I started coming to the salon about 6 months ago to get Habit extensions. As a customer who had never had extensions prior to this, Nicole was extremely helpful and informative on the process and which extensions would work best with my hair. After my first appointment I fell in love with the habit extensions. Nicole did an amazing job of blending them in with my real hair to make them look natural and flawless. This was my first time at the salon. Since moving to the neighborhood last September, I've been searching for a new stylist and I think I just found my girl! Jen cut my hair and she is fantastic - highly recommend her. I got an angled bob cut and brow/lip wax. I did not have to wait for the appointment and Jen is super friendly, easy to chat with, plus did an excellent job. As the saying goes, you pay for what you get. After being a loyal customer at Hair Cuttery for almost 10 years it's time to part ways. I came across this place, one because I live by the Salon and secondly one of my very great friends is always bragging about this place. I felt it was time I checked it out. Well, it took me over a month to get scheduled in. I did not realize how busy they are. So that right there is a positive sign that this place is awesome. The place is very chic, I really fell in love with the decor and how everything is set-up. My hairstyles was Julia, she was friendly, professional and I felt that she became my therapist for a moment there. She has left me at awwwww!!! She did an awesome job on my hair. FABULOUS SALON!!! I came to Nicole Marie for my first time on Saturday and couldn't be any more in love with it. First off, the salon itself is chic, sexy, gorgeous...the vibe is everything. I was looking to have my hair styled for a wedding later that night so I made my appointment with Mary. She is a doll and did EXACTLY what I wanted! I broke up with my last hairdresser. She thought I was too picky over my hair. I set about trying to find another one using trusty Yelp and came across Nicole Marie. I booked an appointment with Julia and was very honest at our first meeting that yes, I am picky about my hair and it is beyond thick. Julia was A-OK with that and made great suggestions. Additionally, I am growing my hair out so it is in that yucky in-between phase and Julia has been trying to make it a lot more manageable for me. I have been to Julia twice and am very pleased with her work. I can't wait for my hair to grow out so I can have her do some fun things. Generally when I get my haircut, I don't like to talk a lot (I do that enough everywhere else) and like to sit and relax in the chair. Julia is polite and will talk (but not overly so) as she is really intent on doing her job (which I love) plus she is a perfectionist (which I also love). Nicole Marie Salon and the stylists there are the best on the southside. Nicole and her team are great at working together and making sure that every customer leaves looking and feeling beautiful! The atmosphere is fun, inviting, and relaxing. It's chic and modern but still gives a warm and friendly vibe. I love the set up because the stylists and clients all engage together and are able to talk and get to know one another. Nicole cuts and colors my hair regularly and I always get compliments! She knows my hair and I whole heartedly trust her to make me look my best. I've gotten blow outs by Jen and Julie and they've been great! Mary cuts and colors my moms hair, and she's never looked better. My mom has had the same style my whole life until I took her with me to the salon. All the stylist are amazing at what they do and are on top of all the new hair trends. Jen does my color and is always killing it! After a few years it was time to update my review. NM Salon is still the best in MTG. My hairstyle requires a precision cut, and Jen has it mastered. It's short, and Jen changes it up when needed to keep it fresh and timely. Although the target demographic for the salon is ladies in their 20's-30's, they are warm and welcoming to the over-40 crowd. I appreciate going to a salon and having my hairdresser keep my cut stylish without looking like I'm trying to be 25 again. Give Jen a try. First I will say the salon looks very fancy and high end. I made an appointment which had to get pushed to a later time. While there I felt extremely rushed beyond measure by Nicole whom did my hair. My hair was pulled so hard that my scalp feels bruised to touch for more than a week later. When I left I looked like a frizzy mess, as if the goal was to bring back the 60s poof. 2 times my daughter booked appointments with the owner, Nicole. 1st time we went and she looked at my daughters hair and said the appt would take longer for what she wanted because her hair is so long and she couldn't do it. Mind you, I have known Nicole for many, many years. Like 20. She knows all about how long my daughters hair is. And just today I woke to a message that she only has "15 minutes" to do my daughters hair!? I booked online like the message says on her business recording. So we did. No where on her booking site does it tell you what timing is needed or is allotted for the service you choose, so you believe when you book and walk away thinking your going to be taken care of, just as if you booked over the phone. Which they never answer anyway. We thought she was all set. She was excited that Nicole could do her color. My daughter needed her hair done before she starts her new job today & Nicole again, had us book and came back at the last minute saying she has "only 15 minutes". Now she has a whole free spot and I will never recommend such an unprofessional salon. Hey, she won't have time for you anyway after you book appts with her, plus who needs all of that self entitled, egotistical, fake energy touching your crown chakra energy anyway. read more

I went a few months ago for the first time and certainly will not be returning. I just forgot to write the review immediately. I went in with blonde balayaged hair. I wanted it dyed dark brown. The stylist lectured me about how hard it would be to get my hair back to blonde after dying it. (My hair is naturally dark, I'm well aware of the work it takes to get it lighter). She refused to do anything permanent on it and just wanted to tone it stating that I would be happy when I wanted it blonde again. I, again, told her that I understood the level of work and the expense it would take to get it blonde again but I wanted dark hair. She agreed but ended up only toning my hair with out telling me. It was a barely noticeable difference. I complained, she did it again but it was only slightly darker with much of the blonde showing through. I, again, explained that I wanted it dark with absolutely no blonde showing through. She did it a third time and and it was still dirty blonde. At that point I just left. I had to complain 3 times and still couldn't get what I had asked for. Which was a simple all over color. read more

Nicole Marie is an exceptional place to get your hair cut and colored. I used to cheap out and have friends or family cut my hair for years. Finally, Sarah convinced me to come in and get my hair cut professionally. She suggested some highlights, lift and face framing. Never in my life have I been complimented on how good I look. As a customer who never really has any idea of what would look good, Sarah manages to change and improve the look and health of my hair with each visit. I'm new to yelp, never felt a need to do this before.... But after the horrible experience I had at this salon I felt I needed to try it out if nothing more then to prevent anyone from going through what I did. I'm new to the area and heard that Nicole Marie was the place to go to get your hair done, and I should see the owner herself. Being a mother of 3 I don't have an easy schedule to work with but I find time for myself. So I called to make an appointment and got in a week after a called to get my hair highlighted. I was excited. That changed a few mins after I arrived. There was no one at the from desk to greet me and it took about 10 min till I was acknowledged. Then I had to wait 45 min till Nicole was ready to take me, I got a full head of highlights, not cut, she put the foils in then I processed for over an hour which I have never done before and then after I was shampooed had to wait another 45 min till I was blow dried. In the mean time I saw my stylist take about 4 smoke breaks. I walked out of there 4 1/2 hours later and spending $190 on I'm not sure what, I was told it was for extra color and a toner and I don't know what else but nothing we talked about. Needless to say I will not go back and I wouldn't recommend that anyone goes here. Also I had to give them one star to post but I would rather give them negative stars. read more
