I am visiting from out of town this week and I needed a place to work out....b/c all I do is eat when I'm in Memphis. I just happened to find UFK online via martial arts search and I'm glad that I did. They just moved to a new location and the facility is very nice. I've been taking the kickboxing classes every day this week and...YES!! I'M SORE! The lactic acid buildup is fabulous. The bags that they use are muay thai bags - so they're VERY solid/hard....great for conditioning the shins (if you plan on using them as lethal weapons). Every class I've taken this week has been different - Tony and John shake things up, keep it interesting, keep you moving....and if you're not soaked by the end of class, you're slacking. They also do personal training and other martial arts. Highly recommended.

I honestly didn't really know what to expect, other than being told "It's a workout in a sauna..." Let me just say that I got my butt absolutely kicked at Hotworx! We did pilates and then a 15 min stationary bike session....all inside of a 130° infrared room. I felt so incredibly good afterwards that I realized I 100% needed to add this to my routine when I get back home. I highly suggest that everyone who is thinking about giving Hotworx a try stops thinking about it and does it! You will not be disappointed! I also just wanted to give a shout-out to Riley* (hope I spelled her name correctly) who was absolutely amazing! She got me all set up, was so beyond thoughtful, and really made me feel super comfortable despite being a noob to the whole experience. I mean she heard some guy from Los Angeles was coming in and changed the music so I didn't have to listen to country while we worked out LOL. People who go above and beyond, like Riley did, are the ones in this life who deserve tons of recognition for the high quality humans that they are. Thank you, again!! The sauna is now closed and I went to an employee, Sam, and began expressing my concerns to the constant issues with the sauna. End of it Sam argued, didn't care and said it is my choice to be a member and I could find somewhere else. Sam doesn't understand I do my chemo treatment Monday afternoon and my routine includes coming to the gym for mind body and spirt before the infusion center. This is not about a sauna thing this is about a routine I've been doing for a year and some employee with zero care. Sam didn't know and doesn't care because Sam is all about Sam. Anyway end of the day Sam is right. I can choose any gym and just start a new Monday routine there. Please don't hire anymore like Sam. I just spoke to the manager who took time to hear me. Thank you for listening and hearing my words. She also shared with me her father's journey and hers as a caregiver. Real convo with a caring professional. She ended up throwing up a few times. We got so much attitude and nasty looks from a couple of the instructors there. Kendyll was definitely the most rude. Might be a good place to go if you're already slim or fit. Not a great place to go for people like me, people who just got back into working out. I experienced an extremely unwelcoming culture to plus size people which is odd for a gym. At first I thought maybe I was imagining the rudeness being directed towards us but by the end of the event it was clear. Additionally, they took sooo many photos throughout the event of us working out. Me and my friend were literally the only people excluded from the photos they posted. The only photo I was in was a group photo. SHED reported my review to Yelp and they took down my original review citing that I wasn't actually at this event. I'm posting a PHOTO that matches my Yelp photo of myself at this event. There were snacks and drinks (smoothie king & Celsius) inside but that doesn't make up for the treatment. I also reported this to lululemon who sent me a personal apology to my email so shout out to them.
