Great place with super friendly staff - they really go out of their way to help! They have a nice selection of yarns and knitting tools (given the size of the shop, which is fairly small). The price for certain items can hit extreme levels (especially for things like kits), but for most things the cost hovers just a bit above average. I used to really love this shop, it was my go-to after another online shop closed. For the past 2+ years, I've always purchased enough, by far, to earn free shipping, but I am always charged shipping. I contacted customer service Live Chat during one order to let them know, and I was told to leave a message in the "order notes" box saying I should be refunded the cost of my shipping. I was charged for shipping. On the next order, I did the same thing asking Live Chat for help, explaining the note on the last order didn't keep me from getting charged for shipping. I was kindly told to do the same thing again and did, only to be charged for shipping, and not refunded, again. The shipping charges have been more than WEBS and EatSleepKnit, so I would recommend those shops over FabYarns now since you will receive any discounts as advertised from those shops. read more

***BUYER BEWARE*** Saw Gorgeous Rosewood Zen Knitting Needles On Line There Last Year. Thought I would buy all the Sizes Double Points they carried in size 5 inch and 7 inch also all the sizes of Straight Zen Needles plus complete set of all the sizes and cords of the Zen Circular Needles. This was on three different orders. I had total of 9 sizes of different sizes of Zen Needles and Cords Backordered since April 2020. Been contacting them since July 2020. Ask for refund in November 2020 Judy the owner said she would give the refund for my backorders and did not need the three order #s. The refund did not happen. Contacted the store in December 2020 and several times in 2021. It has been over a year for these backorders and still no refund. It is now a year I have had these Backorders. Did a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in NY still no refund. This yarn store is still taking purchases online and in her store. read more

I ordered size 19 Addi Click Turbo tips to use with the Addi interchangeable set I had bought from this seller before. When I got them I found out these tips are much shorter than the ones in the set, so short that one has about 2" to hold onto when trying to knit with them. I just couldn't used them so I called to ask for a refund. I have the invoice, the tips are in perfect condition but unfortunately I didn't keep the "original packaging" which was nothing more than a cellophane bag with a piece of paper from Addi inside. I offered to have them repackaged and send them back at my expense. They wouldn't accept the return. Needless to say this will be my second and last purchase from this seller, there are far more customer friendly businesses to buy from online. read more

Fabulous Yarn saved my life. Ok, I'm being dramatic. But I was halfway through a project and ran out of a color. First I called up all the local guys--no dice. I had to do something I've never done before...order yarn online. I went to Ravelry and about 50 vendors carried the given colorway I needed and something magical happened when I clicked on Fabulous Yarns. First off, they had my yarn in stock, had awesome prices , and offered a volume discount. This could be problematic. I just ordered my one skein for my first go around, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a wonky nasty skein or something. It was already nearly $2.00 off the price I paid at my local yarn store, so I was a little skeptical. They processed my order fast, gave me a tracking number, and I stalked that package all the way from Tivoli (wherever that blessed town may be). Upon arriving in the mail, it was lovingly wrapped in tissue and contained a coupon for my next purchase. You know me too well Fabulous Yarns and I haven't even stepped in your doors! read more

Fabulous Yarn has a wide range of high-end luxury yarns. Most of the yarns in this shop come with Tivoli and Rhinebeck prices. $$$$ The staff was getting ready for Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool, so everything was a little discombobulated. I can't account for the relative unfriendliness and brusque attitude, though. For the prices they are asking, I would expect excellent customer service, including a better POS system. I was rung up with an estimated total, since they couldn't get their ipad system to work. Neither of the yarns I bought were in the inventory, so they had to go to the back to figure out how much each was and shout it back to the clerk at the front of the store. None of the yarns on display have a price on them, and there is no list of prices anywhere. This made shopping a bit of a disappointment for me, since I clearly chose a really expensive yarn on display only to find out it was nowhere near my budget. The space is very cute and I'm sure they are more organized (and maybe less rude?) on non-Sheep and Wool days, but I wouldn't use this shop as my LYS, although I loved their vast collection of madelinetosh. read more

This company has a nice site and great deals, but they do not take care to match yarns or give good customer service at all after they take your money for payment. They could care less and will tell you that you can have a return of 50% on what you just spent 100% on, for a mistake for which they were responsible. They ignore emails trying to wait until the one month return date has passed, which is what they did to me. They are just not good business people at all. Never again. Don't waste your time and money here. Find a place that actually cares about the customer. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of yarn from many other places. Stay away, go where you can look at what you are getting before you get ripped off like I did. read more

I use to be a devoted customer but that has ended. Their focus is internet not retail in the shop. And even with internet sales I recently ordered a "kit", expensive yarn shoved into a mailing bag. I had to search to find the pattern link. The whole presentation lacked in any hint of artist presentation or imagination. I attempted to email and share my input , as a long-standing customer and in hopes it would be met with some sort of reception......it took a long while for a response and when they did it was simply defensive. I find their website not the most user friendly. I am bidding both internet and retail store goodbye. Found this place this weekend. Have been in upstate New York a few times, for Sheep & Wool festivals, and a few other things, and had never seen, or heard of, Fabulous Yarns. This time, on our drive back from the antique motorcycle show and swap meet, my DH noticed a tiny road side sign advertising this store, and we figured, might as well check it out we don't get here often. I am SO glad we did. Tiny little shop, tucked away on a quaint little street. Adorable from the outside. Show room is small, but so well organized and with such gorgeous, pretty, pettable yarns. The two women working there were both great. The first checked in quickly and then gave us time to browse and investigate without feeling like we were a bother, or watching over our shoulder. I find that when I walk into a yarn shop, not looking like a "yarny", I sometimes get treated poorly; this particular day I was DEFINITELY dressed for an outdoor motorcycle show. However, they still treated me incredibly well. I found myself gravitating to all my old favorites, but they had SO many, really gorgeous yarns, that I had never gotten to touch or try before. I ended up talking myself into a GORGEOUS Art yarns shawl kit with amazing jewel tones. As well as a really amazing skein of Zen Garden serenity glitter sock. They were incredibly kind and accommodating as they checked me out as well. I will be highly recommending them to others, and probably shopping online with them as well. read more

Wool did not arrive, i reached out multiple times, excuses every time with their provider being late, etc. It is now mid-February, shop NEVER reached out to provide an update. The first time I ordered my package came within a few days. Just when I decided that this place is a reliable resource and made my second order, I was waiting for a week for it to be shipped. I tried calling multiple times, emailing and leaving messages on the website. Nothing. A week and a half passes and I get a response that they will get back to me about my order. I haven't heard from them for a few days. What a mess this is not a luxury yarn retailer but another scam. read more

If I could give it a negative number of stars I would. There is absolutely no customer service whatsoever. I ordered something almost 3 weeks ago. After 1 1/2 weeks of not hearing anything about shipping, I contacted them via chat. You cannot call the store because their mailbox is full and it automatically goes to voicemail. I was told the item is on order. When will it be in? I don't know, I will have the customer service people check and have them get back to you. Again, contacted them - There are no updated notes in your order. Again I contacted them, and no update. I then had them cancel the order. I had also placed an order with them a few months ago, and again, it took a few weeks to get the item shipped. There was more follow through on that order though. My special (expensive) order was delayed weeks with no explanation. I was pre-charged. When I inquired I was told it would be sent directly within the week with free shipping. Weeks more passed and I inquired again. Finally the yarn arrived and I was charged shipping. When I reminded the shipping charge was weong, she removed the shipping charge and then said she was sorry her resolution wasn't satisfactory. When I explained again the lack of communication and how i kept having to try to get info about my order - she said "Wow, it's just yarn". Which I guess explains the entire attitude. The online store is my favorite place to shop for yarns. The reason is the fabulous customer service I receive each and every time I place an order. The personal responses both before and after placing an order are so welcoming and informative. If a yarn is not in stock, I am informed immediately with an approximate date for shipping the entire order. One of my most memorable customer service conversations was about help with matching a yarn I already had in my stash. I ended up with 3 possibilities. The yarn I ended up ordering was a perfect compliment to the yarn I had thanks to wise advice I received. Another incident was that I had the yarn I wanted for the project I thought I wanted to knit. After trying several swatches of various patterns, I was stumped as were my knitting buddies as to what was the best pattern to show off the color way.
