Nate from Illuminate Pro Electric was totally different. As I elaborate below, Nate was a game changer. He was responsive; he showed up when he said he would; his rate was more than reasonable. ILLUMINATE PRO ELECTRIC Nate is an experienced licensed electrician (of course, insured and bonded). I highly recommend you to go to his website and read about his business. One thing to keep in mind, as mentioned on the website, he is the owner and the operator (i.e., no employees). So, he may or may not be available (when you need his service). I was lucky. I sent him a message through his website. Nate responded to me the same day, and it just so happened that he was available for the type/size of job I needed help with. COMMUNICATION Very responsive. After the initial message I sent to him, we exchanged a couple of emails and texts back and forth. As it turned out, he was available next day, and he did show up at the time he promised. It worked out great for me, but please have a realistic expectation as he has to do everything for his business. JOB PERFORMED Nate moved the 220v outlet behind the stove for me. He had to cut part of the wall, but he fixed the wall too. I cannot be happier with his work. COST His hourly rate was more than reasonable. He had to go out to get material to fix the wall, but he did not charge me for the time to go get the material. The total amount I paid (hourly labor and parts) was clearly lower than a few other bids I had received from other companies in town. Billing was easy and transparent. He emailed me an invoice with a link for payment. I just used my credit card. No extra fees or anything. His invoice was itemized (i.e., materials used and their costs along with his hourly rate). FINAL WORDS I appreciate Nate's professionalism. He is not only an experienced electrician but has a very high work ethics. He is upfront and transparent. He's professional, but not an uptight way. He's actually very personable. It was clear to me that he was eager to help me. When a homeowner is looking for a contractor, whether an electrician or a plumber, we are stressed out. Nate completely took the stress out of my stressful situation. He responded very quickly. We told him we wanted an outdoor dawn to dusk security light installed but really didnt know what options we had. Nate explained what could be done , gave us suggestions as to what he thought was best and gave us a very reasonable bid. He explained his work situation to us and was able to complete the job, as well as replacing an indoor fixture, in a very timely manner. In addition to doing an excellent job he was kind enough to tell us he would bill our home warranty policy for a portion of the work he performed. This saved us over 100 dollars. I highly recommend using their services. I met with Eric personally to discuss my project and received a prompt and thorough estimate. The work was completed on schedule, they attended to every detail with precision and accuracy, plus they stayed on budget with the original estimate. Bensons really went above and beyond my expectations of customer service. Throughout our project I had questions and needed Bensons to coordinate with other contractors and they were always responsive to my needs and worked well with the other contractors to make sure that my whole renovation came together to my exact specifications. I had complete confidence that Eric and his crew would get the job done right, and that was confirmed on my final walkthrough with the City of Bellingham permit inspector. The entire process of getting an estimate took 2 business days. I requested an estimate via Yelp Sunday afternoon and received their bid Tuesday afternoon. I decided not to go with Bode's Electric because their estimate was on the higher side among the several estimates I received. In fact, their estimate along with a few others were significantly higher than a couple of bids from other companies in town (more than double). Note: Although they are listed as different companies, Bode's and West Mechanical appear to be the same company. We hired Dan Wilcox to do the electrical work for our kitchen renovation in November 2022. I…read morebelieve he started the work on November 19th. We paid 80% ($2704.80) of the invoice after the first stage of the work was complete. Since then he has returned on two occasions to continue the work, however it remains incomplete and our kitchen pot light switches are wired incorrectly. When you flip the switch, some lights turn off and other lights turn on. Other lights flicker badly. He has crossed the circuits somewhere so that three different switches are controlling lights that should be controlled by only one switch, which leads them to turn lights on and off simultaneously. I'm concerned this is a fire hazard. Some of the pot lights are also not secure to the ceiling and are sagging down. He also was supposed to finish our above the stove vent so it vents to the outside. He has left it venting into our attic. I'm very concerned this is a fire hazard in our home and do not feel safe using our stove or kitchen lights with three kids at home. He said he would be here January 3rd to fix the mess of a job he did but never showed up and is now ignoring phone calls from both myself and our contractor. He will not return messages or texts, even though I can see he has read them. He has taken our money and abandoned the job. Also totally botched the work that he did complete.
