I miss the paper ads and coupons as well as personalized service from someone stationed in cosmetics, but this store has a lot going for it. All but one employee I have ever come across at this Walgreens have been extremely helpful and friendly. They open the second front register when the front starts to form a line. I've also checked out in the pharmacy before. Even though I'm not used to pharmacies which completely close during lunch, when they've been open, they have always been cheerfully useful regarding questions. This Walgreens location is also a local drop-off for FedEx. You just take your pre labeled packages to the photo department, and a Walgreens employee will take your info in order to text you a receipt with tracking. On my most recent visit, a most pleasant employee at the front saw me with a box and was kind enough to take care of it for me right them and there saving me time. I feel secure leaving a package in their care. This Walgreens store is always clean and fun to browse. Sometimes you can find some good deals on things like notebooks, saline nasal spray, stuffed animals, candy, locally themed t-shirts and sweatshirts... Their hair care and seasonal aisles are always worth a look. You can even find quite a few groceries here. Walgreens also still carries tobacco products unlike a certain competitor. If you like candy, take a look at what's in the display on the left side of the checkout counter for the featured specials of the month. Four stars mainly for customer service and cleanliness.

The staff are often welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The pharmacy is usually efficient and attentive. All and all, if one needs the services of a drug store; this facility is a solid option.

New people are welcoming, friendly, let you know they will be with you shortly if they are busy and I always get my prescriptions quickly. The pharmacist, Austin, and owner, Gib are great people. I picked up some prescriptions, and that was just fine. While I was there, I asked if I could get a flu shot. I was told I could. The pharmacist was an older woman, and it took her about 20 minutes to complete the paperwork. Once that was done, we went into a back room. The pharmacist had the syringe in her hand, had removed the needle cap, and was coming towards me. She had not used the alcohol swab. I told her to stop and asked about the swab. She said that it was behind her on the counter. And I said, Yes, but you are coming at me with the syringe, and you haven't used the swab yet. OK, so she used the swab. When she gave me the injection, I flinched a little. She pulled the needle out of my arm, had not given me the injection, and it hurt like the dickens. She asked if I wanted to try again; I said no. I asked her to void the paperwork and left. My arm hurt for 3 days. Not using the alcohol swab is a big concern, as I have immunity concerns. If I had developed an infection following the injection, the result could have been serious. I met one of the owners once, several years ago, and wanted to discuss this with him. I wanted to suggest that maybe the pharmacist should not be giving vaccines. I left 2 messages (with live people), 1 voicemail, and 1 message via the contact form on their website over a few weeks. I was never contacted. I'm disappointed because I like this business. But clearly, they can't meet my needs looking ahead. One star for my experience and the lack of follow-up.

As with all Walgreen's locations the prices here are a little higher and even more so on the alcohol and vitamin categories. I've really been impressed with the friendly employees here. They are sincere in their greetings and offers to assist. On my last visit I found a sale on body wash that was way cheaper than WalMart but I hadn't intended on getting more than two small items while there. The cosmetics employee asked if I needed a cart or basket and when I said a basket would be nice she ran to her register to get one. Truly focused on customer service. For the size of the store they pack a lot of selection in here. Everything is full and faced and well organized. Something other stores at this end of town can't say. Seasonal items seem fairly priced and the day after the season ends they offer deep discounts to move the rest of it out. After Christmas I found some real bargains and the quality of the merchandise was slightly better than other local stores. Currently they are full of Valentines stuff and have some great looking gifts. There is also an Easter section likely to grow after Valentines day. Having the only drive thru pharmacy in town is a huge benefit. Always better to keep the sick people out of the store, right? Even with prices slightly higher than the few stores in this area I'll be shopping here for the friendly employees and the fact I spend just 1/3 of the time getting the same stuff here as I would at the crazy and poorly stocked place across the street.

    Haven't started having problems with this location until recently. Employees having attitudes is…read moreusually something I let go, sometimes people just have bad days and I get it, but I've had two unpleasant experiences with a manager here twice now within the last couple of weeks. I didn't feel compelled to write a review until an incident today. As many know, theres a new craze surrounding the stuffed animals known as Squishmallows. Unfortunately, I find myself to be in that craze and absolutely adore them, and have for a couple years now. Around this time of year is when they start releasing the Halloween styles at retail locations and if you don't get one the day they put them out, then you might as well not bother because you wont get one at all. A couple weeks ago, I decided to check this walgreens for them. When I first walked in, I didn't see any out on the shelves but I asked an employee in the section if she knew if there were any in stock, since there were a whole bunch of boxes. She checked and there were, and she seemed pretty happy to help. Then the manager walks up, says to me and my partner very grumpily that they don't have any. However, the previous employee had literally started opening the box with the Squishmallows inside. We weren't trying to bother anyone, I always do my best to be polite and try not to interrupt anyone doing their current task. I would expect this attitude from a teenage employee... not someone who's at least in their early thirties and in a higher position. The employee put out all the new arrivals they had gotten and i got one squishmallow between my partner and i. One. Thats the back story for todays incident. On my way to do errands, we stopped in again just to see. We hadn't been having much luck but I thought I'd see anyway. To our luck, they had the one me and my sister in-law have been looking for! They had 6 in stock and we were originally only going to get two, but decided on three because we thought another friend might want one. We walk to the register and the cashier politely tells us that she can only do two per purchase, so we asked if it was okay if we could pay separately for them and she said that was fine. The manager was eavesdropping and told us no and he said we could only get two since we were together. We explained we were paying separate and his attitude kicked in. He said something along the lines of "No, you guys came in together. You're together. I told you guys this last time!" Huh?? We didn't argue, we put the third back. First off, i completely understand restricting purchase quantities, theres a huge scarcity at the moment. However, there was no need for attitude on either occasions. We werent being over bearing, we werent running into the store crazy and snatching all of them up, we dont go in every day asking them if theyve got any in. There was no reason for him to be so outwardly annoyed with us specifically. Secondly, he had not said anything of the sort the last time we visited, if not the shear evidence being that I'd only bought one single squishmallow on my last visit. TLDR: there's no reason to be rude to customers because they come in looking for a product your store sells. Its unfortunate if others have been rude or crazy towards you and your employees, but its highly unfair to treat anyone coming in like they just caused you the biggest inconvenience of your life just by existing.

For Walgreens Store #06906 at 12:56PM on 2/25/2026, 6097 Broadway, Merrillville I clipped a coupon in your app for $2 off qty 1 coupon Sudafed Sinus and Pressure the coupon did not expire until 3/14/26. Upon checkout the coupon was not showing on the register. So the clerk ask for a Mgr to come over. (Iliana - who I later found out was not a manager) Came over and took my phone from my hand and said the coupon wasnt being applied because the coupon was not showing in GREEN??? Because coupons show in green ON HER PHONE?? I told her that I dont know Walgreens color coding policy and does that mean she cant price adjust and not going to honor the coupon even though she sees it is clipped, not expired and not an online only coupon. Iliana then says that my app is the problem and needs to be updated?? Again, I question why do that now instead of the coupon being honored?? She then yells over to PAUL and SAYS CAN YOU COME GIVE HER A DOLLAR OFF OR SOMETHING....IT'S HER DAY OFF AND SHE DOESNT HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!
