I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. If they had a negative star option I would use it. Had only been renting unit for 3 months and on the 4th month the bill jumped $105.00. With no notice, snail male, or email. 25% price hike. If you are like most people in Hawaii, we just make enough to survive. This was the first time I've had to rent a storage. I decided to try Extra Space Storage versus other companies as the website was very user friendly - prices are posted, you can pay online and reserve a unit, and there are tutorial videos. I was able to determine the unit size needed by watching a video they provided. There's even an app! When moving out of my storage, there was an awesome agent named Kyle who helped me. He stated he was from the Hilo branch but helping out for a bit on Kauai. Such a gem, he was super kind. Thanks Kyle!!! Keep up the great customer service work! Mahalo Nui! read more

They aren't kidding when they say the size is appropriate! The 5x5 is actually 4.5x4.5 but they make you "accept" that the measurement might be slightly off. I figured that just meant a fraction of an inch and they were covering their butts. Nope. They know they aren't even close to 5x5. But since I signed up online and prepaid, I'm SOL. I got this specifically for 3" and 2" items to both go in, so it is useless. There are also $100 in extra fees they don't tell you about until you are checking out. And the buildings don't tell you what door to go into for the inside numbers. They have letters on the buildings but my confirmation email didn't tell me what letter building it was in! LOL! I really didn't want to go with Extra Space became my experience with them on Oahu was horrible. But not many choices on Kauai and they had good reviews. Now I'm out $400. read more

I like the air conditioned space but the bad thing is the price keeps going up and I finally had to move. I couldn't afford it anymore. They should keep their prices affordable so more people would keep their space. read more

The manager "Wynona"of this facility is a "HOT MESS"! Ive been a tenant for 4 months and the last 2 months has been nothing but personal drama from this manager. First and foremost I'm not from Kauai and I am treated very poorly because of it. If I ask a question she Rudely gives me an answer and rolls her eyes. I've never been late on a payment and I have EFT for my account and this month my bill almost doubled. When I asked why my answer from her was " Because our rates fluctuate and when storages are in demand the rates go up. Frustrating to say the least, But the personal drama going on in this persons life should be left at home. There are a bunch of buildings on this property but only one has a restroom, a few weeks ago I walked into the building to use the restroom and was stopped in my tracks by yelling and screaming coming from the manager and another customer. It wasn't business it was personal and apparently the manager was cheating with the customers married son. Do not rent from this facility, there is a very clean a secure family called Guardian self storage right across the street. read more

New building They keep raising the rent and don't tell you prior to raising it, and don't just raise it a little. It is not Climate control they keep it cool in the day time until about 6pm then it gets hotter and hotter as the night goes on. It gets bad and you can't even breath In there. The sliding door was open for at least a month and never fixed. Still not fixed anyone can get into the building. The new building on a slant everywhere outside makes it real tough to load and unload from there carts, they will not stay they just keep rolling down the hill or into your car. Also they have these short pulls outside the buildings that people back into all the time (you can not see them when backing up) I have seen 4 different times and it really destroys the car. They are in real bad spots. My friend backed into one and it cost her $1900. To fix her car, really was not her fault the pulls bad news. They recently painted them still you can not see them when backing up. Also never answer the phone. read more

Been a customer at this facility since 2012. Just recently moved out because of the new owners have raised my rent twice since they took over. First, they fly in a painting company from AZ to paint the facility. Why not hire a local company? My husband and I go there one day because we needed to get some belongings out of our storage. These painters blocked the entrance of our unit, and told us their not moving for 45 minutes, that we needed to wait??? WTH? Why not paint after hours? My husband approached the painters supervisor and he brought this attitude like it was our fault for being there. Needless to say the manager had to drive in her little golf cart from the office(50 ft) away to break it up. She took the painters side of course, but looks like karma took charge of that because they replaced her with office people from the mainland!! Looks like that's who Extra Storage space wants as their customers. Avoid this place at all cost. read more
