I had a real hard time finding something suitable for my son last year and I was dreading the end of the school year but luckily I came across Kamp Extreme's flier for their summer camp. I attended orientation and I was very pleased with all of the instructors and their professionalism. Monday-Friday Kamp Extreme takes up the entire center used by the Family Bible Fellowship in Newark. There is plenty of parking and they even block part of their parking lot so the kids can go outside and play. Their classrooms are huge and they provide tons of board games, crafts, air hockey and foosball tables for the children to stay entertained. They have a strict check-in and out procedures and there is no way to get through the classrooms without walking by their front office first which is always occupied by one or two of the camp instructors. Ash Park is about two blocks away from the center and right after lunch they pair up the kids and walk to the park, if weather permits. They provide parents with a calendar of events for each day so that we are informed of the activities that the children will be doing every day. It's not all fun and games however, Kamp Extreme also provides emotional and character growth. During Session One for example, they went over the importance of integrity for the K-1st graders. 2nd and 3rd graders learned about who they are when no one is looking and 4th-5th graders went over the meaning of true character. In summary, I am extremely happy with my son's attendance in their camp and hope they stay around for years to come.

Reached out to the owner and the entire process was completely professional. Todd (takuraba) is extremely responsive, open to questions and spent as much time for all the questions I had. My gf was interested in putting her daughter in this program. She is currently 13 and in the tkd and self defense class. The very same day I spoke with Todd she was in a free trial class. He personally spends time working with every student to train, explain and ultimately mentor them. His ability to instantly develop trust wih all age groups is uncanny. I have seen him work this magic with age groups 5 all the way to adults. You can't teach this. It is insane how fast he accomplishes this. From the very first class she has been hooked. Loving every minute of it and wanting to return each and every week. After the first class on the drive home we asked if she liked it and she said it was OK but she couldn't stop smiling so it was an obvious giveaway. While I have been speaking about the owner a lot I can't forget to mention the other instructors who are also excellent communicators and very patient. The lessons/sessions are fun, informative and positive. Regardless of age, gender or athletic level... You will learn a lot and learn even more about yourself. This is a friendly and judgement free environment that you normally cannot find at most martial arts or self defense type programs. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. I thought they made a mistake with my letter, because there were PhDs, people who'd started schools in Nepal, Olympic gymnasts, NCAA track stars... you'd be hard-pressed to find a more diverse, well-rounded group. -That diverse, well-rounded class you started out with? Med school makes everyone focus on the same thing... and all of a sudden hardly anyone's got time to pursue outside interests. Kinda sad. +Flexible academic scheduling and encourages time off for research... -...if academic research is your thing. +Administration is high-powered and is able to obtain tons of opportunities for students via connections. -High-powered admin also means students don't get as much of a say. There have been several student life issues that've been "in talks" for the last 5 years. +total immersion in a lifestyle; really the best way to learn. -I could do without living in the hospital for 3 days straight, though. +You get to wear scrubs. -You don't get to watch Scrubs. ++Overall, you can make of the experience what you want. The friends, the patients, the mentors... late nights, panic attacks, finals, getting wasted, coping with death, and helping others to cope. Without these 4 (or more) years I guarantee you would've become a different person. It's truly a humbling and eye-opening journey.

The…read moredirector, Shawn, locked up my daughter and a couple other kids who he believed had Covid in a makeshift "infirmary" overnight until they agreed to either get a PCR covid test or their parents came and picked them up. Of course this being 2024, PCR tests are not readily available and required a one hour drive. Needless to say I picked up my daughter and was called a "Karen" by the director who didn't want to be called out on his punitive, unnecessary covid policies while he tried to convince us that these were Santa Cruz county policies - lies. We never recovered our lost tuition and I doubt my daughter will ever recover emotionally from being locked in an office overnight without being able to call her parents, without her contact lenses or any actual food. And the kicker was she never had Covid. Avoid this camp!
