Renting the unit from Extra Space at Dixie Lee Junction was the easiest, smoothest process I've experienced signing anything. It was quick and helpful. They have a very secure process for accessing ​the facility and units. Very clean facilities. They even provide a lock. Very convenient. read more

I am editing this review because I did get a call from the district office and they are only raising the rental fee to $151. That is more like a 17% increase, which yet still seems high after less than four months at the facility. I hope to be out of there before they raise it again. My original review is below. I still am concerned that the companies business practice runs to the predatory. I was happy with Extra Space for three months, Then they raised my rental fee by 37%, from $126 to $173 per month. I did not select the initial, time-limited,  lower rate because I planned to keep the unit for a while. I selected the higher, but I thought, longer term rate.  They increased the rental fee in spite of this.  They have not responded to my request to review the decision.  I will now have to pack up what I have there and move elsewhere. We have a storage unit in Lenoir City for about 10 years. Most times I am there (5-6 times a year, the front gate is open (the gate lock not working and being repaired)... After repeated reporting, not much help. The place local management is pretty inept to live the gate open for years! where is the security? And the management always blames this on somebody - like long time to get a part (2-3 months?), maintenance folks, etc. I also had a storage unit in Indiana with Extra Space and was quite well managed. read more

They screwed up billing on one of my units and charged late fee as a result. I discovered their error and paid my bill, including the late fee (as I didn't want to waste my time arguing with them). Two days later I discovered they had locked me out of the unit. Really atrocious treatment of a good customer. read more

What a terrible experience. I rented a space from this facility in December of 2015 to store my travel trailer. At the time the light intended to illuminate the area my trailer was parked in was out. I was told it was going to be fixed shortly. It never was. In the May time frame they were spray painting the storage facilities and adding additional lighting. The light that was supposed to be fixed in December still was not fixed. In June of 2016 my rent was increased by 10%. In July of 2016 they had a fire that destroyed the contents of several of the storage units that were close to my trailer. I found out about the fire 1 1/2 weeks later when I visited the site to check on my trailer. There was never the courtesy of a call from anyone concerning the fire. When I went to the office to ask about the fire they were happy to see me because they said I needed to move my trailer from the spot it was in that day as my location was going to be used as a staging area for the fire restoration that was to begin the next day. They provided another space at their facility across the road that while not as nice as what I had was acceptable as this was to be a short term move. I was supposed to be able to return to my original spot when all the fire restoration work was completed. I believe in the August time frame one person storing their RV was jumped and beaten by someone that had broken into all the RVs and was living in his. Law enforcement did catch this person and my trailer fortunately was away at a service facility during this. When I went to the office to learn more about this I noticed that the area my trailer was parked in wasn't under video surveillance. They noted that and said that would be addressed. It never was. I took my trailer in for service on November 21st. I stopped by the storage facility on my way to go pick up my trailer from service December 30th. Keep in mind I pay via electronic transfer and I am paid for my space through January 6th. Guess what? There is a box truck parked in my space. I hung around till 930'when the manager Brad came in. He indicated that space had been rented December 7th. Well I have already paid for this. Apparently somebody mixed up and double booked the space. He indicated that I wasn't the only one that had run into this problem and that "he" was brought in to fix things. The only option he provided me was to return my trailer to its original spot where the restoration isn't complete so the gate to the facility is left open 24/7. Less than "secure" storage. He later called me back and said he would call the person they double booked the space I was in and see if they could get them to move to another space. I spent the rest of the morning hunting for a place to store my trailer and lucked out. I went back and terminated my lease with extra space storage. I will never use this company again. I called customer service on December 30th about this fiasco and was told someone would contact me within 48 hours. It's the 4th of January and not the courtesy of a return phone call. If you're looking for a place run by incompetents with poor customer service and a price at a premium this is your place. read more
