I know the main campus (Upper east -68th at) location well, but since this is closer to where I…read morelive, I came to this ED for the first time and I had a great experience. No one wants to come to the ED, but I couldn't think of where else I would get my concern addressed as I was not feeling well. The hospital is quite old so the facilities aren't exactly brand new but that has no relevance on the care you are getting in my opinion. Everyone was super nice, thorough and I thought my visit went smoothly. I never thought I would be "recommending" a hospital, but three's a first for everything so there you go:)

My mother arrived at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital around 10:00 AM on 8/10. We understood that the transfer was delayed because we were waiting for a bed. What I do NOT understand or accept is the complete lack of communication that followed. We waited for hours into the middle of the night with very little information. Around 3 AM, after everything we had already been through, we discovered that a room had been assigned approximately 30 minutes earlier at 2:30am, yet no one had notified us or provided an update regarding the next steps for her transfer. When a family is being told that their loved one requires an urgent transfer and treatment, communication is not optional. We should not have to continuously chase staff for basic information or discover on our own that a bed has already been assigned. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled by both the nursing staff involved and hospital administration. If a patient's condition is serious enough to warrant an urgent transfer, there should be a clear process for keeping the patient and family informed, especially after waiting this many hours. The lack of communication, accountability, and coordination added an unnecessary amount of stress to an already frightening medical situation. I sincerely hope hospital administration reviews how this transfer was handled and makes changes so another patient and family are not put through the same experience.
