Fair haven martial arts is a great place for adults or children to learn priceless self defense and get in great shape while having a ton of fun. All while disciplining oneself physically and mentally. I take Brazilian jiu jitsu here and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. Not only are my classmates cool people but the information learned each week makes me more confident and my decision making smarter in my daily life. I have seen some of the kids classes in progress and the difference it makes for a youngster is tremendous. Between teaching discipline and improving coordination this has got to be one of the best things someone could sign their kid up for. Plus they have a ton of fun learning it. And don't worry, safety is a #1 priority so your kid will be safe. A lot of the adults in my class do the parent child class, it looks like a lot of fun. When I have kids of my own I'll be sure to partake in one. So I give fair haven martial arts five stars because I have nothing bad to say about it. The best dojo ever! My 3 kids and I have been going here for 9 years. I can't say enough great things about FH Martial Arts. They put clients first. Sensei Jim knows all the kids and parents names and what exactly what each student needs. He works with them at their pace building confidence and fitness. I've seen Sensei Jim, Diana, Evan, Joe and Professor Jason show the right amount of patience and discipline with all ages and abilities from special needs students to gifted athletes. They get it. It's not a belt factory. They don't push their uniforms and bags. They push self confidence and health. One of my sons likes it so much he's had 5 birthday parties there, and is currently a brown belt working hard to reach his goal of a second degree black belt. I got tired of sitting on the side lines so a few years ago I started training with Sense Jim. I am an avid runner that was plagued with injuries until I started working with Sensei Jim. He is the best personal trainer I've ever worked with. He coached me out of an injury through a marathon and has kept me healthy since. The ladies kick boxing class is a ton of fun, affordable and makes proper form and stretching (key to injury prevention) a top priority. read more

My boys participate in a large array of extra-curricular activities and if there is one that stands out, it's Fair Haven Martial Arts. Sensei James Pawlak (Jim Pawlak) and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and go above and beyond to make the youngest to the oldest of participants feel comfortable and capable. I have experienced first hand where my one son was shy to move up to the next level of competition/age bracket and Sensei Jim took a substantial amount of time sitting aside with him and building his self esteem. The program not only has been excellent for my boys stamina, balance, strength etc but it's been amazing for their mind, moral sense and confidence. We joined Fair Haven Martial Arts three years ago when our middle child began the junior karate program, which she loved! Today, at eight years old, she is working toward her adult black belt with great enthusiasm and commitment. My kids have been doing karate with Senseis Jim, Diana and Evan for several years and love it. I'm impressed with how much they've learned and the confidence as well as self-defense they've acquired as a result. I trained individually with Sensei Jim after my last baby to get back into shape. It's a great work out and jump-started my energy level so I could exercise regularly again. We also study jiujitsu there with Professor Jason and love that too. He's taught us how to find our inner-core strength and to challenge ourselves on many levels. I do private lessons with him and he's patient and really knowledgeable. Ever since my children were born, it was important to me that I got them into a martial arts program at a very young age. I spent a lot of time researching academies in my area, and boy did I find the right one! Sensei Jim and his staff have done an amazing job in helping my children develop the self esteem, confidence, discipline, focus, and ability to defend them selves that I was hoping for. My very shy and timid daughter has come out of her shell and now displays confidence and self esteem unlike we've ever seen, and my son is more focused and disciplined than ever. Jim Pawlak has been my personal trainer for over five years. I'm now 52 years old and prior to that time had never had any kind of training regimen. Five years into this, I can say that I am elated at both the results we've accomplished together and for his breadth of knowledge...continuing to keep me motivated while making the workouts varied and ever more challenging. Additionally, although I'm not from Fairhaven, I have spent a great deal of time at both his old and now newest location. Whenever I'm there I'm amazed at the response he gets from the community. Fair Haven Martial Arts is a top notch martial arts school. The facilities and instructors are second to none and it is an absolute pleasure training there. In addition to my 2 kids learning karate, I have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at FHMA for 2+ years. Their method of teaching all martial arts disciplines makes it fun and challenging. It really has a community/family atmosphere that I don't believe exists at other places. Fair Haven martial arts is a true gem. You can study both Shotokan Karate and Gracie Brazilian Jiujitsu under the tutelage of some amazing senseis and professors. Both of my older kids are studying both martial arts there and my youngest will start as soon as he's old enough. Senseis Jim, Diana and Evan and Professor Jason are amazing with the kids and have the patience of saints. Jimmy is a high class trainer. The lone review that is written poorly is complete utter non-sense from a miserable human being that I know personally. Jimmy was a personal train to my family and many friends. I trained personally for many years with him as I trained for football. I was in the utmost top shape and due to the years of that it has continued without him into my 20s. I would personally recommend Jimmy to anyone looking to improve their health. read more
