QuikTrip also offers an additional 10 cents off per gallon if you pay through their app. That discount requires linking a checking account, which I prefer not to do, but even without it the posted price was excellent. The station itself was easy to access from the highway, with plenty of pumps and a clean, well-lit lot. Inside, the convenience store was tidy and well-kept, and Mrs. K. reported the ladies room was in good shape. Adding to the impression of cleanliness, a small robot was making its rounds on a cleaning patrol. For travelers watching their budget, this stop is a welcome surprise. I have to imagine it's owned by an actual mom and pop who have been in the convenience store game forever. The gas pumps are straight 80's style. Rotating numbers, no digital displays, and if you want to pay with a card you have to head inside. You get your choice of gas though, unleaded, unleaded, or unleaded. I like this spot. It's a great place to run to if I run out of half and half, or beef jerky, or pringles. The staff is always ultra pleasant and sweet. The funny thing is, I only head here while the sun is up. For some reason I find myself heading to other convenience stores. I feel like they close earlier than your standard gas station. The sodas on ice at the front by the check out counter are a serious nice touch.

It's only about a mile from I-26 / US 74. If coming from the highway, take exit 33 for NC 191 / Blue Ridge Parkway. On a Sunday morning around 11am, this gas station and convenience store were busy with a variety of customers including families with children and out-of-towners like us. We even ran into our Airbnb hosts. I guess this place is befitting of its name. I'd never heard of the Hot Spot chain before this visit. At the time of writing this review, there are about 40 locations in the Carolinas. They're mostly in South Carolina, with multiple locations in the greater Greenville, Spartanburg, and Asheville areas. In North Carolina, I spend most of my time in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) and Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point). There are no Hot Spots in those areas. I pass through Greenville and Spartanburg regularly on my trips to and from Georgia. However, I almost always fill up at a QuikTrip along I-85. It looks like there are only a couple Hot Spots along I-85 on that stretch. This Hot Spot has eight pumps. Apart from the branding, I can't say too much separates this place from other gas stations and convenience stores. It's run-of-the-mill, but also A-OK. I'd fill up here again. The price for premium fuel was in line with other more expensive gas stations like BP and Shell. The property felt clean and safe enough.

Still, it was easy to pull in, fill up, and get back on the road without delay. If I were an Ingles customer with fuel points, I could've shaved a bit off the total, but I'm not, so I didn't. The station itself was clean and well-kept, with no clutter or confusion. The pump worked smoothly, and the receipt printer didn't give me any grief--always a small victory. No issues here at all. They were nice enough to to point me nextdoor to Skyland Exxon to put my spare on (so I can honor my tire warranty when I get back home.) Skyland Exxon put my spare on (for less than $10!) and then, as they were backing the car out, were unhappy with the sound it was making... turns out one of the brake caliper bolts was MISSING! I've never been so happy to have a flat tire in my life! But the point, really, is that I love 'small businesses' run by real people! Togar's, Firestone and Exxon!
