My girlfriend and I came here during our 4-night SPI trip, and this ended up being the best meal we had all week. From start to finish, everything was excellent. Our waitress, Marlene, was fabulous. She was attentive and friendly. For our entrees, we ordered the Filet Mignon and the Smoked Duck Breast. The filet was incredibly tender and flavorful, which isn't always easy to achieve with such a lean cut of meat. The beef jus paired perfectly with it. The duck breast was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The highlight of the night, however, was the Key Lime Soufflé. This was easily one of the best desserts I've ever had. The balance of flavors was perfect. Not too sweet, not too tart, just the right amount of key lime. The soufflé itself was also baked perfectly. Every course was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the entire meal felt incredible from beginning to end. If you're visiting SPI and looking for a memorable dinner, F&B is absolutely worth a visit. read more

We dined at F&B on New Year's Eve 2025. It was a +/- experience. First, Marlene was our waitress, she was awesome! One of the best service experiences we've had in years! Hustle is her middle name... thank you ma'am, you made the evening! The menu was a chef's selection 4 course menu, with options for each course. We opted for the wine pairings with each course. The restaurant was decked out with New Year's regalia... with balloons, hats, noise makers, at every table... really fun atmosphere! All the staff were decked out fancy, looked great! For our first course, we selected lobster bisque mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was divine, absolutely fabulous. The lobster bisque was sub-par... while plentiful, the lobster was not fresh, tasted very fishy. The second course of the seafood medley and venison bites was equally Jekyll and Hyde! Venison, superb, tender, cooked perfectly, tasted great. The seafood medley, all super fishy ... not fresh! Crab claws mushy too, obviously frozen prior. Oysters pitifully small and warm. Shrimp, while cold, were very fishy and mushy, as if previously frozen. No bueno! Our third course was the surf/turf and Akashi short rib ragout. The turf was awesome, best steak we've had in years! The lobster ... pitiful, small, overcooked, tough and fishy! Disgusting! The ragout was good, but we're not sure why chef's make beef dishes sweet ... good beef stands on its own, no need to over season! Not a well conceived dish... Our final course was the chocolate soufflé and lemon cake ... both were terrific! The soufflé with Chantilly cream and whipped cream was very good. The star dessert was the lemon cake with fresh fruit! Light and airy cake, the fruit was to die for. Delicious! The wind pairings were good, although some of the selections were "tired" favs, like "The Prisoner"... IMHO. Such a good wine list at F&B, the pairings were disappointing! The staff whisked away a 1/2 finished pre-dinner martini, which Marlene graciously replaced! When you spend $500+ on dinner for two, even a special evening, the restaurant should deliver. We had our anniversary dinner here thanks to our sister-in-law, who had previously dined here. Everything was perfect, from the drinks, ceviche, mushroom ravioli, seafood pappardelle, perfectly prepared filet mignon, and chocolate souffle to die for! I'm going to be thinking of this dinner for the next 20 years. We had such a lovely meal at F&B! Started with the cucumber martini, Italian 75, oysters, and ceviche. My husband called the cucumber martini grown up yum yum juice. Everything was perfect, the oysters were so fresh it was evident they just arrived today. We all ordered the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi with the most incredible combination of sauces and fresh herbs. I couldn't stop eating it. We also ordered a side of broccolini and carrots, broccolini was buttery and herby, carrots came with a lovely curry sauce. My son ordered the last which he liked just fine. My wife, daughter and I ate here during our April, 2026 trip to SPI. My daughter had the Seafood Papperdelle. She liked it alot. My wife had the lamb chops. These were fastastic. She asked for and received them medium rare. They were flavorful and perfectly cooked. I had the seafood risotto which was excellent as well. We did not much care for the hamachi crudo (raw yellowfin tuna) which we shared as an appetizer. The atmosphere is upscale, and we rank it one of the best restaurants on the island. read more

We made reservations for our last evening at SPI and chose this eatery for the menu selections and their signature cocktails. We were immediately seated, and Steven provided un bicera de aqua with fresh mint for the table. The gin in the Garden Party Cocktail was dressed with floating flower petals and was sweet and earthy. The Passion Fruit Mojito was sweet and strong, very well balanced. Our meal began with the Saffron Mussels with a slice of toasted rustic bread. The flavors popped, and the mussels were moist and savory. The favorite of the table was the Octopus & Calamari, with the most tantalizing flavors, and the succulent octopus was divine. OMG, the Koge Rice Cakes with the soy and scallion dipping sauce offered an out of the ocean food experience. Our baby girl was offered the Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce with freshly grated parmesan, and she absolutely loved it. Her mocktail of Blueberry Lemonade was tart and sweet! Very delicious! For our entrees, we had the Buger, perfectly cooked, seasoned, and tasty! Love the fries as well! We also had the seafood Risotto. Finally a lil upscale experience amongst the laid back vibes of SPI. It wasn't super high end or pretentious in the way where I felt out of place in my beach clothes. They were very welcoming and we had basically no wait time. The decor is absolutely beautiful. I loved the little touches like the jellyfish chandeliers (that move!), the artwork around the restaurant, and the pretty water cups lol. Even the bathroom is nice and clean. Now for the food! The scotch eggs were perfectly fried and the meat inside was really tasty. The brunch burger was delicious and messy in a good way. The banana pancakes were okay (wish there was more banana) but we still enjoyed it. Will definitely have to come back! read more

I don't write a lot of reviews from travel destinations but if something is note worthy, I want to let others know. We travel to South Padre yearly while visiting family in the area. Sometimes, the choices are few (especially for finer dining) and speak to the beach crowd, with numerous fried choices and bar bites. F & B is most definitely note worthy and deserves the five stars I'm giving it. While it is pricey for the Island, it is worth it. They are a scratch kitchen and you can tell that items are locally sourced and expertly prepared. This does mean that they may run out of things (like the catch of the day) but there will be other options and they are all great. While there is unfortunately no view of the bay or ocean side, you will still feel warm and content in the restaurant. It is well appointed with soft, beachy colors, fresh flowers, a nice bar area, and well-spaced, comfortable seating. The service is terrific as well. We loved it so much that we went back the following day. Disappointingly, they were out of the mushroom ravioli but replaced it with lobster ravioli one evening and the most wonderful seafood pappardelle pasta the next evening. We also tried the grouper catch of the day, the beef tartare, the octopus and calamari appetizer, and the key lime pie souffle. Everything was wonderful. F&B is a mandatory for fine dining every time we visit South Texas. The staff has been around a long time and they know their business. They are very attentive and the timing is impeccable from one dish to the next. F&B always plays nice relaxing music that makes the experience very enjoyable. This is a talk-to-each-other dinner place where you slow down and visit. The food is always amazing and prepared with so much thought and talent. I'd say come here for the amazing food but this place does everything right. We chose F&B for our 33rd anniversary. I'm pretty sure we've had at least a couple others here. I am a single mother and came here with my daughter on vacation....I really try to spend our money on special experiences. Please do not waste your time or your money on F&B . We felt ignored almost the entire time we were here. The sangria was basically cheap red wine over ice with blueberries and chopped up apples. No flavor. The Caesar salad was disappointing at best. Romaine core instead of actual lettuce. Croutons from a bag that were just terrible ...seriously?'! And the dressing was both bland AND overly fishy . I ate two bites and set it aside. After about 20 minutes our waitress came over to retrieve the uneaten salad. No alternative was offered. The $14 salad remained on my bill. The $110 ny strip was cooked well but full of gristle. The onion purée was under the steak despite my asking for it to be removed from the plate.
