So today I had a wardrobe mishap and could not go back to work without finding a sweater. However, I only has 2 minutes to get back to work and no stores in sight. I did see a shopping center and there was Explosive Bargains. I ran in like a lunatic where I met Joel the owner. Despite my rude an obnoxious demeanor he introduced himself and gave me his full attention. He helped me pick out something to wear so I could go back to my office without getting in trouble for my woredrobe malfunction. When I went to pay he told me they did not take cards. I had no money and Joel told me the clothing was on him and to have a nice day. He saved the day and was the sweetest man. I highly recommend supporting this small local business. Im from The Hamptons area drove up Island for a job interview ended up passing a shopping center that had a giant sign saying explosives on it which caught my attention. After interview backtracked a couple blocks to the shop .. and i have to say it was worth it I recommend for anyone who loves treasure finds and ive been back 3 times since im actually heading back tomorrow to grab a big stack of items from my bin that they personally let me held for me from when I come back and purchase as well as I should also inform that they are big-hearted, the last time that I was in there joel and tommy got me a large pizza for my birthday. 100+ read more

Explosive bargains is honestly such a fun place to look around in. There is so much stuff stacked high all over the place, you never run out of things to look at. Everything is reasonably priced, and they have a lot of cool collectible stuff. I always buy the jeans there because they are such good quality and are super inexpensive! We go take a look at what they have there every couple of months or so. The workers there are also super nice. read more

Great selection of books, lots of games (both board and video), nice assortment of clothes and jewelry, sports equipment... basically, if you love thrift shops, you don't want to miss this one. Massive selection! The owner and employees are great! Everything is cheap and reasonable you will find things that you'd never find in other thrift shops. Went to about 6 thrift shops before this one and I must say it's by far the BEST. Definitely will be going back and checking in every few weeks. read more

The store has an impressive selection of DVDs and CDs at fair prices, but beyond that, I struggled to find much value. The layout is cluttered and disorganized, which makes browsing a challenge. To top it off, they only accept cash -- something to keep in mind before visiting. read more
