She has a nice selection of R&B music that is appropriate and her space is always clean, which is very important to me. If she receives a telephone call during my appointment , she usually keeps it very short. I appreciate that very much. I live south of Chicago; therefore, adjusting to prices was something I had to do, but she provides good services. The building needs some work; particularly in terms of the bathrooms. I have emphasized this to Renee because I think it is important for clients to feel comfortable in an environment; particularly when they are paying for services. Renee does not own the building but I have been assured this matter will be handled soon as the bathrooms are currently being remodeled. I have become very fond of Renee. She has found a great style that works for me. I usually wear interlocks as the style flatters my face. In addition, the style allows me minimal time to get ready in the morning. I am very busy and this style works for me. Renee educates me about my hair as well. She is always encouraging of my natural beauty and we have very interesting conversations about many topics. I got my first full sew-in weave from this place so keep in my mind I had no idea how it was supposed to be applied or how it was supposed to look when finished. I was introduced to a woman named Sunette and scheduled an appointment with her for the following day.I arrived at the shop bright and early,gave her my picture and crossed my fingers. Her first mistake in doing my hair was how she braided it. She braided my hair into a circle which cut off ALL access to my scalp. I told her beforehand that I had severe scalp issues but whatever. The second issue with her braiding is that when my hair grew out, it became pointy at the top and "grew away" from my scalp making it look like I had some sort of deformity that I was trying to cover up with oodles of hair. Not a good look. I bought Bohyme brand hair for this particular installation because if I'm going to have somebody else's hair all over my head, it needs to be REALLY REALLY nice hair. I bought 3 packs of hair for her to use,two packs for the main platinum blonde color and another pack of a darker blonde to cover up the tracks. She ended up using 2 1/2 packs of hair (which I now know is way too much for a little head like mine) and subsequently caused the daily catastrophe that was trying to detangle my hair every morning. When she was finished, I admit I thought it looked nice at the time. That night I went to get food and realized I could not see through my bangs. She had cut my bangs very straight and blunt and they ended at about the tip of my eyelashes. What the hell? I had to go to Hair Cuttery in Munster to get my bangs fixed because at that point I was just fed up with her. Over the next couple of weeks trying to style and keep my hair from tangling was a personal hell I never wish to go through again. I had layer after layer after layer after layer of hair on my head and there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell it would have ever stayed straight. So much for spending $300 on tangle-free hair. I hate the music this store plays. It is the most repetitive uppity music I have ever heard and it hurts my soul. The next place I went to get my hair done showed me all the ways she erred and I honestly believe this woman has NO business being in a hair salon. There's no way a professional hair-stylist would have ever installed or braided hair the way she did mine. Stay away from this fraud.

It required a debit/credit card to make the appointment. We waited in great anticipation [for little over a month] for our first professional mani/pedi of the Spring. Within a few days of the appointment, we each received three separate text messages requiring confirmations of our scheduled appointments. My mother's appointment was immediately following mine. We arrived [on time] and did not receive a greeting; from either of the two technicians. After sitting, in silence for ten minutes, I inquired which tech was the owner (with whom we'd scheduled). When British responded, I inquired when I could expect my service to begin. She implied that she was finishing her current client and soon disappeared into the back of the salon. When she returned [about five minutes later] she directed me to a chair (with freshly drawn water in front of it) & asked that I pick a color. About 27 minutes after the start of my appointment, my feet are finally in water. However, British still had not finished applying the gel overlay to the client at her station. After waiting another 13 minutes, with no further communication from British, I dried my feet and explained that I am willing to pay our cancellation fees rather than continue to wait. I shared my disappointment with her lack of professionalism, her mismanagement of time and the absence cordiality. Brittany looked up & acknowledged that I wouldn't be charged as I left. If you're running behind, you can communicate this using the information gathered by your scheduling tool. I was saddened that British hasn't chosen to call or text to attempt to reclaim potential clients. This speaks volumes! If the owner doesn't care enough to do better than that, there's little hope that her technicians will. As such, I will absolutely NOT recommend Buff n Blush Studio. If it weren't required, I wouldn't have given the singular star. However, I would be remiss if I didn't leave this well-deserved review.
