While I've never had any actual upholstery work done by Fabrics and Findings, I'm hoping to in the near future. My mother and I visited recently (our first visit in 18 years! We learned the upholstery department of the store ended up taking over a couple years ago when the original owners of the older store had financial difficulties and closed) and, while we found the store to be quite different from what we remembered (which, after 18 years, seems inevitable), the variety of fabrics on display, in sample books, and generally organized throughout the store was quite impressive. There was a member of the staff working the day of our visit who answered all my mothers questions about reupholstering an old chair that's been in our family for years. He even mentioned that if we emailed a photo of the chair in question then he could give an estimate for the re-upholstery work (price, timing, etc). He also brought out several sample books for my mother during the course of our visit, as he knew exactly where sample books for certain specific fabric types of interest to my mother... always helpful! While we originally expected the store of old (multiple levels, and also full of random sewing materials - from buttons to zippers an all sorts of clothing-related fabric), we were still quite appreciative of all the help we received while at this store. For someone in interior design, or a DIYer, it'd be somewhere to spend WAY more time than my mother or I did. TL;DR If I was more crafty, or better with fabrics, I'd be spending tons of time here. Can't speak to their upholstery work in terms of quality, but the staff person we spoke with while visiting was wonderfully helpful. read more

Recently had a chair reupholstered, had a couple done in the past as well. Apparently I am rough on chairs! lol Anyway, located in the city, easy parking out front, staff are nice enough, great selection, and priced right. What I really like about this store is back when I first started looking for someone to help me out, this was the only place that returned my calls and explained the process to me. Can't get any better. Very personable. If you need furniture reupholstered, or throw pillows (new to me) this is a great place to go! They have a great selection of fabrics and a knowledgeable, friendly and patient staff. They Made me feel special and understood all the details of my varied projects. The cost is in line and the delivery not too long. They had furniture they were recovering too. Don't throw it away, have it recovered. OMG!! THEY'RE BACK!!! Stopped by the old Fabrics and Findings found that they are open again. At last I can get my muslin cloth and canvas again. The store has been taken over by the upholstery department and the layout is much better. They sell a lot of pottery, I know strange right? But on a "my grandmother used to work there" level it really works. LOL. The best part of the store is that everything is laid out, no need to dig around. I like that! I still miss the multi-level old place, but I guess I can get used to that. read more

This is a great store with plenty of offerings for the interior designer, upholsterer or DIY-er. They have a huge assortment of fabrics, reupholstery supplies, foam, Dacron, nailheads, etc. This store offers the best choice of upholstery-grade fabrics I've found in all of Rochester! It's also family run. There's a gentleman who was very helpful in searching for the right fabric for me and his cousins run the shop in the back where you can have items reupholstered. They even offer a la carte services for someone like myself who doesn't have all the materials/equipment to do every types of upholstery. For example, you can bring in your choice of fabric and they will sew a welt for you at $3/yd. They even offer upholstery classes where you can bring in a project and they will teach you how to reupholster the item, whatever it may be (and from what I hear, they don't limit your project). The store is very cozy and the class sounded pretty great for those who want to learn! They told me new classes will be starting in the Spring after they move to their new location (same building, just bigger space next door). read more

Just had 3 couch cushions re-foamed, and WOW! Less than 24 hour turn around and they are FANTASTIC! My couch looks BRAND NEW! When I called to get information, I was given honest information, for example fees to have it done for me versus DIY and expected results, without feeling pressured to buy or proceed a certain way. As prior, the service was fast, and the people were friendly. All in all, not a cheap process, but a lot less money and headache than a new couch! read more

I needed a small piece of foam cut, not only did Jeremy Coules the owner cut it to size, in a matter of seconds, but he glued it on the surface I was needing to cover. Very disappointed. Had a chair recovered did a fanatical job. Found the matching ottoman in the attic took that in. Picked it up last week. It was done incorrectly they left the piping off so it doesn't match the chair. Was supposed to be a special got no discount. Called and emailed them. Call of course went to voice mail. It has been 5 days and no word back from them. Never thought they would be this unprofessional. read more

Fabrics and Findings did a wonderful job re-upholstering and refurbishing my grandmother's sofa. Far exceeded expectations! Price was consistent with others in the area, but so much easier and friendlier to work with. I was able to talk directly to the person who was going to do the upholstery and discussed direction of fabric and every detail I had in mind.......and he was happy to have the conversation! Pick up and delivery was so prompt you could set your clock by the time they had promised. Even moved a couch to another part of the house to make room for the pieces they were delivering.
