Add in that several of the staff are condescending and rude if you have any sort of an issue, besides unprofessionally chatting about random things while you sit and listen awkwardly. You get one star reviews. I had gotten some dental implants in Mexico I needed adjusted and knew that I would need to have them purchase the right sized drivers. I sent over the documentation about my implants. They could have at any point after getting that, given me a call back to let me know that it was going to be $2000 to get the drivers. That's without any of the work. Just to get the tool to be able to do the job. At which point I would've opted out and made the decision that I made, I'd go back to Mexico. Instead, they had me come in for an office visit to find out. Kind of lame, but wouldn't be writing this review if that's all that had happened. I get to the office and the first thing they do is insist that they need to do a CT scan to be able to continue so they go ahead and put some radiation in my head and charge me nearly $500 for it. Just to have the dentist finally come in glance at the scans for about 5 to 6 seconds and then say yeah we're going to have to order these drivers, it's going to be about $2000 for that, plus the cost of the appointments. That information did not at all require a CT scan to ascertain. When I emailed the office and let them know I was thoroughly unimpressed with this fact therefore would be leaving them a bad review, one of the girls from the office called me up to argue with me and tell me how necessary the scan was and how I was wrong. So, here we are. I am a man of my word. And here's that bad review I promised.

I had to cancel two very important meetings to make the 30 min trip up to Brookings or go with the option of waiting a week for the next available appointment, risking the $1200 dollars of work already done on the tooth. I was able to rearrange my schedule. I tried calling back using my phone that the receptionist recognized the phone number and she had immediately put me on hold, twice. After the second hold time, I called back using my work number, and she immediately answered. I do not recommend this dentist at all.

I've been to four other dentists in Brookings, and finally settled on Dr. Chang, since we reached clear and reasonable agreements on the work to be done and the cost. Just a note about local dentistry in Brookings: Unfortunately, dentists in Brookings are mainly non-PPO, so all services for most customers are out-of-pocket. And dental work in Brookings is more expensive than my previous rural doctor. But I found that Dr. Chang offers some discounts for negotiated procedures, and has been willing to work with me on payments. And he is, in essence, an artist. I've been pretty impressed by his work. I have had to be more patient with the time it takes for some procedures, since he is adamant about bone healing and strength. On the other hand, when problems arise, the office responds quickly. I am impressed by his personal phone calls after surgery to check up on patients. He's also rapidly available via email. That was especially helpful when I started developing a minor infection on a weekend. They have a decent website, where I can also contact staff quickly. Dr. Chang is not talkative, and tends to be all business while working. That's okay. I can ask him direct questions and get good answers, and his hygenic staff is interactive and helpful. He is very focused, and is also very attentive to detail. He has up-to-date equipment, and they monitor for health concerns.

He reviewed the x-rays taken during my cleaning and did a thorough examination which was fine. The reason why I am downgrading my rating for them is because I wasn't told that there would be a charge when I had to make this "mandatory" follow up visit. It feels like they make you do another office visit just to squeeze some extra money out of you. Also for any new patients, a word of caution here: They will ask you some question like "If money wasn't an option, what would you like to change about your smile or mouth?" Obviously this is a ploy on how to up-sell you on their many specialty services (which probably also come with a nice price tag to boot). Like I said before, the staff is very nice and professional, I just don't like how they are not upfront with you on certain charges.

He actually listened to my concerns unlike some of the other dentists I've seen. Some dentists are more concerned with doing larger treatment that isn't always necessary. But Dr. Rogers addressed, with importance, what needed to be done to keep my smile healthy without all the unnecessary. He's great with both children and adults therefore, I would recommend Dr. Rogers to anyone and everyone!!!! And not to forget, the staff there is just as amazing as Dr. Rogers to work with!! A.D.L.

Disappointed. I was going to get Invisalign but when I asked too many questions about the contract,…read morethey refused to perform the procedure on me and refunded my "non-refundable" deposit (likely because they were worried I would sue them if the procedure failed). There were many inconsistencies between what the dentist had told me to my face vs what was written in the contract. For example, they told me to wear the aligners for 18 hours a day minimum, but the contract said 22 hours. The contract also said I had to wear the aligners for 1 year minimum but the dentist told me 5 months. The contract would have forced me to allow Invisalign access to my medical and dental records for educational and research purposes, which I did not want, and the dentist said there was no way to edit or alter the contract. I did not question her on this and I tried to move on to my next question. She wouldn't let me ask any more questions. The dentist felt that I didn't trust her simply because I wanted clarification on some questions regarding the Invisalign contract. That is correct, I do not trust a dentist who is unwilling to answer a few questions about her own contract. (Plus she didn't have the courage to come tell me herself, she had her assistant deliver all this information). Seems fishy to me. I will be telling my family and friends to drop her.
