First appointment dr had to cancel due to an Emergency coming a good hour away contacted me at the last minute. I confirmed with my insurance it was in network and that either my medical plan or vision plan covered the services the insurance plam scheduled an appointment my insurance fully covers retinal on My medical plan and on my vision side. Trying to still charge me a $50.00 co pay whenever my medical part of the plan covers that. I have never had a co pay with this plan for either services and was advised by my insurance company it was fully covered and since have an appointment confirmed with another vision center it's fully covered with no co pay as I've never had one yet. Ridiculous they didn't check as the insurance verified everything was covered I am going to my out of network Dr. It's fully covered also for these exams $0.00. read more

The staff are very friendly but you do feel a bit rushed through the process and as other reviewers have said their prices for glasses and contacts are quite high. I don't mind the $59 fee for the additional exam because seeing the intervals of your eye is a valid exam and the only one anyone should be mad at that it's $59 is their insurance provider for not valuing your vision enough to cover it. I have worn contacts in the past but I was a bit shook what when the technician brought my new lenses to try she just handed them to me standing in the exam room with no table or mirror to use. Luckily I've been wearing them for many years so I require neither but she didn't even ask me to wash my hands first. I had to ask if it was ok. The glasses were super expensive and the process was kind of rushed and didn't feel very customized for the price we were paying. No real help in selecting frames that best fit our faces. No measuring. Just very hands off. I don't require or even want someone up my butt when shopping but the complete lack of attentiveness was odd. When picking up our glasses it felt rushed. Their business hours are from Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. It does not give anyone time to visit the business that works. I talked to an associate about adjusting the business hours and I let her know that I had to take leave in order to get a eye exam And she said those are our hours and I suggested that they their hours to maybe 9 to 6 but she said that those are our hours and I said it must be about you all and not the customer and I also stated they must make a lot of money, and she said no that's not the case. I scheduled an appointment for my wife and I called to let them know that she was running a few minutes late because she had a little medical issue and they said if she is 10 minutes late that they would she would have to reschedule. I asked if there was anyone after her they stated no and I said well why can't you see her on the Appt? The clerk only said those are the rules if you're 10 minutes late you have to reschedule And this was at 3 PM. They have two more hours but they cannot see her for an appointment because the rules states 10 minutes or you reschedule. I will certainly find another doctor to do business with from now on. I had an appointment with Dr. Phan today and was really happy with my experience. The facility was extremely clean and there were employees walking around disinfecting. Reception desk employees were really nice, confirmed my information, and explained my insurance coverage and fees that would be due after my exam. I was brought back by a tech and had a few images taken and tests performed. It was really quick and painless. Dr. Phan came in and she was awesome. She's very personable and took the time to make sure I understood everything she was doing. We ran through all of the usual tests quickly. Dr. Phan walked me out to the lobby area and got me set up with a tech to pick out frames and lenses. We reviewed my insurance coverage in detail. All potential fees and add ons were clearly explained and written down. I appreciated the transparency and thorough explanation. She helped me find frames in my price range, got me fitted, and ordered my new glasses. I even spent less money than I was anticipating. Overall, I was very happy with the service! read more

I went in for an annual exam which I do my anual exam every year. I have two insurances in which I understood they will only bill one insurance which Is crazy! I just wanted a new prescription so I went in and had my retinol imaging included which I nerve requested!!! And turns out they charged me $29 for that! I then waited for the doctor over 45 minutes and it wasn't crazy busy, he then came and to my surprise he was extremely nice and very helpful however things changed when I dealt with his assistant whom I explained I was not interested in getting eye glasses since I was considering doing lasik eye surgery in a few months she was very pushy I wasn't even lead to checkout I was approached immediately by his assistant Jessica. Which I explained I'm not looking for eyeglasses so she showed me sunglasses so I tried them on and asked what would my insurance cover. I wanted a quote and that's when she started being pushy she sat me down and was like oh it'll only be $55 I'm like ok that's fine I gave her my card and all of a sudden she starts up charging me more additional stuff when I just wanted the sunglasses and pay the $10 for my eye exam. All of a sudden my total comes to $119 I'm like"what?!" that's not what you told me. At this point she's already charged my card and I was instantly upset how she didn't take the time to explain things and was so quick to charge my card. Then she's like well we can refund you it will take 7 days at this point I'm ready to leave. So I just took the paper where she stated I would get a refund and left. I do not recommend this place! The doctor is nice but the staff needs additional training on how to explain cost to a customer! They broke the glasses trying to adjust the frame and refused to fix their mistake for free. They wanted to charge her to fix the glasses they broke and she couldn't drive without them. I have been going to Eyeland for years and this last visit has to shown me that they do not value their customers! To be clear, the doctors are fantastic there! They are attentive, detailed and kind! Their staff on the other hand is the issue! I received my prescription on May 19th and have yet to receive my contacts or glasses! I was told that one of my contacts is on back order and that they would inquire with lab on an ETA, and then follow up with me! I was told that twice and no follow up! I called a third time, was told by a gentleman that the office was out to lunch and someone would call me back. Guess what, no call! I understand there are things beyond their control! However, if you say you are going to follow up then follow up! Why does the customer have to call 3 times!!! Even worse, they don't seem to concern with giving me what I paid for or provide me another solution!!! If I could give zero stars I would. Made an apt for my 6 year old and show up only to be blind sided by a $29 charge for some diabetes photo that you cannot opt out of. They will do it with or without your consent. Now my insurance fully covers eye exams, dilation and all but no insurance will cover this as it is unnessisaary, yet this place thinks it is mandatory. They are not upfront about this charge when you call to make an apt. Then because I question it I get told we are not the right fit for them. No kidding! I dont like being blindsided or scammed. I received glasses that are only to see far away. NEVER have I ever gone to a Dr. that only prescribes glasses to see far away. All my glasses have adjusted to my vision as a whole. I was extremely nervous about getting an official eye exam done. I've always had good vision but after working long hours staring at a computer screen, I noticed my vision was starting to deteriorate and needed to see an optometrist quickly. I did a quick google search and found one where you can make appointments online and they were able to see me the net day! How convenient! I did have to make sure my insurance covers the facility before making an appointment, which I highly recommend you do before making any sort of appointment in healthcare. As someone who works in healthcare, please be sure you go online or call your insurance to see if a certain place is covered as this will ultimately help you. As soon as I had arrived, I was kindly greeted by the staff and I had to fill out some paperwork. Be sure to actually read the information they are giving you as you can opt out on some services if you had them before. Just be sure your insurance covers the services they provide, as insurances are tricky to handle. You can't just ask for whatever your insurance covers because they don't know, as your insurance only knows this information! It's like this in all healthcare! I had a comprehensive eye exam done and I was seen quickly after I filled out the paperwork. The staff that all handled me, including Dr. Nguyen were extremely friendly and they made me feel really comfortable during the whole process. They have some really high tech equipment in their offices and I was fascinated by all the equipment they had. They were able to explain to me all the findings they had and what each exam was for. I felt like I learned a lot as a patient and what I also needed to watch out for. Next, I was able to pick out a frame and lenses I wanted and the staff that helps out with that were also helpful. They explained what the different coatings were and what they do. Granted they were pricey but this facility is not a chain, it's a family owned and operated facility so you are paying for the services they provide. I thought I'd try a new optometrist this time around and chose Eyeland Vision because it is close to my home. During the "exam" the optometrist told my I had developing cataracts and retinopathy in my eyes and she could not proceed with the exam unless I purchase a retinal screening. I could not believe I was being given an upsell. Sure it is covered by my insurance but only with a co-pay involved. After being turned away by the "optometrist/saleslady" they charged me 119 dollars for an exam I did not receive because I did not purchase the upsell. But wait. It does not end there. I went to an optometrist at the VA and had an exam done there. After the exam I mentioned my experience at Eyeland Vision and he took a second look and found NO cataracts and only specs where bleeding my have occurred. I will be taking my VA glasses prescription to my old optometrist office and order my glasses there. read more

I was able to get my paper prescription however I was disappointed they had not included my pupillary distance, I told them I was going to order online, and this is crucial information. Went from $29/child to $150/child despite being very clear at the time of booking. Was told that the $29/pp fee could be waived for the first appointment, then the front desk stated it was mandatory when checking in. Was very clear with them in regards to our insurance at the time of booking and we were told that it was covered 100%. Walked into their office for an appointment with 3 kids and were told we owed $179 for each child. (Not to mention, their coverage 'idea' was wrong - I've confirmed for a second time through our insurance). Would not recommend for families who rely on appointments and a vision center to be versed in their own services and pricing. Definitely seems like the pricing is completely optional for every person that picks up the phone. I do NOT recommend using this company. When you fill out the paperwork you have to be VERY carful. At the bottom of the form there are different exams and photos they show you. However, in fine print it says that it may or may not be covered by your insurance. Apparently me telling them I only "want whatever my insurance covers" does not constitute opting out of the extra exams. As we are starting to check out I'm expecting to pay a $75 plus tax contact exam, but instead get stuck with a $146 bill. After asking why the bill was so high, I'm told it's because I "did opt out of the additional exams and photos". I explained that I told them I wanted what was cover by the insurance but was stuck with the bill anyway. When we went back the following week to practice putting in the contacts I was informed I had a $75 balance. I was irritated and told them that I had already paid the $146 which I shouldn't have even been charged in the first place. She explained the charges and I left irritated. On the drive home I got to thinking about the changes we had gone over so I called back to get some clarification. On the phone call they added another $29 charge for contact training!! Something that was not quoted to me on my first call to make the appointment, nor either of the 2 times in the office. I told the lady that I "don't appreciate being taken advantage of and that they need to speak to the doctor about this issue". I explained that "money is not an issue, but I don't like being taking advantage of". She said she'd speak to the doctor and call me back. When she called be back she said the doctor told her to return the $146 charge. I told her that made no sense since I still owed the $75. She then explained that "the doctor doesn't think I'm the right fit for his office and I needed to find another doctor". I was furious but politely told her he was correct. "I don't fit into a place where the doctor take advantage of his patients and swindles them. I fit into a place that values honestly, and integrity". They are still sending me emails for my son's birthday and felt a letter terminating the doctor/patient relationship was important. But in the letter explained how important it was that I find another physician because of the disease they found during my exam!!! Are you kidding me!?!? read more

The Doc was awesome. However, their eye glasses are over priced. Being quoted $933 for eyeglasses is crazy. When i told the sales woman i was only willing to spend no more than $400 she said we could reduce the price, but NEVER showed me any downgrades. The sales girl didn't seem to want to change what she showed me, and was taken a back when i told her no thank you. Then when I asked her to measure my Pupillary Distance she said well it depends on the type of frames. I know this to be false, and believe it was because I would not buy the over priced items. Bad Business! I didn't have any vision insurance so everything was out of pocket. Over the phone the quote for a medical visit was $89. In the end, they charged me $119 for the visit but didn't charge for any extra testing and the medical visit cost was $119 even though they quoted $89. I had an ulcer in my eye and I asked them to not do any additional testing since I was paying out of pocket. They insisted on doing this eye pressure test when my eye hurt so bad and could barely keep my eye open. Then insisted on testing my prescription on my glasses even though it had nothing to do with the visit. Then the doctor said she would get me certain things and order a cheaper brand of eye drops but she didn't. The drops she prescribed me for was for $125!!! The pharmacist worked with me to find an off brand that cost me only $29. THEN before I made the follow up appointment, I confirmed with the receptionist that the follow up will be a no cost appointment. When I arrive at the follow up, I confirmed AGAIN that the visit was no charge and after 10 mins of waiting, they informed me that they will charge me a full cost of a medical visit. They wouldn't even honor their word when I made sure to confirm TWICE that the appointment would be no cost to me. If this is how they treat NEW patients, I don't know how they stay in business. I would rather pay another fee at a BETTER doctor's office than continue to go to a place that can't get their story straight. read more
