I was recommended this florist by my venue. I was pretty excited (I'm not a huge flower person, so I was happy to speak with the florist with whom my venue was partnered.) It was very easy to submit a request on their website, they even sent a link where you can enter details about your wedding, add photos inspos, and share your pinterest link. On the day of my phone call, I had saved her number in my phone so that it wouldn't register as spam, and I had my ringer on. It was almost 10 mins after the scheduled time, I decided to give her a call. She said someone called during my appt time and she thought it was me. I felt like she was unprepared, even after I spent my time adding details to prep for the call. She asked me what day of the week the date was on and asked me what package we had. There were also some tech issues. She said she never got my pinterest link, so I immediately emailed her and said she could not find it. I had to mention checking her spam folder for her to find the email and even then she said the link was not loading, so I felt a little frustrated. At the end of the call, I told her I put in all my details during the booking process. She tried to look for it, and eventually, it "popped" back up, and she could now see my details. Everything just felt too unorganized. If I am paying money to have something done and set up for such a big day, I'd like to feel they really cared about the work, even in the prep process, but it definitely did not feel like that. Expressions Floral did the flowers for me and my my husband's beach wedding at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz! After meeting with a couple of florists who didn't want to work with a small wedding (we had between 40-50 guests), finding Lisa and hearing her enthusiasm for our big day was both a relief and very exciting! I was really amazed at Lisa's in depth knowledge of flowers and she knew almost exactly which flowers would be in season by the time of our June wedding. We were also thrilled that they offered arch rentals through their company - trying to find a separate company to rent an arch from for our ceremony was a little challenging so being able to have our flowers AND ceremony arch come from the same florist company was a huge bonus. When we saw the flowers and bouquets on our wedding day, we were blown away! I couldn't believe how well the flowers matched our wedding colors and other decorations (our colors were coral pink, cornflower blue, white, and gold). Everyone keeps talking about how beautiful the flowers were! The arch flowers were brought in and placed on our sweetheart table and it was such a stunning display. Our centerpieces were amazing, too, and every guest table had a slightly different display on each with seashells, flowers, etc. to really capture the feel of our beach wedding! Lisa went above and beyond for us with her services. Because Gilroy isn't too close to Santa Cruz, she offered to remove the arch after our ceremony and also came back to collect the centerpiece rentals/items after our reception ended at 11pm. Usually clients are the ones to return these items but Lisa graciously offered to stay in the Santa Cruz area for the day so they could return to pick everything up and it would be one less thing on our plates. They also did the boutineers for the guys and a beautiful floral piece for the arch. We also ordered some wholesale flowers for DIY bouquets and centerpieces. Being a preferred vendor for my venue, I thought that using Expressions would be a breeze. Unfortunately, the owner, Lisa, was incredibly unprofessional upon arriving on site. After requesting a small change to our ground florals (because we didn't find out what our flowers would look like until the day of), Lisa proceeded to insult me in front of my family and friends. I thought she was kidding at first, given the brazen nature of her comments. After realizing she was in the wrong and making me cry, she tried to take back her comments. For a supposed "professional," I'm still taken aback by how she conducts business. If you do decide to proceed, just know that Lisa will likely be gone on business trips every time you'd like to finalize your details, leading to a very last minute feel. read more

My husband and I met with Lisa over the phone twice before the wedding: once for an initial consultation, and once closer to our date to decide final details. During our calls, Lisa had my Pinterest account pulled up on her side so that she could see what we were inspired by, which really helped us communicate. Each time we spoke, I was blown away by how prepared, professional, and knowledgeable Lisa is. I could tell that she was genuinely excited about our wedding and our vision for florals. We went through every detail, from specific blooms to colors of bouquet ribbons. She even recommended against certain blooms that wouldn't survive the day in the weather we were expecting, which I was so impressed by - not only does she have years of experience, she also clearly won't oversell you or sell a product that she doesn't believe in. We were so pleased with our business with Expressions that we decided to rent candles and vases for the tables as well. When I saw our florals for the first time on wedding day, I was absolutely stunned. Not only was everything set up at the venue perfectly and on time by the Expressions Floral staff, everything was GORGEOUS. Expressions floral was amazing to work with for our 50 person wedding! At first, since it was a small wedding I was planning to do all the florals myself, but it turned out to be very overwhelming! What a relief it was to find Lisa and her team! Since we had a short engagement, I was fortunate to find Expressions floral within two months before our wedding. We met with Lisa, who had so much insight and information--she definitely knows the industry through and through! I brought in pictures, and she immediately understood my vision and asked a lot of detail oriented questions so we were on the same page. She made suggestions to enhance the construction and look of the florals, while keeping in mind our budget. Before the wedding, I had made two additions to the original proposal, and got quick responses of "we can certainly do that" along with the adjusted proposals. I greatly appreciated their flexibility and quick responses, as it helped in the overall planning process. The day of the wedding, the floral team was set to arrive at 2pm for install of the arch decor. When I had arrived by 1:45 at the venue, the team was already installing the arch florals and almost done! I was so grateful to see it all come together before I rushed to the bridal suite to take photos. When I arrived at the bridal suite, my gorgeous bouquet was already in a vase, and the boutonnières/corsages were neatly labeled in a box the table. It was such a lovely surprise to walk in and have everything laid out, it added to the special experience. I got rave reviews from everyone about the florals, they were so elegant and matched the existing decor perfectly. The arch install was a circular "floral chandelier" which was unique and I'm sure not the easiest to put together. They had to special order the circular ring to place the flowers in, and I'm so grateful my vision was able to come to life! It was the perfect addition, as it hung over our heads during both the ceremony and reception. My bouquet was stunning-- it was exactly what I imagined, the perfect balance of fresh and dried florals. I loved it so much, I ended up sending it to be made into a resin keepsake. The boutonnières and corsages were so beautiful and looked perfectly delicate, while also being durable! My dad mentioned the boutonnières were well made, because he kept hugging people and squishing it... but they bounced back and he never lost a flower! We were really pleased with Lisa and the Expressions Floral team. The flowers for our wedding turned out gorgeous and exactly as I had envisioned. We had a chuppah (Jewish wedding arch) and they were able to assemble and disassemble it for us, which was extremely helpful and something many other florists wouldn't do. We also really appreciated Lisa's professionalism in her communication prior to the wedding. My son passed away unexpectedly and we were devastated. This floral shop was only given two orders and unbelievably managed to get both of them wrong: 1) not deliver an arrangement which was sent by a grieving relative, nor did they communicate that they missed the delivery entirely 2) delivered an arrangement with a card which designated that it came from "-Mom" . My mom didn't send the flowers nor did the 3 other people I called trying to determine where the flowers came from. I finally called the shop who looked it up and apologized for the mistake, and told me who the sender actually was. They are short staffed and short on time and if you want to make sure that your loved one receives what you pay for, I would avoid this shop for the time being. I almost forgot, the delivery person for my Mystery Flowers told me he didn't have 1 minute to wait while I opened our electric gate because he had "other deliveries to make" so I had to call the shop and ask them to send him back, which they did. read more
