I came armed with a visual library: three different photos to make sure we were on the same page. She nodded and said she understood completely. This, it turns out, was pure fiction. What I received is a botched job that bears zero resemblance to the request. Instead of a fade, I got a buzz cut. I now look like Ellen DeGeneres (which was not the goal) and it will take at least a month for this to grow out. But the real kicker wasn't just the haircut, it was the bizarre, surreal commentary that came with it. Mid-butchering, she told me that if I liked this haircut, I should take a picture of it so she could "recreate it next time." The irony was staggering. She couldn't work off the three clear photos I provided, but expected me to document her mistake for her own future reference? She followed this with the baffling philosophy that "it's always a risk" coming to a new place and that it "takes a couple haircuts to dial it in." This isn't a high-stakes relationship; it's a haircut. It is reasonable to expect basic competence the first time, especially for something so common. I left looking ridiculous and feeling ripped off. I will not be back to help her "dial it in." Avoid.

He's been getting the "mommy special" since then but I'm the first to admit it's been looking pretty goofy and we've been on the lookout for the right hair stylist to fix it. Liz was Amazing and the perfect person for the job. His hair looks great, but more than that we loved that that there are little toys to play with while we waited, comfortable ample seating for mom/grandma/sister to wait, cartoons on the TV, and most importantly a stylist with patient, calm and friendly energy. My kiddo who screamed through his entire first haircut was calm, quiet and perfectly still for the entire (very efficient!) cut. I cannot speak more highly of this place and would recommend it without hesitation for any kids in the area, especially ones who may have been nervous elsewhere!
