Beautiful chaos! I was in need of a new hobby and Dan's Crafts and things was prepped and ready to take care of me. This store is right near my house and has...everything. Figures, puzzles, knitting, scrapbooking, games, nostalgia...truly everything you could need to start your next project! I started my first knitting project, well, I started attempting to knit I guess. I grabbed a kit to make my dog a sweater and some yarn. So far, I've been learning from a mix of the book and some youtube videos, which has been working nicely...ish :) The store itself is a little stuffy and really overwhelms me, but staff is good about just sending you to where you need to go. A great way to spend an afternoon daydreaming about gorgeous things to create!

Love this craft store! 100% recommend over a Michaels or JoAnn's. There's a lot packed into this store! Crafts, model trains, RC cars, toys, games, miniatures and more. Reasonable prices. EXCELLENT customer service. They've really taken their time to explain different options for our RC boats and we're able to look up parts if they didn't have it in stock. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't.

Extraordinary service! As my granddaughter exclaimed, "Everyone here is SO nice." Much much more than models; really worth exploring. 5stars

Potential students beware. It seems to be all about the money!…read more I registered and paid for a stained-glass class at Studio 34 through the Rochester Brainery for $295. The class was supposed to have been taught by a world-renowned glass artist, and the class description read that it included all the glass and all materials except for protective eyewear. On the first day of class, the instructor, who was not the professional glass artist listed in the course description, had us look through bins of glass scraps after we'd decided on a pre-approved design. While I found some pieces I could use, I could not find green or blue glass that matched and/or were large enough for the design. The instructor looked too, couldn't find any, then brought out some sheets of glass for me to choose from. At no point was there a mention of having to pay more for the glass. When I showed up the following week, I was told that I had to pay for the green and blue glass I'd picked out the week before. I objected, and the instructor said I had to call the owner, who said that the bins had copious amounts of glass for the projects. They did not. They were inadequately stocked. I was not the only one having difficulty finding glass. Every student had trouble. The owner said that my options were to pay for the glass or take a refund for the class. I will not be forced into paying for glass that was supposed to be included in the class cost so I took the refund. If there was an additional cost to the glass, that should have been said upfront when the sheets were brought out by the instructor. And it turns out that this class does not even provide the finishing piece so we couldn't actually hang our stained-glass projects. We could only leanthem against a window. The finishing piece is part of another class and this was not mentioned in the course description. Another class and more money to finish one piece. When a course description says we're going to be instructed by a glass master, I expect that it will be unless I'm notified in advance that it's not the case and offered a chance to opt-out at that time. When a course description says the class includes the materials, I expect to be able to find glass that I can use to create an integrated piece, rather than random scraps that result in a mismatched mess. The only other option offered was to open my wallet and pay more.

The studio is located on the second floor of a multifunctional historical building in the Neighborhood of the Arts. When you come to the studio don't be afraid to knock on the door... just walk in. They keep the door closed because of the a breeze that can sometimes effect the art work going on inside. All of the staff members I met were super friendly and professional. I came to the studio with no experience in any of the art they offered and absolute no knowledge. Marilynne and her instructors are excellent teachers and truly care to make your experience special. The class size I sat in on was a glass fusion class. If you don't know what that is(which I didn't before I stopped in) it's where you cut colored pieces of class and place them on a big piece of glass. Once you get your desired arrangement it then gets put in a furnace and melts into an awesome piece of art, just the way you arranged it. The class was a small class size, 4 people total. The instructor gave the students great instruction, then let them get creative. She offered pointers and answered questions along the way. I look forward to signing up for some of the hot glass classes. Also, it's important to note that Studio 34 repairs jewelry. So if you have a favorite piece that needs mending whether its glass, beads, or metal...stop in here!

Parkleigh has saved my life by stocking all the gifts I forgot to get, didn't want to cart all the way to Western New York, or didn't even know I wanted to buy. They have something for everyone, and I truly mean that. If you can't find a gift for someone here, it's because that person doesn't like anything at all. They've got chocolates of all kinds, tea and coffee ground to order (which I wish I'd known before I'd bought mine elsewhere), beauty products, stuffed animals, coasters, books, flasks, camping gear, cookware, Bills gear, candy, and of course, socks, cards, mugs, shirts, hats, and anything else you could want with clever and funny little sayings. Seriously, so many socks. I've never seen this many socks that talk about drinking wine. But if that's something you need in your life, get over to Parkleigh. Also, the staff is super sweet and helpful.

What keeps drawing us back is the incredible mix they've perfected-- everything from sentimental to silly, practical to indulgent, fragrant to delicious. Their selection spans greeting cards, gourmet chocolates, coffees and teas, local Rochester items, MacKenzie‑Childs, jewelry, toys, and an ever‑changing rotation of gifts from both local and international makers. The store itself is beautiful, with exposed brick, hardwood floors, original tin ceilings, and eye‑catching displays that make wandering the aisles feel like opening a present. What we love most is that there is always something new, fun, or beautiful to explore, no matter how many times we visit. After two decades, we're still excited to walk through the door, and we know we'll keep coming back for many years to come.

My fiance and I met up with…read moretwo friends for a coffee date on MLK day, so it was a bit more crowded than usual with the holiday. With a party of 4 it was a little tough to get a table but we eventually snagged one on the first floor. We got hot oat milk matcha lattes. My only other experience with matcha was at Happy Earth Tea which set the bar high, and I was very satisfied with the matcha flavor in our Siren lattes too. I ended up ordering a second one -- pricey but worth it. There's more seating upstairs as well, but the vibe is much quieter on the second floor than it is downstairs. I'm not sure if that's always the case, or if it just happened to be that day that more people brought work/study to that area of the shop. So if you're looking for a place to talk, your mileage may vary. Plenty of bathrooms on each floor. I will have to return again to give the book selection a better assessment, but overall the selection was varied and full enough for a shop its size. Overall this is a fun place to take a friend for coffee or for a solo date with a book. I'll definitely be back.

I've had this place on my "to try" list since then opened, so decided it was the perfect time to stop. Unfortunately, it just didn't end up appealing to me in the way I had hoped. While there are some books in the downstairs part of the store, the majority of them are upstairs. Shopping the downstairs shelves is a bit awkward because there are tables/chairs for people enjoying their goodies from the cafe... so you're maneuvering around them while trying to look at the books available for sale on the shelves. It feels like you're disrupting people. While shopping upstairs, there are a variety of smaller book sections, as well as desks, an area for kids (with bean bags), and a corner seating area for two. While I was wandering the upstairs, there was someone loudly using their phone to practice Duolingo... which, while I appreciate the desire to learn another language, would really put me off wanting to use any of the reading or work spaces upstairs. Kinda ruined the vibe. They had some cute stickers and accessories for sale on the 2nd floor, but i didn't end up getting of them because I told myself I would only purchase them if I could find at least one book to buy... and I just didn't. Anyone who knows me would tell you that it's pretty much impossible for me to not find a book of interest... but I just didn't find anything that struck me... so no books, no stickers, no reading accessories. I wandered back downstairs and thought I'd have better luck with something from the cafe, but alas... no. The cafe menu seemed pretty limited, and there were basically no pastries left (just before 2pm on a Monday). The drink that I did end up trying (their special available for that day) wasn't especially memorable either, unfortunately. TL;DR Wanted to love The Siren and The Sea, but it just didn't do it for me... might be a nice workspace, and has a generally welcoming vibe, but I actually left *without buying any books* & the cafe aspect felt very generic, unfortunately. :(
