After traveling to the depths of Barrington Place Shops, I finally located this little knit shop…read more My first impression of the place was, "really?" I was unimpressed by the lack of professionalism - it's supposed to be a store, not a messy living room. As I browse the haphazardly displayed yarns, there was a smallish stock of commercial yarns, at least compared to a regular knit shop. However, there was also a separate room that housed a messy and somewhat sparse display of hand-dyed and/or hand spun specialty yarn. Throughout the store, there were also displays of unique, creativce hand knit accessories for sale, made by the owner. I also couldn't complain about the prices, and I ended up buying a skein of brown-red wool (labeled only as 'Nova Scotia wool') for five bucks. I was able to pay by debit, after it was fished out of two feet of paper and other debris visible behind the counter. I think this could be a really neat store if the shop owner just made things more professional. It would inspire much more confidence in the products if that level was higher.

I genuinely find it bewildering that the staff here don't instantly recognize me and let out a hushed, "Father's home..." as I walk in the door. I find myself in this store very often. Now, part of this is because I inherited a love for all things kitchen. Perhaps the greatest similarity between me and my mother is the fact that we both have an appliance or tool for pretty much any food thing you can think of. Need to crack and separate an egg at the same time, while keeping your hands clean? I've got you covered. Want to process a small amount of frozen banana slices to make ice cream? Use my mini food processor. (Use my regular food processor for larger batches.) Baking some cookies? Don't worry, I have enough Silpats for you to bake continuously for about five months. It should be obvious that a store like this is a clear danger to my bank account. Unfortunately, I have a car and no self-control. I should get to the actual review part of this: Come here if you're looking to get something for your home and don't mind paying a bit extra for it to not be Zellers quality. A dish rack at BBB, for example, can run between $18 and $80. (Which one do you think I own?) Come here if you're looking for some of the most random crap for your house that you had no idea was an absolute necessity. Like the cutting board that folds up a bit to make transferring chopped up veggies easier! Come here if you have some free time and love to fantasize about owning everything and how much better your life would be if you took the plunge and bought that $100 shower caddy. (THINK OF THE EXTRA SOAP SPACE!) Also, come here if you already went to Home Outfitters and they didn't have what you want. They're right across the street and you never know, right? Searching for a gift for my BF daughter I knew what I wanted to get her. Where she likes crafts I went and searches for an outdoor patio stone so that she could make. Many to chose from I like the flower on which came into a pre packages kit ready to go for $29.99. There are isles and isle of stuff half of which I have no idea what to do with it. Picture frames, beads for making jewelry and very nicely laid out. The staff are very helpful and will take the time to explain to you what the product requires. Oh and they as well have Birthday Parties at Michael's which is a fantastic idea.

Second, I don't have the patience for confusing big box stores where everything is tremendously difficult to find. Third, I don't like being surrounded by other shoppers who so clearly do not have the same issues as I do as mentioned in points one and two. Simply put, Michael's is not for me and I have no business reviewing its products, service or experience. Still, I will for the sake of prepping non-crafters like myself for what they should expect when dragged here by handy friends, or accidentally coming to in aisle four after some strange Hangover-style bender. What you need to know is that for crafters, everything about Michael's makes sense which is probably why you're so confused and disoriented. It's not SUPPOSED to make sense to mere mortals like you and I. Just go with it, ask for help, and get out rather than try to figure it out on your own and lose three hours of your life. Don't be a hero. You should probably also know that there's always some cray-cray sale going on that again will not make any sense to you. But don't worry, just buy what you went in for and the helpful staff at the cash will find ways to save you money so you don't have to. This should also be a note to not even bother trying to figure out how much money you're about to spend before you go up to the cash. Lastly, they have more things than you will ever need or even begin to understand. Remember above all else, keep your eye on the prize, know what you're looking for, and commit to your plan of craftification before you enter. Otherwise you're going to end up thinking that your bristol board and cut-outs project should actually be a paint, canvas and pottery ordeal from which you will never recover.

I felt I spent too much money on it and wasn't sure I liked the pattern up against my wall when I got home. Anyways, apparently their return policy is 7 days because on the 8th day, I tried to return this (never used) and I was shut down. They literally hung up on me when I called. I was devistated by the lack of customer service. It was almost as if she was just looking for my sale....once she got it, I didn't matter. I will never shop this store again!

I have always received the best service, best quality of material as well. They have been very upfront with me about their return policy so it encouraged me to take the goods home to make sure I'm happy with it and at times I have had to return or exchange things and they have always been great. I'm moving again this weekend and will head there in the next day or so and finish my new home with their stuff!!
