throughout the year. The theme for this year is "Keep Growing and Farm On". There's lots to do!: Rides are provided by E.K Fernandez. They've got all the classics: Ferris Wheel, Ring of Fire, The Zipper, and lots of stuff for the little keiki as well. Food booths are put on by all sorts of Kauai organizations varying from different clubs to pop warner football teams. There's a huge variety of food as some vendors have become semi-famous for the food they put out every year. There's all kinds of live entertainment throughout the fair grounds. Last night there was a hypnotist and a magician. Music headliners are usually on Friday and Saturday nights, I think. The farm bureau tent is worth the trip on its own. There's tables and tables of locally produced fruits and vegetables on display for judging and awards. I especially like that because what's farming on Kauai without a little friendly competition? 5 Stars simply because the Farm Bureau works really hard to make this happen every year, and of course... Because it's the ONLY show in town.
