I got glasses 15 years ago, and they were awful - when I put them on, I got disoriented, so I gave up. Dr. Inouye checked last week, and I got a new pair, and they're awesome. I appreciated his approach. It worked extremely well for me, and I can tell that my problems with eye strain will be reduced. And everything is so much more colorful! read more

Been a patient for a long time now. I been on a waiting list for over a year now and they made the mistake and gave my father the appointment. When I called to clear it up the receptionist told me it's too bad and I'll have to wait . And told.me they are shutting the office down in a month and to go else where. When I asked for my last eye prescription so I can order else where she told me that's not possible . So screwed up that they treat patients like this. Atleast own up to the mistake instead of making me feel bad about it. Dr inouye is great and has always helped me . This time I'm left blind and helpless feeling . read more

I agree with the other reviewer that Dr. Inouye is a very nice man. However, I completely disagree that his approach regarding accepting poor vision even with correction, is acceptable. I went to see Dr. Inouye for an eye exam to get new glasses. It had been a number of years since I'd seen an eye doctor, and simply thought I needed stronger lenses. He checked my eyes and ordered new glasses for me. After receiving my new glasses, I wasn't seeing clearly out of my left eye. I went back and he did another exam and told me, basically, that's as good as it gets because I'm getting old. I waited about 9 months or so and that eye just seemed to be getting even worse, so I asked my primary care doctor to send me to an opthalmologist for a second opinion. She at first said they're sending patients to see Dr. Inouye. I said, nope, I need someone other than Dr. Inouye, I need a specialist because I told Dr. Inouye something was wrong, and he told me I'm just getting old. Thankfully, my primary care doctor sent me to Pacific Vision Center to an opthalmologist. And, thank God, he did all the dilating, etc., necessary. Turns out I have a massive cataract that is getting worse and worse. I am now scheduled for surgery, and have been told by the surgeon that he can probably restore the sight in that eye to the level I had when I was 20 years old. Had I just listened to Dr. Inouye, I would have gone blind in that eye. Dr. Inouye, when a patient tells you something's wrong and they come back for a second exam, and they tell you they still can't see correctly out of one eye, please do the right thing in the future and tell them to see an opthalmologist. There is no reason for anyone to have to accept a result of blurry vision. So, for those of you reading these reviews. Please note that even though the other reviewer liked Dr. Inouye and gave him 4.5 stars, rounded up, she says that Dr. Inouye told her she should accept less than clear vision. I went to Dr. Inouye in October 2016 because he was the only doctor on the EyeMed network anywhere close to my home. I have worn glasses for 50 years, so have a good idea what a thorough exam is, and I did not get one. I was a brand new patient to him, yet he did not dilate my pupils. No medical history was asked for. No visual fields exam was given. No mention of cataracts or other health issues possible for an older patient. Although he was a very friendly man, he had bad breath so that made his exam room smell bad. His prescription for eyeglasses was very different from my previous one and my old glasses work pretty well still, so I did not order my new glasses there. Good thing, because I had a refraction done by my old doctor in Sacramento when I was visiting there a week later, and her prescription was way different. I did talk to the lady in his office about getting new glasses because I wanted to find out how my insurance benefits worked on glasses since I was new to EyeMed. I used to work for VSP and the way she explained how I would be charged did not make sense with my understanding of how the copays work. She said EyeMed did things differently. She wanted me to pay two copays for my progressive lenses and charge an extra copay for UV protection when it is included in polycarbonate lens materials. I called EyeMed when I got home and they confirmed that she would have overcharged me. As I suspected, their benefits work the same way as they do at VSP. Altogether, a poor experience. read more

I really liked Dr. Inouye. He is prompt, courteous, and thorough. He takes a conservative, holistic, and non-invasive approach to eye care...different from most Optometrists who want to dilate and probe...and charge for it. If your eyes look healthy and your overall health is good, he will not submit you to extensive examination. I appreciate this sensible approach. He went over the potential problems I would have with distortion in my lenses if I corrected all of the astigmatism I have, so we decided to partially correct as a compromise. My vision will not be totally crisp and clear, but it will be much improved and I will have a minimum of distortion. His office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It appears to be a busy office, but scheduling is done so people do not have to sit and wait. They did not require me to fill out forms. Everything was done through a personal interview with the doctor himself. read more
