    Muscle Bucatini with saffron sauce

Beautiful farm to table restaurant. Service is fantastic. Steven was our waiter for the evening. We started with the ceviche which was delicate and refreshing Ceaser salad was unique I couldn't pinpoint t what it was but really good. Something about it gave it the richness of truffle without having truffles Entree was the risotto and the evening special of muscles bucatini pasta with a saffron crustacean sauce And a cookie

Loved, loved, loved everything about this place!! The service was super top notch and very friendly. The food was amazing, the filet was perfect and cooked just to my liking! The restaurant is beautiful inside too, loved the fresh, crisp and upscale look and the decor was just perfect. It's pretty spacious with a nice bar area too; I oved the fresh floral arrangements throughout the restaurant. This is a must go!!!

I'm going to be thinking of this dinner for the next 20 years. We had such a lovely meal at F&B! Started with the cucumber martini, Italian 75, oysters, and ceviche. My husband called the cucumber martini grown up yum yum juice. Everything was perfect, the oysters were so fresh it was evident they just arrived today. We all ordered the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi with the most incredible combination of sauces and fresh herbs. I couldn't stop eating it. We also ordered a side of broccolini and carrots, broccolini was buttery and herby, carrots came with a lovely curry sauce. My son ordered the last which he liked just fine. Everything was cooked perfectly, and I'm so happy we came here. We can't wait to come back!

Our food was amazing!! Our server was attentive and took great care of us! Beautiful restaurant I loved the light fixtures... reminded me of jellyfish. The AC blowing of them gave them movement. The Wagyu rice was out of this world!! The chocolate soufflé was the perfection

The food was the best I've had on the island this summer!! Fresh ingredients and delicious flavors! The service was spot on! Great service! As for the ambiance, it was lovely and clean! They installed noise reduction panels on the ceiling to reduce noise and they did a fantastic job! What a difference!

We made reservations for our last evening at SPI and chose this eatery for the menu selections and their signature cocktails. We were immediately seated, and Steven provided un bicera de aqua with fresh mint for the table. The gin in the Garden Party Cocktail was dressed with floating flower petals and was sweet and earthy. The Passion Fruit Mojito was sweet and strong, very well balanced. Our meal began with the Saffron Mussels with a slice of toasted rustic bread. The flavors popped, and the mussels were moist and savory. The favorite of the table was the Octopus & Calamari, with the most tantalizing flavors, and the succulent octopus was divine. OMG, the Koge Rice Cakes with the soy and scallion dipping sauce offered an out of the ocean food experience. Our baby girl was offered the Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce with freshly grated parmesan, and she absolutely loved it. Her mocktail of Blueberry Lemonade was tart and sweet! Very delicious! For our entrees, we had the Buger, perfectly cooked, seasoned, and tasty! Love the fries as well! We also had the seafood Risotto. Buttery, perfectly cooked and packed with various seafood, it was epic! Lastly was had the Key Lime Souffle, very worth the 20 minute wait, and elegantly prepared! Very well made! Then the Big Chocolate Chip Cookie, soft gooey, and packed with chocolate chips! Overall a perfect night of family and food! Can't wait for next time!

This place is amazing. Food was top notch and Paul at the bar has a wonderful knowledge of the island as well as menu suggestions. We had the oysters, calamari and Koge rice cakes. All were delicious. Great higher end date night or dinner spot. They do recommend making reservations for dining room on the weekend.

Amazing service and great quality food! We didn't have a reservation but they still promptly accommodated us on a Friday night during a busy weekend. Staff was very attentive. Definitely will return!

Finally a lil upscale experience amongst the laid back vibes of SPI. It wasn't super high end or pretentious in the way where I felt out of place in my beach clothes. They were very welcoming and we had basically no wait time. The decor is absolutely beautiful. I loved the little touches like the jellyfish chandeliers (that move!), the artwork around the restaurant, and the pretty water cups lol. Even the bathroom is nice and clean. Now for the food! The scotch eggs were perfectly fried and the meat inside was really tasty. The brunch burger was delicious and messy in a good way. The banana pancakes were okay (wish there was more banana) but we still enjoyed it. Will definitely have to come back!

I don't write a lot of reviews from travel destinations but if something is note worthy, I want to let others know. We travel to South Padre yearly while visiting family in the area. Sometimes, the choices are few (especially for finer dining) and speak to the beach crowd, with numerous fried choices and bar bites. F & B is most definitely note worthy and deserves the five stars I'm giving it. While it is pricey for the Island, it is worth it. They are a scratch kitchen and you can tell that items are locally sourced and expertly prepared. This does mean that they may run out of things (like the catch of the day) but there will be other options and they are all great. While there is unfortunately no view of the bay or ocean side, you will still feel warm and content in the restaurant. It is well appointed with soft, beachy colors, fresh flowers, a nice bar area, and well-spaced, comfortable seating. The service is terrific as well. We loved it so much that we went back the following day. Disappointingly, they were out of the mushroom ravioli but replaced it with lobster ravioli one evening and the most wonderful seafood pappardelle pasta the next evening. We also tried the grouper catch of the day, the beef tartare, the octopus and calamari appetizer, and the key lime pie souffle. Everything was wonderful. F & B is a great place for a date night, celebration, or just good, clean food!

We did have to wait a few minutes to be seated, and weren't sure why we weren't given menus. But we saw signs indicating to order at the back counter. We went to the counter, took a menu and came back to our party to decide what we would order. You place your order, give your table number and they bring your food. The food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, but it was warm and delicious. My husband got the blacked mahi sandwich, I got the Iron Skillet Shrimp (pictured) and a Turbo Pelican Colada. Everything was delicious! The iron skillet came with 8 huge shrimp and I opted for garlic butter, which gave a dipping sauce. The fries were HUGE! Our kids loved the fries, burger and hot dogs that they ordered. The drink I ordered was strong and tasty, the toasted coconut was the icing on the cake. The drink came with a beautiful drink decoration, which my kids found cool to play with. We would visit again and plan on it.

It has become one of our favorite places to eat on South Padre Island. One of my favorite things is how genuinely pet-friendly they are. They even have a dog menu, so our dachshund, PeeWee, gets to enjoy lunch with us too. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that truly welcomes the whole family, including four-legged family members. After watching the KRGV Take 5 segment, I loved learning that the new owners were the cooks before taking over the restaurant. You can absolutely tell they know what they're doing. The quality of the food, the consistency, and the atmosphere have all been elevated under the new ownership while still keeping the laid-back island vibe. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, reasonable prices, and a place where everyone--including your dog--is welcome, Mahi Nic is the place to go. We'll definitely be back again and again with PeeWee and the rest of our family and friends. Highly recommend!

5 stars (for the island -- probably 4.5 anywhere else)…read more Just very solid, affordable seafood. As you walk in, the front is sort of a grocery store -- coolers and frozen food, shelves with salsas and sauces, drink coolers you can grab from, and a fresh fish cooler. So if you want to come in and buy fresh fish, or pick shrimp or fish out of the cooler to have them cook for you, that's the kind of thing they're doing. The seating area is large with big tables, so there was plenty of room even though it was pretty full at lunch. We came in with a family of six and were seated right away. It did start getting busy as we were leaving, with some people waiting for a table, so you probably want to come early. Grilled fish, shrimp & oyster platter, $15.50 -- everything on the plate was good. And I want to highlight the coleslaw -- super good, some of the better coleslaw you're going to have. Crab fingers (pound order), ~$31 -- very good, and probably one of the better ways to eat crab since they're already shelled for you. You're just picking and eating. One note: this is a no-frills place. You're not getting fancy silverware or fine dining -- everything's served on paper plates with plastic utensils and paper napkins. It's just a place you go to eat fresh food and not worry about the rest. In general, nothing our party had was bad. Everything was pretty solid and very affordable. Definitely a place to stop in for lunch and give a try -- bring the whole family, because there's something on the menu for everybody. Would highly recommend, and would return.

Walking in my son was like this has a great vibe, it's going to be so good! Walking out he said... well we got tricked. We ordered raw oysters, they were super gritty I had to pick sand and stuff out of my mouth, I gave up after the second one. Clam chowder was like white water with seasoning on top. It had zero flavor and was so watery. Luckily our server had just brought us a sample so we didn't lost any money, just said no thank you, but thank you for the sample. Dinner we had kids chicken which was a thin tender that was over fried so more like rubber. The kids shrimp was alright, I would for sure do that over the kids chicken, but they didn't get finished either. The hush puppies were also over fried, I was so excited to try them but the outside and most of the inside was just pure grease fry and just a tiny spot in the middle was still breading, I've literally never seen a hush puppy like it. I was so sad lol. I had a side of blackened shrimp that had good flavor but the shrimp were over cooked and again sort of rubbery. My son had the shrimp poboy, there was no sauce on it, sandwich was so dry he ended up picking off the shrimp and eating them alone. He did not care for the bread they used either which surprised me because he is a carbaholic with a bread obsession. I should have looked at photos before ordering the onion rings. I'm sure some people love the thick cut so it's a total preference thing but the for us no one cared for them. It was cool to see them we were all like whoah! But after 1-2 bites each we were all like meh. The onion slices inside was like eating an apple, they were so thick and now possibly under fried so was like eating a breaded raw onion. After tip I think we spent $140 and I was just disgusted. We've been to the island maybe 6 times and this was by far the worst meal we've had. I was so sad we "wasted" a meal on our trip, there are so many places to eat here. We've driven by the spot for 3-4 years and always wanted to try so what a disappoint. 1 star for food, 5 stars for service, so a 2 star review.
