Avoid this place at all cost. This business has very dishonest practices and seems almost scam-like. I am hoping my review saves at least one innocent, unknowing person the hassle and wasted $$ since I was deceived by the positive reviews. I now suspect all the positive reviews are friends or somehow related to the biz owners. Trying to keep the review short and to the point: I paid $120 but they gave me the wrong prescription that were way too strong for me and even looked so much thicker than my old glass lenses. I voiced my concern but they adamantly claimed it was correct. I'm not a person to complain so I just paid and left but I had a gut feeling something wasn't right. I ended up taking my glasses back because it was unbearably too strong and my friends and family that wear glasses even said something is not right for them to be too strong and way thicker than my old glasses. The man and woman at the store claimed it was correct but if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay extra $70. I asked them to fix it because I rather spend $190 for correct prescriptions rather than waste $120 + spend more to get it fixed at another place. I ended up paying just $30 more because the new lenses they were planning on using for my fix that they quoted me $70 more for wasn't in stock. Wtf? So they just use whatever they have in stock even if it's not the right prescription for the customer? This explains why I needed it redone in the first place. The worst part is the "fix" was still way too strong for me to the point I can't wear it for more than 10 seconds without feeling my eyes are going to pop out the socket, probably because they used to wrong prescription again! I can guess it's because they didn't want to special order the correct prescription for me but still wanted my money so used the closest to my prescription they had in stock. I went to another place that fixed it for me and confirmed I was deceived and got ripped off. I decided to take the $150 loss since I wanted to save my mental health rather than argue with these terrible, dishonest biz owners since they're just going to deny it and tell me I don't know anything about glasses (that's what they said when I called them out, but I've been wearing glasses my whole life and never had a problem until I came here). I came here kind of on a whim because it's been a neighborhood staple for so long. I've been needing new sunglasses and blue light lenses, and Mr Park was absolutely amazing. He listened to what I wanted and almost immediately handed me a pair that he believed would fit my big face best. Needless to say, it fit well and checked all of the boxes I was looking to check. Additionally I gave him a pair of frames from an old pair of glasses I had and within a few days, he cut and installed blue lenses, which were a god send since I'm always video conferencing with clients and drafting motions. Alright. I've been going here forever. They are obviously Korean-run but they do speak English. They're pretty straightforward when it comes to discussing prices and what you need. I came in recently by myself (yikes! I've always come with my mother who spoke in Korean) and needed to get an eye exam along with changing up my prescription for my contacts. The exam was done within 30 minutes. With all the, "cover your left eye and read the third line for me" and the "which one is better? One? Or two? One? Or two?" And the dreaded act where you have to stare into the dreaded light for 5 seconds while the optometrist looks deep into your soul. None of this is uncomfortable, by the way. It's just more of small awkward conversation between you and the examiner. Anyways, after that, I went out and discussed how many contact lens boxes I needed. The price was established and that was it. That was how simple it was. ALSO, I've gotten my glasses here and it's changed my life. I used to hate glasses because of the hard frame and I've broken them several times until they offered I try the flexible glasses that I can bend and do all sorts of stuff with. This has really improved my life because my glasses now weigh like nothing and feel like nothing! read more

I'm surprised Eye Galleria doesn't have more reviews/ratings. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for more than half of my life. In those years of needing eyeglasses/contacts, I've gotten all my exams, glasses and contacts done at Davis Vision (or what's now known as Visionworks). But after my insurance expired, I ventured out to small businesses to get my vision taken care of because I never appreciated the service/care Visionworks provided - they were always rude, not very helpful, and SLOW. But I only continued going to VIsionworks because it's what my insurance covered at the time. Although Eye Galleria is pretty far from where I live out in LI, I bit the bullet and tried it out. The shop itself is small, but I would say that their inventory of eye frames, contact brands, and sunglasses are pretty generous. I've never had a problem with parking as they have a small parking lot right in front of the store. I don't remember who the optometrist was when I initially came here back in 2015, but I remember they did a thorough eye exam for glasses and contacts. I also got my frames from this store, and I just get the lens replaced with my current prescription so I can wear them to this day and people compliment them often. I took a break from Eye Galleria because it was so far from where I live, but I recently went back to get my contact exams done here this past week and let me tell you, it's WORTH the trip from LI. I suffer from chronic dry eyes and my eyes had been SO red recently. But of all the eye exams I've had, Dr. Jenny Mar went above and beyond to make sure all my questions and concerns were answered, and ultimately helped me find out what was wrong with my eyes. Dr. Mar was wonderful, patient, and extremely helpful. I could tell she takes pride in her work and wants to make sure that her patients (or clients? haha idk what the right term would be for optometrist) can see clearly and comfortably. After evaluating my eyes, she found that my meibomian glands were clogged which was why my eyes were irritated, red, and extremely dry. It gave me tons of relief to finally have answers of why my eyes were acting up the way they were. Dr. Mar gave me tons of tips on how to take care of my eyes, the discomfort I feel, and even suggested several home remedies to aid in the healing of my eyes. After fitting me for a new brand of contacts, Dr. Mar insisted to check how they sit on my eyes and found that the curve of the contacts weren't allowing optimal oxygen flow to my cornea, so she went out of her way to fit me for the same brand of contacts but with a different curve that fits my cornea the best. I've never had any of the prestigious optician stores treat me the way Dr. Mar has, and I'm so appreciative for how closely she paid attention to detail for my eyes' comfort. I share all this in-depth information to show the high-quality care/concern that was shown to me by the staff at Eye Galleria, which I truly appreciated. Eye Galleria's care to detail and customer service is unmatched to other name-brand optician stores I've been to year after year. The prices here are definitely not cheap, but I don't think their costs are extremely unreasonable nor out of the ordinary compared to other optician stores. When you're paying out of pocket, vision care is not cheap -- what do you expect? As someone who pays out of pocket for vision, I think Eye Galleria's prices are fair ESPECIALLY for the quality of the products they offer. read more

I have been wearing glasses for a very long time and have tried many different stores including BJ's, Costco and recently Americas Best and dollar for dollar their quality is far superior in lenses and frames. You get what you pay for because a pair of glasses her has lasted me past four years and their quality of lenses is crystal clear. I had gone to another store and when they saw the quality of lenses they quoted me over $500 for the transitional progressive and I paid $400 complete with the frame. The service there is fantastic and they are very helpful. Also had my eyes checked there in addition to my routine check up, and they are on point. Eye Galleria is listed on hubs' insurance forms as one that accepts his Union insurance. They are located on one of those small Korean strip malls on Northern Blvd and easily missed. We had to go looking for it with the GPS. We came here twice, and each time they gave us the run-around. The first time, it took them close to half an hour to find information on his insurance. You would think the workers would know what insurances the company accepted, not to mention the fact that we also showed them the Union paperwork that had their establishment highlighted (by us). They told us to come back because they couldn't verify our insurance information since it was a Sunday. Fine, we came back next time on a weekday. While they were rifling through their papers AGAIN, the optician left. When they finally "FOUND" the paperwork, they said, oh you need an exam, right? The doc left, you will have to come back another time. This place is a complete JOKE, not to mention racist. I am pretty sure that if we spoke to them in Korean, they would've jumped at the chance to do some business with us. They kept glancing at us and looking at each other and making comments in Korean. You could just feel the air of hostility. Especially in this economy, and this place was empty both times we visited, there is no doubt in my mind that the place is going to shut down in no time. Saw two of the negative reviews and felt compelled to write this because they have no merit whatsoever. Not sure what world they live in, but I know the employees there would never give attitude. Nor are they racist...that review is just completely ignorant on your part...And the eye doctor works a specific schedule...it's called calling in advance to see if they are in or not. Annie H. makes some good points about her dissatisfaction with the service, but I think it's going a bit far to assume that people are racist and to post it online without any actual overt racist actions by the store staff. Not to mention that Annie H. posted in 2009 and now it's 2012 and her prediction of store closure was not correct. I'm not Korean and I've been there more than once to buy glasses. In fact, the current pair of glasses I own have made it through 4 years with me. 2 in Cambodia with all the dust, pebbles, rain, and rust possible thrown at it and I can still wear it. Once I was canoeing and my canoe flipped; the glasses still stayed on my face and made it through without a scratch. If I ever need an adjustment they do it for free. I will be visiting again soon to get an eye exam for contacts and I will be trying out a new insurance plan that I just switched to so we'll see how they deal with the paperwork for that. read more

I've been getting my contacts from Eye Galleria for a couple of years now and they give great service. I try to avoid going during rush hours because it does get busy there. True that it helps if you're Korean because obviously the owner/staff is Korean, but in my opinion this applies to any business of any race I've been to or dealt with.. people are more accustomed to customers who speak their own language; but nevertheless they do have non-asian customers as well. To comment on the insurance issue, just because it's listed that they accept a certain insurance doesn't mean they have ever dealt with it before. The numerous times I've gone to get my contacts fitted and while waiting, most customers I've seen there pay out-of-pocket for their glasses/contacts so it could've just been a misunderstanding. Anyhow, I do recommend this place to get your glassess/contacts. I have never had problems here and they're always courteous. read more

Their prices may seem steep to some - because unlike chain shops like Pearl Vision and others - they only offer name brand frames and products. They carry brands such as Tom Ford, Gucci, and Chloe etc. But in comparing other shops along the same lines - prices are typical and average. I guess I can't really say I love or hate this place. It's an optical after all. They're fine. Nothing amazing, nor horrible. Eye exams, doctors, sales staff, selection and prices - are all ok. As far as eyewear and optician stores go, if you're looking for name brand, luxury items, then Eye Galleria is pretty up to par with on-trend styles. I've been a customer for years now and have always gotten my eye check-ups, glasses, sunglasses and contact prescriptions here. The service has always been polite and professional, and the employees go above and beyond to try to help you find glasses/sunglasses that actually flatter your face instead of just trying to push the most pricey products at you. That being said, pricing for the items is more or less the same as what you'll see online with other retailers, with a sale section in one corner of the store that seems to be updated seasonally. In terms of getting an appointment with the Optometrist, I would definitely call in advance and check for availability especially since August/September gets pretty busy with the back-to-school rush. Not to be a creep, but on more than one occasion, I've overheard some customers relentlessly try to haggle down prices on some bougie designer name sunglasses (the kind of behavior that would definitely not be kosher at a department store or sunglass hut etc), and the employees always handled these customers with patience and respect. read more

Rude and incompetent. Asked for my prescription, just to be told "-2.25". I literally had to drag the rest out of him. Is -2.25 for my right or left eye? What about the other eye? The entire time he gave me an attitude and was very reluctant to give me information about MY file. When I asked him if that was everything in my prescription, he said "Pretty much, yeah." After asking incredulously if that was all or if he hadn't told me anything, he said "Nope, that's everything." A minute later I realized he hadn't told me the axis measurements and had purposely withheld that information.. Are you serious?! Disgusting customer service. The optometrist is also rude. Every time I went in, it took at least 20 minutes to locate my file. They'll make it near impossible for you to get your prescription. I can't believe I gave them so much business over the years. Will not be returning and will make sure that others steer clear of this place too. I just broke my frameless eye glasses in half where one of the lenses broke off at the corner, and I had to fix it. These guys were friendly and helpful by suggesting that only one lens can be replaced instead of replacing both lenses. I thought I had to replace both, but the person told me otherwise. This store is the most friendliest eye glasses store I have been to throughout many years. All the other stores just want to sell and sell. But, these guys are interested in helping you with what you need. I have been their customer for more than 5 years, and would not hesitate to tell others to go there and get their eye glasses. This is a small Korean business located in my neighborhood. Contrary to a review provided by another customer, I found that the staff friendly and helpful. Again, contrary to the previous review, even though I am not Korean, I did not experience any linguistic or cultural difficulties with this store. In fact, on several occassions, when my daughtwer went in to purchase minor repairs on her eyeglasses (not purchased there), staff made the repairs for free. They are by far the best optician in all of New York!! Went in to get glasses and have several questions about lens compression and coating. The owner was very thorough and explained why I didn't need the lens compressed with my prescription while all the other opticians I've been to pressured me into compressing my lens for extra cost. He also explained the pros and cons about getting coating for my lens. He is the most honest optician you'll ever meet! I had my new glasses in two days for a fraction of the cost I would pay anywhere else. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get honest price and quality service. read more
