Handcrafted Wooden Cutting Boards with Turquoise inlay are my primary items. As a secondary offering I create a line of handcrafted wooden gifts designed primarily for the kitchen. To include salt cellars, salt & pepper mills, several styles of cheese knives, chip & dip serving trays, carving knife & fork sets & various sizes & styles of hand turned wooden bowls. Almost all of my work is created using Texas Honey Mesquite Wood which is enhanced & hi-lighted through the application of crushed Sleeping Beauty Turquoise.
History
Established in 2003.
Started up as a "keep myself busy" hobby, after retiring from 30 years in the retail business, my little workshop has grown past the "hobby" stage. I work almost exclusively with Mesquite Wood & have spent several years developing stone inlay techniques which I incorporate into the creation of my products. For the last few years I have used Sleeping Beauty Turquoise as my inlay stone of choice. Handcrafted Wooden Cutting Boards are my specialty, but I am constantly adding new items. Just a few of which are; Salt & Pepper Mills, Salt Cellars, cheese knives, hand turned wooden bowls & several other kitchen related items. I have been selling on the internet for over 10 years now, was active in a co-op art gallery in Sedona, AZ. for several years, am currently a Sat. vendor at the local Farmer's Market here in Las Cruces, NM., have been mentioned in several write-ups about my work & have a small article featuring one of my items in the May/June addition of "Cowboys & Indians Magazine."
Meet the Business Owner: Frank B.
Born & raised in Southern Calif., father of 5 daughters, I retired from the retail industry after 30 years, bought a half acre in the Village of Oak, AZ., 7 built my own retirement residence. Plagued by constant harassment from my daughters about not being "active" enough, I began working with wood, just as a hobby...I believe that my interest in this came from my Father, who was a highly skilled building contractor, with Old World German skills & work ethics & my Mother, who was skilled at every craft from oil painting to weaving pine needle baskets. I have not taken any formal classes, but rather, learned my craft through the old fashioned method of trial and error, lots of error & several cuts & bruises, as well. I don't wholesale & only make what I can sell, but business has been good & I'd have to say that my products & service has been about 99% well received.
