Deep down I knew this was probably a result of my actions and/or weaknesses, and overall I knew I loved and respected the staff and environment of the place, however as the years went on I was tempted to be bitter (especially after feeling so well received in future public schools). Fast forwarding a decade had brought me more experiences and perspective, allowing me to more thoroughly appreciate what Northshore was doing in my life at the time. They held a high standard in a way that balanced love and firmness. I think we were both growing and learning at that time, and I cannot deny that I was shown love, guidance, an example of excellence, etc. Super important things to a growing kid. Fast forward another decade, I was able to return to Northshore and visit with my old principal and some of the teachers I had back then. An awesome experience to see them as fellow adults, see their personal/professional growth and the success of their academics, school campus, etc. Even got to have a chat with one of my childhood heroes Marc Marion. Marc: well done, good and faithful servant! Coming full circle, I now have a kindergartener at Northshore. We weighed many options during our research, and we felt the overall benefits far outweighed the sacrifices. Almost a year into school, I can confidently say we made the right decision. Every school and every person has issues, quirks, etc., yet the level of excellence in all areas has surpassed our expectations. I could list all the positives I've seen, but I think Northshore does a well enough job of marketing themselves, so I'll leave it at this: I couldn't ask for a better place to entrust a significant portion of my son's daily mental/physical/spiritual growth. I swam at the Kamiak High School pool as part of Shorewood High School Girl's Swim & Dive…read more(2006-2009). I loved coming to this school for swim meets because I loved the pool so much. The Kamiak Swim Team was formidable competition and I enjoyed getting all spirited up and coming here to race. The pool has built in bleachers (cement) that we could sit at if there weren't many spectators for a given meet. Locker rooms were easy to access and large with two bathroom stall areas. A small pool was available on the other side of the bulkhead of the competition lanes to warm-up and cool-down in. The pool deck was barely above the pool water level and had a grate to cycle overflow water. When there were a bunch of people in the pool for warm-up or the like the water level of the pool would get rather close to the pool deck or overflow meaning very shallow standing water near the pool's edge. I loved this pool deck height and design relative to pool water level. This is primarily because I had an asthma attack while swimming here and had to cross a lane line and pull myself out of the water before I lost all strength in my arms and legs. Not sure I would have had the same outcome if the pool had been designed like others to have several inches to a foot or more of vertical cement/pool deck to pull myself up and out over. There is zero glamor in not being able to finish a race. I am so grateful I had my asthma attack here, at a pool well designed so that I could get out of the water in time. I'd guess that's not what the pool designers had in mind for a low lying pool deck, but a definite perk for me swimming here: knowing that I could pull myself out of the water in time if I had an asthma attack while swimming. An all around beautiful and well designed pool. The rest of the campus that I saw the times I came to swim here were beautiful as well.

This school for sure gave me depression, and some of the teachers would just make up lies to get me…read morein trouble then proceed to say "we want what's best for and and for you to have the best learning environment" right after saying this they forced me to not bring a backpack to school because they assumed I was doing drugs, but I wasn't doing any drugs, and when I gave them proof with a drug test it didn't change my punishment making it a lot harder to learn and bring homework to school. This school sucks more then I suck at Spanish class!

If I could give a zero star rating, I would. Was bullied for being transgender. Administrators did…read morenothing to my bullies and ended up targeting and suspending me. When we had a meeting they cited me being transgender and depressed as reasons that may "make me harm my peers". I never returned the violence, I would endlessly tell the adults around me. They would promise things would change, that I deserve respect, but it was all false promises. The fact is that I was always compliant with rules, I had good grades, I was quiet and shy. I never had a history of violence, I never did as I went through this school and graduated later on. Many of my teachers saw me as a bright student. I was a student in 2015-2016. I am 21 now. The trauma of the bullying and assaults had changed me as a person as a teen and young adult. This school also had a football coach as a well known Proud Boy (a racist organization, they are known to gather at a bar in Lake Stevens)

The Academic Resource Center means that a struggling student has all the support they need to get to the next level. This is a highly competitive school with a reputation for academic excellence, but the students are kind and supportive of each other. We have 3 graduates and one current student at AMHS. Montessori School of Snohomish County Review (MSCC). After the Fall of 2022, it has been more like…read morea hostile takeover in comparison to the well-run Montessori School that we had been enrolled in for almost three years prior.   These are just a few documented situations I have seen in the past 18 months that have made me un-enroll and leave these reviews and reports to various groups.   1 Teacher turnover. There has been a concerning amount of teacher turnover, teachers who have been teaching for multiple years, had continued education and training in the Montessori world. They valued the education and structure they were giving and teaching to children. They left for lack of organization, and violations of children's safety (medicine mix-ups, observations of students being grabbed, put in restraint time outs, children being cut down for what they wore or were given to eat from home. False situations are being documented targeting children they don't want to work with anymore). They left because of not being paid correctly, not having the correct ratios or ages in the classroom, not being given adequate breaks, and being threatened by office employees that listen to conversations from the cameras throughout the buildings. These teachers are now being replaced with "walk-in applications" teachers with no experience. There has been no confirmation that background checks are even being done.   2 Communication on school closings, and fees. One minute they are a school and go according to the Everett Public School calendar for days off/snow days. One minute they are a care facility and want to do days off for conferences for two- and three-year-olds. They seem to change the way they run things based on what is convenient for them. There is no rhyme or reason. As a parent, you are just at the mercy of the poorly communicated, and illy timed messages from the app.   3 You will NEVER get a callback; three observed concerns were so concerning that the owner was called directly. All three times she answered her phone, she declared that the situation was concerning and did try to communicate her dedication to safety but yet... she continued to allow her office employees to make some major mistakes without real repercussions on them. She may be dedicated to safety by handing out money for new locks on a few doors but that is about all that is seen. There is never a call back on a true solution.   4 Not Montessori anymore. They may have 1-2 teachers that have previous Montessori backgrounds, or a little continuing education. But generally, outside of the materials and the "rug play" there are no Montessori foundations or accreditations. Just the Montessori payment monthly.   Care is hard to find but keep searching.

The staff and teachers are wonderful and willing to go the extra mile to support homeschoolers (especially new ones, like us). They have great options for onsite classes, a vibrant PTSA, and all the community you hope for in a brick and mortar school. Port Gardner has helped me gain confidence, both in my choice to homeschool, and in teaching itself.
