They also remember your name and greet you as if you're one of their own members. The culture of this box is great. Very warm, encouraging, and upbeat. The members introduce themselves, make an effort to get to know you, cheer you on, and are super nice. It's also maintained very well and super clean! The workouts are great. They encourage mobility with ROMWOD's every Wednesday, camaraderie with PartnerWOD's, and strength training with barbell driven movements in metcons. Buyer Beware -- Read the Billing Terms Carefully…read more First, I want to say that SPENGA has an awesome workout. The instructors are great, the staff is friendly, and I genuinely enjoyed going to the gym. Unfortunately, billing transparency is the reason I canceled my membership. When you enroll, they explain that payments are made every 28 days (four weeks). What I don't feel is clearly explained verbally is that a 28-day billing cycle results in 13 payments over a 12-month period, rather than the 12 payments you would have with traditional monthly billing. That means the actual annual cost is higher than what many people may initially perceive when they hear a monthly membership price. Yes, the 28-day billing cycle is stated in the contract, and I acknowledge that I should have read the agreement more carefully. However, I believe this is something that should be clearly explained upfront by the GM whom I was working with, or sales staff so customers fully understand the financial commitment before enrolling. I have worked in sales myself, and I understand that sales are sales. But I also believe transparency is important when you're asking someone to commit to a membership. For me, the issue isn't the workout or the people, I actually really liked both. It's the lack of transparency around the billing structure. In my opinion, that was enough for me to cancel and take my business elsewhere. Aside from no one calling back to explain this and having a staff member, telling me it's part of my contract. Poor customer service. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. If you're considering joining, my advice is simple: ask specifically how often you'll be charged and how many payments you'll make in a full year. If 13 payments instead of 12 doesn't bother you, that's completely fine. But if it matters to you, make sure you understand the billing cycle and total annual cost before signing up. Buyer beware, read the contract, and ask questions.
