I walked in with almost no warning after a quick request on yelp. They were prompt, courteous, and professional. Dr Ratnasingam was casual, efficient, and conversational. The best combo of traits I've come across at an eye clinic/storefront combo. This made me feel very comfortable proceeding with an eyeglass purchase. The staff who helped me choose eyeglasses were also extremely helpful and courteous. I can't stress enough how important this is as I'm well aware eyeglasses are a high margin, high reward industry I've always been reluctant to purchase eye-ware at the same storefront. I ended up with two sets of eye-ware that I put to immediate use with a cross canada drive from Ontario to BC. The prescription sunglasses they helped me choose were a perfect fit and a perfect lens. My reading/working glasses were also a great fit and I'm growing very attached to the fit and lens choice. read more

Horrible experience at Eyes by Design. I trusted Jennifer's professional advice upon purchasing my glasses. She suggested me to take a picture and see which frame looks best, which was unprofessional and shows her lack of expertise. She did not explained the pros and cons of the frames and make recommendations based on my prescription. Without knowing I was provided with bad advice, I paid $850 for the Gucci glasses and ended up getting a pair of $800 Kate Spade glasses that causes pain to my nose bridge and behind my ears, leaving deep red marks. Submitted a Google review with full honesty that their staff Jennifer suggested me to purchase the Gucci frames. Jennifer then lied about this situation by replying back saying I chose to purchase the frames despite her recommendations. This experience shows that Jennifer does not take accountability for her mistake and put blame on their customers for what happened. read more

Finally I found a Doctor who I can recommend him to everyone. After having a very bad experience with another store which was actually my neighbor at 4750 Yonge St, I found this store in Don Mills. I trusted my neighbour and spent around $2,000 and bought two classes from her store and none of them was wearable. I don't know how the owner obtained her license. She didn't know anything about how to do a proper eye examination!! read more

The receptionist was a very sweet girl, while registering she offered to give free polish for my bf's glasses -just cause! And I was called in for a brief examination with the air puffs before actually being called into a private room by my doctor. He was very thorough with making sure which lenses I was seeing most clearly out of, explaining everything in process. Afterward he gave me all of the diagnosis, details about how my vision got worse, what I could do to prevent it, and pretty much answered any/every question I had. They annually will call me to have me come in for a check up which is a great stress reliever, not having to try and remember and mark it on my calendar a year in advance. Price was affordable as well, since I do not have eye care insurance. read more

Finding Eyes by Design since my optometrist moved turned out to be an amazing experience. Dr Ratnasingam was very personable and professional explaining everything as the eye exam proceeded. He was also very accommodating examining my father in law's eyes when my son couldn't do his. Also, can't say enough about how fantastic the staff was. Both a Jennifer and Yaz were patient in ensuring both my son and I were satisfied with our selections. I like that I never felt rushed like my past experiences. I would like to have more designer selections to choose from both in store and online but for what I needed this time around it worked out very well. So I've been looking everywhere for a good optometrist, and I must say the doctor and his team were awesome. Dr. Ratnasingam was really nice and explained everything very well. I have been to many other places to buy eyeglasses and often walk around trying many different pairs without much success of even finding 1 that I liked. This was the opposite at Eyes By Design. I have been here twice now and both times there were multiple pairs that I couldn't decide between. The staff did an excellent job with their selection of eyeglasses to display. The service was also excellent. They are not pushy but provided just the right amount of help for me. Uma, the optometrist, was amazingly friendly and explained every step of the process in layman's terms. I will DEFINITELY be returning here for a pair of sunglasses next and will be a life long customer. read more

Appearance: The store is laid out very well with a clean, conservative look. When you walk in, you can tell that the staff care about how the facility is initially perceived. Staff: The staff was very nice and helpful. I must have tried on 10-15 pairs before I settled on the one I eventually purchased. They also gave me their most honest fashion opinion and weren't just trying to sell me the most expensive pair. The Doctor: I had lots of different questions regarding lens thickness, prescription bias and conventional/digital lenses. The doctor was able to answer my questions and give me sound advice as to the best lens setup for my eyes, and almost more importantly, my price point. The Glasses: There is a good selection of frams. The lenses are in the upper echelon of brands, so be conscious of how much you are willing to spend. Overall: I had a very good experience and am looking forward to getting my glasses. This is a good choice for someone who is willing to spend a little more to get a good pair of glasses. read more

I was looking to change optometrists for no particular reason other than that I was curious to get a second opinion and I was not disappointed. From the moment I walked in, I knew I would be well taken care of. The office was comfortable with modern decor but what really impressed me was the outstanding customer service I received. The staff there are extremely welcoming and personable. During the examination I felt very comfortable with Dr. Uma Ratnasingam. More so than my previous optometrist, as he was very easy to talk to but more importantly very knowledgeable and extremely thorough during the examination. I've never been able to see small signs from a distance and Dr. Uma solved that issue by giving me the correct prescription. I never expected to benefit so greatly from simply switching optometrist but now I know what level of service is out there and I won't settle for less. I'm extremely happy to have given them a try and I won't be going anywhere else. P.S. The clinic has the latest technology which really does make a difference. read more

The staff are knowledgeable, have access to great technology, but are also so friendly and take the time to talk to you and find the right 'fit' for you - both style and price-wise. They are accommodating (I had to change my appointment twice as I was sick) and a huge plus for me is that they are open late some nights during the week which means I can make my appointments after work.
