I also was very skeptical of permanent makeup when I first considered it; researching and talking with people I knew that had work done, to find out what their experiences were. I would look carefully at work done on a number of various women, deciding what I liked . . or didn't of their work. Finally, I settled on the results of someone I happen to work with, admiring her "artwork". I inquired who had performed her work. Much to my surprise, her eyeliner was at least a couple of years old at the time. It seemed remarkable, how well it lasted as well as how precise and natural it looked, and not to "heavy on the ink" if you know what I mean. I had finally found the look I had been seeking. From there I proceeded to seek out this "artist". I first met Margie back in spring of 2004. At the time, she was working in a small shop in Renton, Wa. At the very first meeting with Margie, she made me feel totally comfortable. She thoroughly described the process and what to expect, answering all of my questions. She explained to me of the different types of permanent makeup she did; eyeliner, brows and even lips! As we decided what I was going to have done, I told her I was I was looking for natural looking eyeliner, light, not heavy looking; more like an enhancing line where my eyelashes attached. She took close-up photographs of my eyes, so when done, we could compare "before and after" pictures. I was so impressed with her results, that I shortly thereafter went back to have my brows and then my lips done. This was something I had not even considered, since it never occurred to me. With my brows, she "penciled" them out to show me what it would look like, before she started. When I was much younger, I had "over plucked" my brows, really leaving not much of anything . . so this was a huge change for me. I was THRILLED with the outcome. Years have passed and I continue to get complements of her work. Whenever anyone expresses any kind of interest in permanent makeup . . I refer them without hesitation to Margie. I want to offer them the opportunity of joy I have experienced. I get up everyday and don't have to fuss with eyeliner, penciling my brows, lipstick . . worry about smudging or smearing during the day. My eyes look so great, many times I don't even bother with mascara! Now, seven years later, following her continuing education and amazing career, I have gone in for a touchup with Margie. Margie truly is a perfect 10. I first visited Margie in 2007 after extensive research, visiting tattoo parlors, talking to several friends and coworkers who had gotten permanent makeup. I was nervous about the prospect of having Groucho Marx eyebrows, or brows that looked as if they'd been applied with a Sharpie, or brows that were poorly positioned, as I had seen on some of the women with whom I spoke prior to finally deciding to go with Margie. An added concern for me was my fear of keloiding. Having visited with a cosmetic dermatologist, I had been told that if I were ever to get any sort of tattoo that because I was prone to keloiding I should never get a tattoo in the "tattoo corridor," anywhere from the breasts up. My initial visit to Marjorie at Faces by Design was to "freshen up" brows and liner I'd had done elsewhere several years ago. I was immediately impressed with her extensive knowledge of the process, materials used, and attention to cleanliness and detail! She has her own shop and it's very comfortable, clean and professional.
