The glasses I got were probably the best prescription I have had in years. Maybe it's just me but the clarity in this set of glasses seem better than previous visits to other offices. She was able to get me in the same day I called because of a cancelation. This place is super cool. The high ceilings and fireplace make this place feel historical. Super clean and inviting. I was taken into the testing room to see if there were any issues with my eyes. Light tests and pictures were taken. The lady who did the testing was super nice. It took about 20 minutes and then I went into another room to wait for the doctor. Dr. Douglas Walker was amazing. Super friendly and answered all my questions about my eye. I guess wonkey problems happen with age. At least it's nothing serious and I don't have a eye tumor or something. I made another appointment in a few weeks to get my eyes dilated to make sure there aren't any unseen problems. So yes, eye will be back!

Go figure. Anyway.... Dr.Gyving was a super nice lady. She specializes in helping children with their eye problems. My daughter felt very comfortable with her. She tested my daughters eyes and explained to my daughter about her eye sighted issue in a kid friendly manner. She took the time to answer all my daughters questions and helped ease the anxiety of her eye problem. We were given a prescription and off we went. *****Update....A few months later, after moving from the coast and back to the PDX area.... we lost the prescription. I called the office an asked for another prescription. Lisa the receptionist, was a great help and told me that I just needed to go to the place I wanted to buy glasses and they could fax the prescription to that place. Whew...that's easy enough. Better still, she has checked out my new glasses for me when I have had problems with them, with the result of their being sent back to the lab instead of my having to muddle on, wondering if it's the glasses or my eyes. She retired in the fall of 2017. I wish her a long and happy retirement, but I know that I miss her and I'm pretty sure her other patients will, too.

The Eye…read moreSurgeon Dr. Oliva did a corneal transplant and it is still living and doing well, after 2 previous tries from a different place in California by their eye surgeon, which both failed within 30 days. My new one was transplanted by Dr. Oliva on June 4th, 2024 still going strong 6+ months Later. I feel very grateful to have such a skilled professional working on my eyes. My eye journey will continue for as long as I can see. I will add a new Dr. in the Medical Eye Center for my Glaucoma. We are scheduled to meet soon. Happy to be with such wonderful people!! He was seen at the medical Eye Center in May and found that he needed cataract surgery. We needed to do that after the six month mark from the heart surgery. So we made an appointment in August one week after the six month mark. The morning of our appointment in August they called and canceled it because we need a clearance from the doctor. I don't know exactly why is it that we could not have been told this in May, June or July? Why so cavalierly waste our time over something that they knew ahead of time they needed? It's not respectful it's not efficient and it's definitely no way to treat people.

And within 2 minutes she had the screw in and tightened as well as the screw on the other side, which was also about to fall out. I removed my credit card to pay and she said, "No no no" even after I had previously said we were visiting from CA (not able to be a returning client.) we were and remain so grateful. In those 2 minutes I also noticed that they had a great selection of glasses - I found quite a few pairs that I preferred to mine - but alas they are 800 miles away from our home. If you live anywhere near abandon, COME HERE! Great selection, great people!

I needed a new presription because I couldn't read the menu at McDonald's and other fine fast food…read moredining establishments plus could not read the subtitles on foreign movies on my television. I got a new prescription and new glasses at Bandon Vision Center. So far so good but now I have to use the old pair of glasses when I used the computer as I am doing now. My distance vision and reading works with the new glasses but not the middle. I was told I could get trifocals but wish I had known this when I got the new glasses. Why wasn't I told that before not after the fact. In all fairness they offered to give me a new pair of glasses with trifocal vision but am not interested. I'll go back up to Coos Bay next time.

She said she tried to call my insurance ahead of time, but didn't have the PIN number on my card. Well, duh....why not call me and get it? I realize the medical industry really doesn't care about the patient any more, but there is no excuse for this. I have no idea if Dr. Bodman is good. I will never see him and I will not recommend him because of his lame and inconsiderate office staff.
