I just have to say... I needed my glasses tightened. After spending hundreds of dollars at The Eye Institute for my eye appointment, which I do annually, I was told that they would tighten my sunglasses. But what they do is make you pick up your prescription at the place that sells the eyeglasses. When I went in there, they were going to charge me $15 to tighten my sunglasses. Even after all the money I spent... They still felt that necessary to charge me $15 so I didn't do it. I decided I would rather give that money to a different company since I felt that it was very petty, considering how much money has been spent at The Eye Institute over the years. That being said, I went to have these tightened. They popped out the lenses, tightened the stems, cleaned the lenses, and then even tightened the screws on my glasses. When I reached for my wallet, I was told that it wouldn't cost me anything. I explained I had every intention of paying and wanted to at least give the technician some money, but he refused. THIS is what good customer service looks like. The fact that they were willing to do this makes me realize that I need to be changing eye doctors. Leaving this here because this business is now Americas Best... but used to be eyeglass world. I hardly take the time to leave reviews but this place did an exceptional job. My daughter is 5 and was recommended to have a full eye exam by her school. All other optometrist either 1. Didn't exam children under 6 (including target, Stanton etc) 2. Never heard of my insurance before and didn't bother to find out more or 3. Had a 5+ month appointment due to only seeing children 1x a week. I called them up and they said as long as my child knew her ABC's and 123's she'd be okay. I went in and the staff were friendly, helpful and incredibly patient. They ended preforming an eye exam with shapes easier for my daughter to identify. The Dr was so incredibly patient with my child who got nervous and cried/screamed because she required the eye drops. The Dr was so professional and took her time for my child to get comfortable. The techs and staff using the machine to look into her eyes were also incredibly patient (my kiddo can't keep her head still to save her life). And to top it off the front desk called my insurance directly to get confirmation of my coverage and everything else they needed so I wouldn't have to worry about sending in a reimbursement and paying 400+ out of pocket. The glasses were a bit pricy but I added all the bells and whistles (that was on me) and I still think the service and product are worth it. Also the kid selection had a wide variety! My last glasses, I got up the road at Americas Best. I had gone there first because I hear they were good, but sadly that was not the case for me. I had a shadow impairing my left peripheral vision and it did not get better with glasses, eventually went away at a few weeks. But when i brought this up to the optometrist there, he cut me off and said it's nothing and I'll get over it. No care and very condescending. This year i chose Eyeglass World and I'm so grateful to Dr. M Batth, who listened to my concerns, went over my test results with me and showed me great empathy and support. I feel much more confident in myself and this store. I got my first glasses from them and I'm waiting on my sunglasses now. Went with my son to get us both new glasses. The service was poor (measurements was off which meant lenses where incorrect but got told I needed to get use to it. Had to have another exam just to be told the the lenses were wrong. But the thing that tops it off is the sent me a letter four months later saying I still had a balance and needed to pay it or it would be sent to collections. After reviewing what I had paid ($365.00) I called and they honestly had the nerve to say I didn't pay the amount due. After I told them I did pay the amount and my card statement match the amount billed that day they changed there tune. How many other people have they done this to and got paid. I've happily gone to Eyeglass World for my eye glasses and exam needs for several years but they really outdid themselves this time. Starting with the usual thorough eye exam by Dr. Yao on to getting my two bi-focal glasses, less than a week later, everything went smoothly and quickly. This was my first time here and I was very impressed. Paperwork completed, pre-exam tests completed and my dr appointment all completed very timely, Dr Yao was friendly and took the time to explain the process and how the reading distance could be adjusted. Moved into the store and they had a great selection of frames, including selections that fit my large melon head! If I could give this review 0 stars I definitely would. I've always had great experiences here but today I had an appointment where I walked in 5 min late, checked in and the receptionist said they could not see me because I was more than 5 min late. By the time she checked me in it was 6 min after the appt. She was very rude and was no way helpful. She immediately dismissed me and told me i had to cancel my appointment since it was 1 minute after when I had walked in at 5 min after! First off, why does this place after how many years still not have a proper parking lot? Secondly, I am a busy mom or a 2 yo and an infant. To schedule appts I have to make proper childcare arrangement. They sent me text messages and emails, which I glanced at as reminders. Yes, I remember the appt I put it on my calendar. I am a responsible person. If I can't make something I call and cancel it. I show up to my appt after a busy weekend to find out my appt has been cancelled... Because I never replied "C" to confirm. No where did it say - confirm or we will have to cancel your appt. She said Dr. Office "do that now." No, no they don't, or they have an actual human call you. We are flooded with so much information and junk through text that it's hard not to just skim the surface of the first sentence. I guess people are flakey nowadays and don't show up, but it's unfortunate for the reliable busy people. I won't be coming here, nor will I purchase my contacts here anymore. read more

The amazing staff here saved the day for me! I went to the DMV and failed my vision exam (No surprise, as I've needed glasses for years). I called around everywhere trying to get a same day appointment with doctor who could fill out the DMV paperwork and they were the place with a appointment first so I took a chance. When I came in the staff was super prompt finding all my information and processing me through to get the exam. When I handed over the DMV paperwork Dr. Vu knew just what to do with it. I was worried about the turn around to get glasses but the lab here rocks. They got my glasses ready in 30 minutes and I was on my way. I made it back to the DMV in time and everyone there was impressed with how fast I was back. If you need quick and accurate service this is the group to turn to. read more

Well, my box has not come and AGAIN, no one answers the phone so I can check the status. Maybe an answering machine would help??? Don't trust when they tell you if your insurance is "out of network." I went there and they told me that. It was my first time but my parents have been there multiple times so we had to prompt them to double check and lo and behold it turns out I was indeed "in network." They use multiple programs that they need to organize. Because of this delay they let a family go before me (even though I made an appointment) which resulted in me starting an hour late. Dr. Yao however is very nice and knows what he's doing. Just to be clear, the low rating is NOT for Dr. Yao. He did an excellent job. He was clear, concise, and professional. When I was waiting for him to write my prescription the staff (the same ones who took a long time) were very rude and condescending to Dr. Yao. Maybe there's more to it but from what I saw he was very calm and soft spoken and the staff were very aggressive with him. Finally as I was waiting to leave and pay I once again had to wait another 15-20 min. Because they again couldn't find the right info. I would've given a lower star review but Dr. Yao was very nice. The staff, though they were friendly to customers, fumbled their work and made it very apparent that multiple employees were all on a learning curve. read more

I've been to Eyeglass World for years, for both my exams and my glasses. Dr. Yao is great and does a thorough job. The frames are wonderful too. I take good care of my frames and usually have the same pair for 4-5 years. I strayed away from Eyeglass World to try LensCrafters and regretted it. The doctors seemed inexperienced and the frames are marked up so much. LC had a lot more designer frames but for triple the price. I personally prefer designer frames because I know they'll be a higher quality and will last longer, but EW still has a good selection and I've never had trouble finding a pair I liked. The frames are always affordable, they always have promotions that save you money, and the turnaround time is incredible. I also tried Target Optical and would've had to wait 1-2 weeks. EW turned around my frames in 2 days. Forgive me for straying, Eyeglass World. I was foolish and I will always come back to you. read more

I've gone here for 3 years and have always ordered my contacts through Eyeglass World. This last time I was given the wrong prescription even though I REPEATEDLY told the girl although I have an astigmatism THE DOCTOR told me it is not bad enough to warrant contacts for an astigmatism. She said, "yea yea ok" and lo and behold when my contacts were delivered today she had ordered contacts for astigmatism and I can not wear them at all because my eyes can't focus and they hurt my eyes. Not at all happy, been their customer for 20 years and due to work schedule and their business hours I lost an eye exam appointment. I am at work from 9am-7pm. Have no way of returning a phone call. They do not stand behind their work. I purchased new lenses for RayBans that I had purchased from them two years ago. They made the lenses too large and the frames cracked a month later. When I went to get the issue resolved they said I would need to buy new frames because they could only cover the frames for one year even though it was their mistake by making the lenses is too large. read more

Karina was the first person to greet me at the front, and took exceptional care of me from the start. I broke my glasses, they weren't repairable and I didn't have a back-up pair, and Karina was able to help get me glasses same-day! I don't currently have vision insurance, so the $78 deal for 2 isn't bad, but because I need high-index lenses, along with anti-glare and scratch-proof - I ended up paying $300 for 2 pairs. Went in with my youngest 2 of my adult kids to get our routine eye exam. The pre-test provider as well as the young lady who had us fill out the necessary forms, were both very friendly and polite. . . We then moved on to the actual eye exam. My 2 kids were fairy quick and then they were off to pick some glasses . . . My eyes are, as the Optometrist said, a bit tricky . . . He then got me seeing as straight as an arrow and I went to select my glasses as well . . . Eventually a young lady named Jennifer assisted us in getting the glasses all sorted out w/ any extras and what not . . . I don't need all the fancy shmancy shizz, so I kept mine pretty basic. . . My son , now he does need all the extras and my youngest not so much. . . She then informed us that they had the buy one get one free deal going on, so we all went to get a second pair . . . At the end she let us know the damage without insurance and that was gonna be a no go, then she gave me the price with my insurance which brought it down to about 1/2 of the original cost she had advised . . . Before she charged us and let us be on our way, she had another person named Georgette come double check her work. . . They were both very polite and professional. I enjoy dealing with people who are friendly and have a sense of humor. I feel like it's a must when you are part of the customer service experience. I have always enjoyed my visits to this place and the people who work there are part of that pleasant time . . . I eventually and reluctantly paid her and then we were on our way, being advised our glasses would be ready in a week . . .
